Sword Among Us Chapter 879 – The Mongolian Army Attacks

Chapter 879: The Mongolian Army Attacks

From the moment he broke out of the encirclement in the Mongolian army, the system notification that rang in Happy’s mind caused Happy to be incredibly excited.

“Ding!

“Kuo Zhong and Xu Zhiling successfully escaped. You perfectly completed the spontaneous quest.

“You successfully shook off Empress Yin and Demon General’s pursuit. Completed quest to burn the supplies in the logistics camp!”

As he expected, the notification for the completion of the quest will only be given to him after he successfully broke out of the encirclement. While Happy maintained executing his skill in fusing with his horse and galloped forth quickly, he determined his location and was prepared to return to the camp.

The quest this time not only allowed him to secure his seat as a battalion commander, he also received an extra fifty thousand points!

Also, during this period of time, he killed at least two hundred Mongolian cavaliers and even burned or caused Mongolian cavaliers to die of asphyxiation because of the smoke. All those deaths were considered part of Happy’s achievements, and he gained more than five thousand points.

When he returned to the camp, he can absolutely get a full battalion of two thousand cavaliers in his team now.

‘I wonder how Silver Wolf’s side is doing.’

When he thought of this, Happy suddenly remembered that Silver Wolf had a quest to harass the flank, and he might not have killed all ten thousand of those cavaliers.

He tentatively turned his head around to look at the smoke rolling off the logistics camp. The people chasing after him had already completely disappeared, and he relaxed. ‘I’ll go over and take a look. Let’s hope those brats didn’t just send all my cavaliers to their deaths.’

Happy prayed silently.

In fewer than ten minutes, he got close to the Mongolian camp.

All of a sudden…

Rumble…

The deafening sounds of hooves thundering against the ground could be heard from the distance.

All of a sudden, the ground trembled madly. The tremors were frequent and violent. An astonishing momentum surged forth from the direction of the Mongolian camp, and it was accompanied by an excited blare from a horn sounded at a low timber, along with roars that sounded as if they came from wild beasts.

‘What’s going on?’

Happy noticed it immediately. This was definitely not a momentum that can be stirred up by the few cavaliers on Silver Wolf’s side and the ten thousand cavaliers fighting against them. His heart tensed, and he quickly tightened his grip over the reins.

“Giddy-up!”

He changed his direction and rushed to a high spot nearby.

For some reason, he suddenly had a flash of unease in his heart.

Right when he rushed up there, a terrifying scene that made Happy’s suck in a sharp breath was reflected in his eyes.

Rumble!

RUMBLE!

A dense wave of Mongolian cavaliers that covered the land, the mountains, and the plains came from the direction of the horizon like a black wave.

Silver Wolf and Red Dust led the remnant forces in their army—only in the thousands—and were chased by the one thousand or so Mongolian cavaliers behind them. They fled one-third of a mile in front of the Mongolian army, and Happy can even see the fear as well as sweat on their faces clearly. Their horses moved their feet wildly, and they ran to where Happy was desperately.

And not too far away in the distance were around two thousand Mongolian cavaliers chasing after a cavalier battalion that numbered to the hundreds. They were also as fierce as demons in their pursuit, and the people they chased after looked as if they wanted to cast away their armor so that they can be lighter and flee even faster for their lives.

It was the apocalypse!

To them, the Mongolian army that covered the land and blotted out the sky at the back were demons who can destroy everything in the world. If they were slower by even one step, they might be completely devoured.

In an instant, Happy knew that he was in huge trouble this time, and his face turned incredibly pale.

At the same time, Silver Wolf and the rest, who were fleeing in frenzy on the ground further ahead, also saw Happy on the slope. Joy showed up on their faces, but that joy soon faded away while they shouted.

“Happy, run! The Mongolian army has deployed their troops en masse, and they want to kill all the people at the frontlines on the plains!

“Run! Or you’ll die here!”

At the same time Silver Wolf shouted a reminder, he noticed the Mongolian cavaliers behind him drawing their bows nonstop and throwing their hatchets. The NPC cavaliers were like still targets. During the mad dash, they fell off their horses and died one after another, and the situation right now was incredibly perilous for them.

