Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 7

At 10 a.m., the first thing Su Bai did when he woke up was walk to the incubator to look at his precious spirit egg. He nodded contentedly upon seeing that it was safe and sound.

“Huh?!”

He cried when he saw a phenomenon.

The wood and purple light balls within the pet egg were a bit more than last night, and the materials inside had lessened, too.

In other words, the spirit egg had absorbed the light balls and nothing else. If that was the case, could he directly push out the light balls in the material and press these into the spirit egg?

He thought about it and decided to experiment with other things first.

He went out and found a fertilized chicken egg in the kitchen refrigerator.

Introduction: [The egg of a fertilized chicken… Can hatch a chick.]

Looking at it, Su Bai found that the attributes of this egg were very messy. There were wood, water, and soil attributes. After thinking about it, he pulled out two lychee-size, blue light balls from the water and pressed them into the egg.

The originally nontransferable light balls melted in with one move.

“It is as I expected. Can I take the light balls from a dead body and integrate them into the pet?”

Glancing at the garlic seedlings planted in the water cup in front of the window, he reached out his hand and slapped it. A faint light ball appeared in his hand, and the green garlic seedlings wilted a little.

“It is not just dead bodies; I think it has something to do with a certain degree of consciousness. Without self-consciousness, I can take the light balls from their body.”

He went out to the yard and tried it again. He was the only one at home today, for his parents had gone to work, while his brother had gone to school. Without anyone else at home, he could experiment at will today.

Half an hour later, he was almost certain that he had guessed correctly. As long as the object had not reached a certain level of autonomy, he could push out its light balls.

Thinking of this, he quickly ate breakfast, then found a big backpack, and packed his spirit egg inside. He rode a small electric scooter and drove to the back mountain with his backpack. A mountain a few kilometers behind his house extended to the entire city.

There was also a small reservoir nearby called Construct Reservoir, and that was his destination.

Such places were naturally inhabited, but very few people were out and about there now. However, these places had been cleaned up until no powerful monsters could be found.

Everyone still preferred town, where they did things in a more respectful manner.

In about twenty minutes, Su Bai arrived at his destination. He realized that this place was really a primeval forest, and all the trees were as thick as a person’s arm.

This was exactly to his liking. He found a secret place with the precious spirit egg in his backpack. He could not help but rub his hands as he looked up at the big tree in front of him.

“Hey, tree, don’t worry; I won’t press a lot, just a little bit. If you don’t say anything, I will take it as a silent agreement. Thank you.”

Tree: (* ̄〈 ̄)

What the f*ck!

Looking at the green light balls in his hand, he eagerly opened the lid of the incubator and pressed the light balls in.

Once the light balls melted in, Su Bai carefully observed it. The information showed that it was fine, and its vitality seemed to have become a bit stronger, in fact. Delighted, Su Bai reached out to take more light balls from the tree and melted them into his spirit egg.

Tree: ???

Immersed in joy, he embarked on his tree-rubbing career. He carried the spirit egg on his back as if it was a precious baby.

It was not until 5 p.m. that he stopped. Not only did he have to return home, the spirit egg could no longer absorb the light balls and seemed temporarily saturated, too.

Taking a glance at the spirit egg in the incubator, Su Bai felt very satisfied. If the light balls of the spirit egg in the morning were as small as the light of fireflies, they were now the size of a small lightbulb.

He believed that by continuing this method, the spirit egg would definitely hatch to give him a huge surprise.

He excitedly went back home and was glad to see that no one else had returned yet.

After thinking about it, he used his remaining money to buy a poison attribute crystal nucleus. There were too few plants with poison attributes in the wild, so it was better to purchase one for the spirit egg to absorb. The poison attribute of a crystal nucleus was reserved, and he could directly fuse it with the spirit egg once he rubbed it.

After the poison attribute also reached saturation, he finally gave up and stopped persecuting his poor spirit egg.

While resting in bed, he took out his mobile phone to play. He had been busy the whole day without even reading his messages.

The first few messages were birthday greetings from several close friends. The others were messages asking if his pet incubation was progressing smoothly.

Furthermore, some teachers and students in his class had sent similar greetings.

