Pei Ge grumbled all the way to the study room as she looked at her phone with much grievances.

She read through the messages several times before she mustered up the courage to give Ji Ziming a reply about him docking her pay.

She had racked her brains for that ’emotional’ excuse in hopes of the man retracting his earlier decision, but just like a thrown small rock not causing a ripple on the ocean’s surface, the man did not even reply to her message.

“What exactly is that annoying person doing?” She wondered aloud when her phone did not buzz.

Seriously, what exactly is he doing now?

Her mood soured when he truly did not reply even after a long time passed of her staring at the phone screen.

Just as she was grumbling at her phone, there was a knock on the door, and then Sister Yun entered.

“Miss Pei, lunch is ready; you can go down now.”

She lifted her head and asked, “Ji… Ziming is back?”

Sister Yun’s expression turned sullen at the way she called their young master so endearingly. She coldly replied, “Yes, our young master is back.”

Once she affirmed his return, she dashed outside.

If her etiquette teacher were to see her actions now, she would definitely… lecture her for a long time.

Deng, deng, deng! Just like a gust of wind, she disappeared from Sister Yun’s sight as she bounded down the stairs two at a time.

“…” Sister Yun’s expression darkened even more at that.

Young Master, why do you insist on such a woman?! Are you blind?! There are plenty of fish in the sea, with good looks and figure. Why do you like this woman who has none of those qualities?! Are you really blind, or is your taste that different from others?

Without a regard for her image, she rushed down the stairs and into the living room in one breath.

“Hu, hu, hu!” As she ran too fast, her face became flushed.

She was panting by the time she reached the living room, and when the sight that greeted her was of the man leisurely drinking tea at the dining table, she was filled with vexation.

“Come here.”

Before she could grumble at the man, he called out to her first as he placed the cup in his hands down.

She pouted angrily at the man’s grave voice.

“Angry?” The anger he felt initially dissipated at the sight of her looking frustrated.

Ke, ke, ke! He could not be blamed, though.

Ji Ziming, the powerful and respectable CEO, who controlled the livelihood of countless individuals, had to hide behind a curtain because of her!

Did that make sense? It made no sense at all!

With that thought, his anger boiled again.

Who knew that her next words would douse his anger completely, though?

“Why didn’t you reply to my text?”

She looked at him as though she had been done an injustice.

Right now, she resembled a petty girlfriend who was adorably throwing tantrum at her boyfriend.

At least, that was how he perceived her ranting.

“…” He bit his lip and felt helpless at her grumbling.

He indeed ignored her text earlier because, partly, he was angry and, mainly, he was cooking.

He could not tell her that, though.

“I was driving earlier,” he replied coolly.

“… Why didn’t you reply to me when you got out of the car, then?” She pursed her lips and shot him a look that seemed to say, ‘You are just making excuses.’

When she refused to let the matter rest, instead of finding her annoying, the man thought that she was cute and was amused with her.

“I’m here already. Do I still need to reply?” he asked, cocking a brow teasingly.

All right. There’s really no need, she thought to herself with pursed lips.

“Okay, that’s enough. Time to eat.” He said this gently when she still fumed.

“T-Then, are you really docking my half a month’s worth of pay?” she asked anxiously.

He felt frustrated at how anxious she looked.

This dumb woman was already his. Why was she still concerned about that bit of money? Truly stupid!

Under her anxious gaze, his lips moved to give her a clear answer.

“Dock.”

She hit rock bottom at his reply.

“Ji Ziming, you are too much! How can you dock half a month’s worth of pay?! Half a month! Not a day!” she exclaimed furiously.

“Who asked you not to listen to my order?” He looked at her fleetingly, a hint of amusement in his eyes.

“I-I…” She was at a loss for words at that moment.

Fine! Who asked her to have such a strong sense of curiosity?! If she had not curiously snooped around earlier, her pay would not have been docked.

She was full of reproach for herself.

See?! Who told you to be so curious?! Indeed, curiosity killed the cat. Just a peek, and it cost me my half-month’s pay.

Still, although she felt contrite, she was reluctant to accept it.

“I-It’s also your fault! Why did you tell me not to come downstairs? Clearly, you’re hiding something from me.”

Hearing her words, the man somewhat felt guilty.

“All right. I’m hungry; let’s eat,” he said coldly, furtively looking at her.

While the expression on his face made him seem mad, if one looked at the tip of his ears, his embarrassment would easily be discovered.

Unfortunately, she was never very observant, so she did not notice this anomaly.

“Oh, okay…” She shot him a gloomy look as she said this.

Aiiii. My money… a half-month’s pay… gone just like that…
