The Good for Nothing Seventh Young Lady Chapter 2648 – Phantom! Sudden Strike (Chapter 2)

Ch. 2648: Phantom! Sudden Strike (2)

More and more devils appeared on the wall, but the soldiers were unwilling to leave this wall and wanted

to defend it to the death.

A large number of soldiers created a barricade using their bodies to protect the artillery and archery

towers, so that long range attacks could still be carried out.

As long as they could delay one more moment, they could get the artillery and archers to do more

damage to the devils.

Every minute and second in the war was won with blood and life.

People’s ears were lled with the roaring of their struggling brothers. Stepping on the slate stained with

the blood of their comrades, the gunners forced themselves to ignore everything around them and shoot

their targets as fast as possible.

Apart from the Desert City, no cities that had confronted the devil army suered heavy losses, but without

exception, by the time each city was destroyed, all the gunners were dead.

Everyone else could withdraw; only they couldn’t.

Because only they could stop the swarming of the devil army. The artillery they had mastered was the

most lethal weapon to the devils.

They would not leave their posts until they had taken their last breath.

The destruction of the city could not stop them; only death could push them from their positions.

Long before the start of the war, all the gunners had already discussed things among themselves. Once

they accepted the task, it would mean death, without exception.

Anyone in the city could retreat, but they could not.

And so, none of the gunners ran away. Their beliefs were imprinted in their souls.

Once the city was broken, they would also die. This was the responsibility of the gunners in Barren Land.

As long as they could re one more artillery shell, they could kill at least ten devil soldiers. They were the

key to this war of attrition.

With their esh and blood, they would protect their land endlessly.

No matter how perfect Shen Yanxiao’s plan for this war of attrition was, the war would still mercilessly

take many lives.

More and more devils invaded the city. The city lord knew it was time for them to retreat.

He looked up at the city wall, the besieged fort.

There was his son, who would die as a gunner. He knew, but he could do nothing to stop it.

He was the city lord; he belonged to the Barren Land, and his son also belonged to the same.

Once the army was withdrawn into the underground passage, that was when the soldiers stationed on

the city wall died, and the moment the entrance to the underground passage was closed, the whole city

would be blown to rubble by black gunpowder.

“Everyone…” The city lord gritted his teeth and could not bear to say the word ‘retreat’. He knew that once

the word was uttered, he would also be announcing the death of his son.

“City lord! There is a situation!”

The archers on the archery tower discovered something unusual on the battleeld.

In the army of millions of devils, suddenly there was a burst of chaos.

The Barren Land had been ghting a war of attrition with the devils; they almost never fought with the

enemy outside the city, but within the originally calm devil army, there was a commotion all of a sudden.

Chaos broke out from the front end of the camp.

Because the Barren Land had always taken a defensive stance, every time there was a war, the

commander-in-chief of the devil army would always stand at the front of the camp to command the siege.

Now the chaos in the devil army had surprised everyone.

Due to the distance being a little big, the archers on the archery tower had no way to nd out what had

happened to the devil army.

They could only see that the chaotic devil army began to move towards the front end of their own troops,

and their attacks were not only aimed at the city: there seemed to be something to contain their attack.

This containment gave the alliance army in the city a little respite.

After the city lord learned of the situation, he immediately organized the soldiers in the city to ght back

against the devils on the wall
