“Resigned? I was the one who signed your employment contract. Without my permission, you can’t leave. Who do you think I am? You had better make yourself clear.”

By now, Diane Taylor understood that there was no way she was going to leave the city if she didn’t tell him what had happened. “Mr. Taylor, do you remember me telling you that my mother raised me alone?
