Looking at the table full of food, Pei Ge, who was still sighing about her pay getting docked, decided to channel her anger into appetite.

She readied her bowl and chopsticks and then started attacking the nearest dish to her. Soon, however, she sensed the same intense gaze on her that she sensed yesterday.

She turned her head and, indeed, spotted the man staring at her with emotionless, dark eyes.

“Why are you staring at me again?” she asked, feeling exasperated.

“Nothing.” He continued to peer at her, though.

Tsk! Weirdo.

She mumbled that inside her before she resumed taking some of the green pepper with potato in front of her.

The man was watching her do all that with pursed lips while he tried not to reveal any anticipation on his face

His effort was bound to fail, however, with the woman’s next words.

“Hm? This green pepper with potato isn’t as nice as yesterday’s,” she muttered as she chewed her food.

The moment she finished saying that, she felt the temperature drop around them.

‘Isn’t as nice as yesterday’s…’ ‘Isn’t as nice as yesterday’s…’

The same words played a loop on the man’s mind. Her comment was like lightning as it struck his heart.

“What are you looking at me like that for?” She peered at the man’s dark look.

What is wrong with this annoying fellow? He’s been acting really weird recently.

“…” The man was silent for a while, and then he asked numbly, “It’s not good?”

“Ah? What’s not good?” Her reaction to his question was slow.

“Are you talking about this dish? The taste is actually not bad; it’s just not as tasty as yesterday’s.”

His forehead creased tightly at her honest words.

The dish today did not receive the same praise from her like yesterday. While she did not say that it was bad, but the perfectionist him, who had just lost to someone he did not know, felt really depressed.

“Remove that dish.” Scowling, he ordered the plate of green pepper with potato to be removed from the table.

“Yes, Young Master.”

Taken aback by this sudden turn of events, she only regained her senses once the green pepper with potato dish was gone from the table.

“Y-You’re too wasteful!” she shouted, glaring at him exasperatedly.

This was when she realized that there was something wrong with the man.

His whole face was gloomy, as though he were angry, while his eyes were desolate.

She wanted to say something else, but when she saw his expression, she instantly shut her mouth.

Why does this annoying fellow look so desolate and pitiful? Is something wrong with my eyes?

“Are… you okay?” She blinked at him. In the end, all the words of reprimand she wanted to say changed into a careful question.

“Continue eating.” He only grimaced at her.

Witnessing his abrupt change in temperament, she did not know if she had just imagined his look moments before.

It’s impossible for this annoying fellow to feel sad, and it’s even more impossible for him to look pitiful. That’s just impossible.

“Oh.” She nudged her lips and then lowered her head, continuing to eat without any more words.

Still, it’s a pity that this annoying fellow ordered that dish to be thrown away when its taste isn’t that bad. It appears that I should be mindful of my words next time.

For some reason, this lunch affair was held in an awkward note.

This awkward only got dispelled once the man was gone.

“That’s really odd…”

She did mull over this issue for long, though, quickly putting it in the back of her mind.

As for the main lead of the incident, he definitely did not put it in the back of his mind. In fact, for the first time in his life, he did not show up to his office again and skipped work for the rest of the day, instead.

“Ziming, why are you here at this time?” Old He was totally struck silly when the man turned up at his place in his suit.

The man would usually show up at his place around five or six in the evening. Right now, it was still the working hours, and yet he was here already.

*Did something serious happen? *Just as Old He thought of this, the man’s next words made his lips twitch wryly.

“To learn.” The man summarized his intention in two words.

“…” Hur hur. To learn, huh…

The corner of Old He’s lips grimaced at his reply.

If this stupid brat’s grandfather finds about him skipping work to learn some crooked things’ from me, he’ll definitely skin me alive!

“Boy, you should be busy right now.” He looked at man before him helplessly. This stupid brat isn’t playing by the rules!

At this rate, this brat’s family will soon catch wind of me teaching him cooking techniques!

“I’m not busy, Master. Let’s not waste time anymore.” He glowered at him intensely.

Currently, his mind was only filled with that woman’s ‘green pepper with potato isn’t as nice as yesterday’s’.

A certain petty fellow was currently feeling very indignant.

“…” The corners of Old He’s mouth twitched again.

Fine. He’s even calling me with that honorific now. It appears that he’s serious about this.

“What do you want to learn from me today?” Old He stroked his beard in resignation.

With a straight face, the man answered, “Green pepper with potato.”

“…” Green pepper with potato?

The elderly man looked at his straight face and was not fooled by it.

“Lad, don’t tell me that you made that dish for Ge Ge, but that lass said that it doesn’t taste nice?”
