The atmosphere in Jiaheng Real Estate had improved a lot since the imposition of the new policies.

Everyone was happy with the measures recently implemented by their newly appointed big boss. Previously, they were unmotivated to work in this company and treated it like nothing.

However, after the announcement of those new rules, all the employees, from the department heads to errand persons, found motivation.

Everything seemed to be moving in the right direction, but that was only what it seemed on the surface.

Although Pei Ge had solved the company’s internal affairs, its external affairs were much tougher to deal with.

Because of the mess within the company itself, after those unfinished buildings and the houses that did not make it past the quality controls, it could be said that Jiaheng had no reputation to speak of in this area. While foreigners might still be willing to buy properties from them, there was no way the locals would ever do so.

“How do we deal with the issue of the company’s reputation…” She looked at the collection of news clippings regarding Jiaheng in recent years that she had someone put together.

She felt her head throb as she saw all the company’s bad publicity.

The internal problems were easy to solve, but how would she go about the issue of restoring the company’s reputation?

As she pondered on this, the image of her father appeared in her mind.

‘Ge Ge, as businesspeople, who can’t do things that are harmful to others and ourselves in the name of profit. Sometimes, we must let the customers benefit as well…’

“Let the customers benefit sometimes…” Her eyes brightened, and a thought seemed to flash across her head, but she failed to catch a hold of it.

Take a trip back to the capital! Back home!

When this thought popped in her head, she subconsciously stood up from the chair.

“Right! My dad worked in the property sector! I could take a look at the notes he left behind!”

As she spoke, her expression grew surer.

Back to the capital!

She grabbed her bag, along with the notes, and left the office.

“Boss Pei, where are you going?” Wu Yongkang asked when he saw her pick up her bag, looking as if she was about to leave.

“I’m going home,” she replied with a smile. Realizing that her words did not sound appropriate, she hastily added, “I’m going to my home in the capital. I’m leaving today, and I’ll be back tomorrow.”

Since it was already afternoon, she decided to stay with her mother for the night and just return in the morning.

As such, she left the company and did not wait for the secretary to arrange a transport for her.

Her thrifty personality manifested when she left Jiaheng. Instead of taking a taxi to the bus terminal, she waited for the direct public bus to the terminal at the bus stop.

Since she did not have anything urgent to attend, she had no complaints with waiting for this irregular public bus.

However, she eventually became depressed when buses came and went, yet none of them was the one she was waiting for.

Could it be that the bus left right before she arrived?

The bus frequency seemed to be every thirty minutes…

She was in the middle of grumbling to herself when a black Mercedes stopped in front of her.

Thinking that someone wanted to get out of the car, she instinctively took a few steps backward.

Rather than the car door being opened from the inside, the windows were rolled down.

“Ge Ge, it really is you! What are you doing here?”

“Senior?!”

She looked at Fu Mingxuan, who was sitting in the back seat, in surprise.

She did not expect to bump into him here.

“Why are you here? Ji Ziming isn’t here, too, right?”

Instinctively thinking of the man, she mumbled inwardly, It couldn’t be that that annoying fellow found his way here, right?

She herself did not realize that a tinge of happiness and expectation rose in her heart.

He smiled gently when he heard her question. “I’m here on a business trip; Ji Ziming isn’t with me.”

A look of disappointment appeared on her face at his reply.

“Ge Ge, are you waiting for the bus?” he asked. Noting her look of disappointment, his eyes became a little evasive.

“En.” She nodded absentmindedly.

“Where are you going? If it’s on the way, I can give you a lift.”

“It’s fine; it’s fine. I’m sure that it’s not on your way. You’re here in Tianjin for a business trip, and I’m going back to the capital; how can it be on the way?” She astutely rejected his offer.

What she did not expect was that, right after she spoke, a smile appeared on his face.

“That’s such a coincidence. I’m going back to the capital, too. Get on,” he said with a warm smile.

Thus, she got in his car with no means of rejecting him.

“Ge Ge, what are you doing here?” he asked conversationally, smiling at the woman now sitting next to him.

“Oh, I-I…” In that instant, she did not know how to answer his question.

“Because of uncle Ji?” He smiled but did not ask further.

“Correct.” She paused when she heard his words. She did not understand how he knew but thought not much about it. Given that he was a friend of Ji Ziming, he was bound to find out about it if not sooner, then later.

“Where did uncle Ji transfer you?”

“Jiaheng Real Estate. Sigh… I’ve been swarmed with work recently.”

Perhaps because she met someone familiar in this foreign environment, so she confided her troubles to him.

Tenderness flashed across the man’s face as he looked at her troubled expression.

“Do you need me to help you with it?”

He regretted it immediately after he spoke. This was clearly an act on the part of Ji Ziming’s father to break up the two.

If he helped her complete the test his childhood friend’s father had set up for her…

However, he quickly realized that he was overthinking it.

“It’s fine. I want to complete the mission uncle Ji assigned by my merit.”
