Ellen Fleming was on the brink of tears. Left with no other choice, she could only say, “I’m sorry, Mr. Taylor. I was insensible. I hope that you’ll forgive me.”

Initially, she had thought that her family would be able to suppress Timothy Taylor, yet she had come to her senses the moment her father slapped her. ‘If Father had any other choice, he would never do this to me.
