“Not very clearly; the place has been looted more than once,” Haggard said, then suddenly seemed to think of something before recalling, “I remember now; I had picked up a box of things which was filled with books and things. Most people around here are illiterate, so they have no interest in that…”

“Take us there to have a look,” Lu Li interrupted him, hoping that this was the clue to the next step.

Haggard took the two men into the cellar and rummaged through a pile of dusty debris to find what was supposed to be the last of Flintley’s family belongings.
