Chapter 220: Banquet Organized with Malicious Intentions

“Sister, I wonder what you think of what I said?”

Mo Yan had been in a daze and was a little muddleheaded when she was suddenly called out. She reacted slightly and said, “The concept is very good. I think the project can proceed smoothly.”

Mo Lian had originally thought that she would be able to make a fool out of Mo Yan, who had been in a daze. In the end, however, she was disappointed. She had no choice but to let her assistant continue.

Mo Yan was helpless against Mo Lian’s way of torturing her. This project was obviously not going to involve her but Mo Lian still kept an eye on her to see if she had been paying attention.

After the project meeting, Xu Tian and Mo Yan walked side by side to the office.

“It looks like tonight’s gathering is a banquet organized with malicious intentions, aimed at you,” Xu Tian said plainly.

Before they dispersed, Mo Lian had specifically mentioned that there would be a gathering that night. She hoped that everyone would be able to attend.

“Ever since I decided to sever ties with the Mo family, Mo Lian has had no way of threatening me. All she can do is say something unprofessional to humiliate me. I didn’t suffer any losses, so why bother with her?”

Xu Tian looked at Mo Yan with a gratified expression in her eyes.

Mo Yan was not the only one who had figured out Mo Lian’s tricks after a few exchanges. Mo Lian also understood Mo Yan.

Mo Yan could write it off when it involved herself, but not when it came to her family.

Mo Yan’s mother and younger brother had long fallen out with the Mo family. Even if Mo Lian wanted to find them, she would not be able to. The only person she could look for was Mo Yan’s husband, Luo Tao.

Mo Lian scrolled through her phone for a long time before she found Luo Tao’s number and dialed it.

A moment later, an icy male voice came from the other end of the phone, “Hello.”

“Hello! Luo Tao? This is Mo Lian.”

When Luo Tao heard that it was Mo Lian, he did not utter a single word and directly hung up. Who knew that the woman’s call would come again.

“Luo Tao, we’re having a banquet tonight. You can join us.”

“I’m not going.”

This time, Mo Lian did not give Luo Tao a chance to hang up. She quickly said, “There are quite a number of guys attending the party today. If you don’t come, I don’t know who will take Mo Yan away tonight.”

“Are you threatening me?”

Luo Tao’s tone was frosty, like an ice pick piercing through the other end of the phone.

“It’s not a warning, just a friendly reminder. After all, Mo Yan is quite good-looking. There should be a lot of people in the company who like her.”

“Time and place.”

“7 p.m., Singh Hotel.”

After obtaining the address, Luo Tao quickly hung up on Mo Lian and called Mo Yan.

“Hello? Luo Tao?”

Hearing a gentle and familiar voice sounding from the phone, Luo Tao was slightly relieved and asked, “Is your company having a banquet tonight?”

“Huh? How did you know? I haven’t had the chance to tell you yet!”

“Mo Lian called to inform me.”

“Why would she call you? And to talk about the gathering?” Mo Yan couldn’t comprehend it.

Luo Tao was also unclear about what Mo Lian was trying to do.

“I don’t know. What time is the banquet? Send me the address.”

“Tentatively 7 p.m.; as for the address, it’s at Singh Hotel.”

Luo Tao raised his eyebrows slightly. He didn’t expect Mo Lian to be telling the truth.

Until that day, Luo Tao had still been brooding over the fact that Mo Yan had been drugged; Mo Yan was the same.

Therefore, when Mo Lian mentioned the Singh Hotel, Mo Yan frowned deeply. At the same time, she could not help but wonder if Mo Lian had deliberately chosen that place, knowing that she had been traumatized there.

Thinking about the fact that other managers and directors would be present, Mo Yan did not want to bother Luo Tao, so she said, “Sister Xu Tian will be joining us for dinner tonight, so there won’t be any problems. Besides, the more Mo Lian wants you to come, the more we can’t let her have her way, right?”

Luo Tao was silent and did not answer. Mo Yan continued, “You know the address. If there’s anything, you can hurry over anytime.”

Seeing that Mo Yan kept trying to dissuade him, Luo Tao could only listen to her advice, “Contact me anytime.”

“Okay.”

The two of them reached an agreement. Mo Yan put down her phone and heaved a sigh of relief. If this Mo Lian could leave her alone, she would really thank the heavens.

Although she would have dinner that night, she still had to continue working during the day. Mo Yan threw herself back into work and soon forgot about Mo Lian.
