However, Wang Yunzhong was a person who cared about face. He could save some money, but not his face.

Therefore, Wang Yunzhong was very satisfied with the tables Wang Yunmei had booked.

“Very good, Xiao Mei. This is exactly what I want. It doesn’t lower my status,” Wang Yunzhong said with a satisfied smile.

At this moment, Wang Yunmei also said, “This is the highest priced table from Manager Liu’s hotel. It was 10,888 yuan per table, but he lowered the price to 8,888 yuan per table for me. It’s also for auspicious reasons.”

“Is that so? That’s good!” Wang Yunzhong was delighted.

As expected, businessmen liked the number eight.

Unexpectedly, when the old lady heard this, she shouted and stomped her feet. “What? A table costs over eight thousand yuan? Xiao Mei, what are you thinking? Just because we’re not spending your money?!”

“What are you shouting for?!” The old man was shocked by the old lady. He came back to his senses and retorted, “Xiao Mei helped Yunzhong book a banquet and got an acquaintance to get a discount. She’s so attentive!”

“You’re old and muddle-headed. A table costs over eight thousand yuan. Twelve tables cost one hundred thousand yuan!” The old lady wailed with heartache, as if they had cut the money from her body.

“Mom, if you don’t know, then don’t kick up a fuss. Nowadays, a wedding banquet table at a formal hotel costs at least five thousand yuan. Xiao Mei booked the highest tier and lowered the price to over eight thousand yuan. We saved money and gained face. This is the best of both worlds!” Wang Yunzhong frowned impatiently.

“Don’t let her fool you. Who knows if this meal is worth this money? It’s over eight thousand yuan. Are we eating gold?” The old lady didn’t relent. It was as if she had to think of a way to make Wang Yunmei unhappy. She said, “She might collude with that acquaintance to earn your money!”

“Mom!”

When Wang Yunmei heard this, she suddenly bounced up from the sofa and glared at the old lady angrily. “Don’t be a bully!”

“I didn’t want to interfere in this matter in the first place. It was Brother who begged Yunzhi to say that he didn’t have time and was afraid that you wouldn’t do anything, so he asked Yunzhi and me to help. You’re at Yunfa’s place every day. What haven’t I been doing these past few days? I’ve been busy helping your son, but in the end, I didn’t get any good words from you, right?”

“If you don’t trust others, do it yourself. I’ll see if you can satisfy your son. Anyway, I know the boss of this hotel. It’s just a matter of a word for me to cancel the reservation. At most, I’ll treat him to a meal to apologize!”

“It’s only a few days until the eighth. When the time comes, don’t blame others if your son can’t get married!”

Wang Yunmei seemed to have been agitated by the old lady’s words. She immediately spewed out all the anger in her mouth.

On the surface, she could tolerate it if she didn’t like her. She could also tolerate the occasional ridicule, but the old lady’s words were too much.

Wang Yunmei had been poor for so many years, but she had never taken advantage of anyone. She had a backbone and didn’t want the old lady to trample on her so easily.

However, when the old lady heard Wang Yunmei’s words, not only was she not frightened, but she also shouted back in a louder voice, “How dare you! Your brother is getting married. If you cancel the reservation now, where will the wedding banquet take place? I think you just don’t want us to feel comfortable!”

At this moment, Wang Yunmei’s anger had already reached her heart. In all these years, she had never been so angry with the old lady. She immediately replied without hesitation, “Whatever you do has nothing to do with me!”