The Mongolian cavaliers had superior riding skills, and they were very fast. The people riding ahead of them had clearly suddenly noticed that the Mongolian army had been deployed en masse while they were fighting against the Mongolian battalion. They did not have the time to completely shake off their pursuers and break free from their battlefields. Their pursuers just kept chasing after them, and their numbers just kept reducing because of those Mongolians.

There were only around one thousand Mongolian cavaliers behind them. At any other moment, the four hundred people below Happy will be able to deal with them with one single charge.

But now, everybody knew that if they stopped for even a moment, there will not just be one thousand people chasing after them, but a few hundred thousand cavaliers spread all over the land will go after their lives!

That was why no one dared to stop.

However, with the current rhythm of the chase, very soon, those thousands of cavaliers will completely wipe out all the remaining one thousand cavaliers on their side!

In fact, they will even threaten the lives of the four hundred elites from Mu Clan and Chivalry Sect.

When he saw this, Happy cannot just stand by and watch.

“Giddy-up!”

A clear crack of the whip rose, and a horse as well as its rider charged down swiftly from the slope.

“Boss Happy!”

“Happy!”

“Clan master!”

The group of people noticed Happy’s arrival, and they were incredibly excited.

Some of them were even prepared to turn around, but Silver Wolf immediately shouted at them to turn around, “If you don’t want to die, continue fleeing!”

“Come back! There are a few hundred thousand of those Mongolian cavaliers, and do you think that you can kill all of them?! Happy is going to serve as our rear guard!

“Brothers and sisters, continue fleeing at full speed!”

Red Dust managed to see through Happy’s goal, and he quickly shouted at the top of his voice for his sect members to continue running.

But Happy did not expect that even when those two people already shouted their warnings, two riders still charged out of the team.

“Go ba—Huh?”

Right when he was about to tell those people to turn around, Happy’s words suddenly died at the tip of his tongue. He stared incredulously at the riders in front of him, who happened to be Kuo Zhong and Xu Zhiling.

“It’s you?!”

“Heheh… There’s no way we’d show such a lack of chivalry and cast you aside, right?”

Kuo Zhong and Xu Zhiling cackled.

Then, the trio rushed into the midst of the one thousand Mongolian pursuers in one fell swoop.

With just one Shifting Stars, no fewer than one hundred Mongolian cavaliers died!

Kuo Zhong and Xu Zhiling each killed the Mongolian cavaliers from one side, and very soon, they killed more than one hundred cavaliers.

Happy brought out his Dragon Saber and executed Ten Styles for War straightaway to harvest the cavaliers’ lives madly.

Very soon, one thousand cavaliers were cut to pieces.

However, while they only needed a short time to deal with the cavaliers through one-sixth of a mile, the cavaliers who covered the entire expanse of the earth instantly closed in on them.

The trio had killed most of the Mongolian cavaliers at that moment, and when they saw that Silver Wolf had led his army far into the distance, they did not dare be idle and linger around in the place. They activated their skill to fuse with their horses and dashed back from the direction where they came from to widen the distance between them and the Mongolian army.

“That felt amazing!”

He gained double points from all those kills, and he also killed two 1,000-man commanders. Happy instantly gained more than seven thousand points, and he felt very proud of himself.

But Kuo Zhong and Xu Zhiling’s expressions fell.

“The Mongolian army has been fully deployed. We’re in deep trouble now!”

“Yeah… It should be because we burned their supplies. Hu Bilie must know that once our operation in burning their supplies succeed, the Chinese army will definitely do something about it, which is why they decided to launch an attack before we return to our base.”

Kuo Zhong stopped talking for a while and pointed at the sky.

“Do you see that? Even the sky has been locked down. Even the messenger pigeons we use to send messages won’t be able to fly.”

He looked to the direction where Kuo Zhong pointed, and Happy quickly noticed a few clear black dots on the blue sky. By the looks of it, they were the war eagles that the Mongolians reared.

They were a high-grade pet that can swiftly send messages and perform surveillance from up high. They can also hunt down the messenger pigeons from the Chinese plains.

“If the Chinese camp is completely unaware of this, they will definitely suffer huge losses!”

“That’s right.” Kuo Zhong sucked in a deep breath. “As expected, Hu Bilie isn’t a normal person. If we can’t send a message back to the camp in time, not only will our advantage in burning their supplies be rendered null, we will even descend into an even more dangerous situation!”