He thought about it and directly replied to everyone with: (Picture) (Picture) “Thank you for your concern. My pet egg has reached the normal incubation stage and should hatch after a period of time. I will bring it along with me then and let you all see it.”

Someone responded shortly after.

Teacher Wang: “Not bad, not bad. From my experience, student Su Bai does well in all aspects and has reached the point of excellence. Your spirit egg looks bright and vibrant. I believe that the hatched pet will be rather good. Student Su Bai, take good care of the spirit egg and don’t forget to pay attention to your studies as well…”

His English teacher, Hou Jie: “You can do it, student Su Bai! I’m looking forward to seeing the hatched spirit egg, but don’t forget to study~”

…

Yang Zhou: “Congratulations! I will have my own spirit egg tomorrow, too. Hehe~”

Chen Rouxue: “Congratulations, congratulations. +1”

Liu Weiwei: “Congratulations, congratulations. +1”

…

…

Guo Dong: “That’s student Su Bai’s spirit egg? It has a poison-wood attribute? It looks unremarkable; can you tell me what the beginner materials are?”

Student A: “Yeah, I’m a little curious. Can student Su Bai reveal it?”

Student B: “Yes, it looks too ordinary. Student Chen Rouxue’s spirit egg not only has horns but also emits light. This egg looks too unremarkable in comparison, right?”

Chen Rouxue: “???”

Having just taken the car home from school and having lain down, Chen Rouxue was shocked to see these messages. Why did they involve her?

Also, how could they say such crude words? If they did not know how to speak nicely, they should just leave it alone.

Su Bai’s spirit egg did look ordinary from the outside, and anyone with a bit of knowledge would know that the beginner materials were probably not very good. They very cleverly failed to mention this.

She wondered if these people were just lacking in emotional intelligence or if they were sour and were deliberately doing this. After all, student Su Bai was good-looking and good in his studies, but they usually had no chance to ridicule him. However, why did they use her as an analogy? Were they trying to sow discord between them?

She clenched her teeth and squeezed her hands into fists. She really wanted to take her pet Xiao Bai and teach those guys a lesson.

Su Bai: “My beginner materials were indeed very bad. The crystal nucleus was from the Tier 2 warlord Queen of Thorns.”

However, Su Bai remained very calm without feeling angry or embarrassed. Other things aside, just the fact that his mind was in the twenties made him feel very open to such things.

He could not determine his own family conditions and was already very grateful to his parents for letting him buy the Queen of Thorns. They had given him their hard-earned money, and he was very grateful toward them. After all, it was hard for anyone in this world to treat him like this.

As for these guys, he just felt like he could not be welcomed by all. It was normal for someone to hate him. After all, he did not have money.

Furthermore, he was now in a different world compared to his previous life. Hence, he was even more indifferent to this. As long as he wanted to, even if a stone was used as a beginner material to hatch his pet, the pet would be cultivated by him into a divine beast.

He quite liked the appearance of others hating him and not being able to get rid of him. When they saw his divine beast, their expressions would definitely be very interesting.

Guo Dong: “I knew it! It looks so unremarkable; only low beginner materials must’ve been used. It won’t even be able to reach the commander level. It seems that Su Bai has given up on becoming a professional Pet Tamer and is focusing on studying, instead.”

Classmate A: “What a pity. I thought I would have a chance to compete with Su Bai.”

Classmate B: “It is a pity, indeed.”

Finally, they had an edge over Su Bai. These people could not hold back their pretentious soul and in revealing their feelings of superiority. Their taunting showed no signs of ending, even when Su Bai had long since exited the messaging application.

Chen Rouxue: “The beginner materials are only part of the factors determining the potential of a spirit. We can’t determine that the spirit has low potential when it has not even hatched…”

Her words did not seem to bother them and no one paid any attention.

After a while, the class teacher said, “Guo Dong and everyone else, I will be checking your homework tomorrow.”

English teacher: “You have several units of vocabulary not memorized yet. If you fail to memorize it tomorrow, I will call your parents.”

Guo Dong: “…” D*mn it! How could he forget that the teachers were in this group? It was over now.

The whole group fell into deep silence.
