Starting With Contract Pets Chapter 27

Back home, Su Bai told his family the news of Purple Jade’s breakthrough.

“Wow, brother. Your spirit has entered the growth stage so fast; it’s indeed a godly pet!”

Su Yue looked at the cub in shock. According to his judgment, he assumed that the cub would take a month even if it was a godly pet. Unexpectedly, it had broken through in just ten days.

“Good job; work harder! Once we have contracted the reservoir, your mother and I will borrow two to three million yuan and use that money to support you and your pet.”

Father Su transferred 30,000 yuan to him without a word.

“Thank you, dad. I recently signed up for the Cannes Trainee Pet Tamer Survival Challenge. If I manage to win the championship, I will have money to train my buddy and won’t need money from you guys for quite a while.”

Su Bai smiled. He did not think that it was inappropriate for his father to take a loan. After all, it was impossible to operate the reservoir without taking a loan.

2

“A competition? Son, do you still need money? I’ll give you some more,” asked Mother Su.

“No, this is enough.” He shook his head.

“Okay, let’s have a delicious celebration tonight.” His mother picked up the cub.

While the cub played with his mother, Su Bai returned to his room. It was a tiring day today and he had not had time to himself because he was busy training the cub.

Thanks to his parents’ 30,000 yuan, he now felt more certain about the game.

He remembered that Hypnotic Powder was about 30,000 yuan, too. He could now buy that wood skill and have greater confidence in winning the game.

He could use the 50,000 yuan from gambling on rocks to give the cub a temporary living allowance.

“Sigh, I still have to get an apprentice educator certificate as soon as possible. Relying on rock gambling is naturally not a long-term solution.”

Su Bai sighed. He still had to have a stable source of income.

The cycle continued for another week before the day of subject selection came. Three-quarters of the people in the class chose the spirit course, and only one-fourth of them finally ended up abandoning the spirit course due to various reasons.

The students who did not choose the spirit course studied from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m., constantly writing and memorizing things.

3

Those who chose the spirit course were all gone after school. They were working hard to train their pets while exercising in preparation for the final spirit course division.

Fourth High School was just an ordinary institution of learning, and it only had one or two top-classes where good education resources were allocated to.

In order to enter the top-classes, the students were of course training desperately.

“Ah, stop fighting! Let’s stop; you guys are too perverted!”

Yang Zhou slumped onto the ground, his Conch King already defeated beside him.

After experiencing first-hand the dirty tactics of his two friends again, he made up his mind to join them. He originally wanted to be a macho and defeat his opponents in an honest way, but after being taught a lesson by the two, he had no choice but to succumb.

His Conch King water-poison dual element was very suitable for playing dirty tricks, so when Su Bai gave him some suggestions, he readily adopted them.

Although the methods were dirty, they were really useful.

1

However, the premise was not to confront his friends, for these two would employ their dirty tricks to the extreme.

Su Bai’s cub could restore its energy and grind the opponent to death. The damage inflicted on the cub, meanwhile, was minimal due to it being able to replenish its energy.

Chen Rouxue was completely merciless. As soon as the game began, she would have her pet put the opponent under dizzy, confounded, or hypnotic state. The Curse skill would hit the opponent without giving it the slightest chance to fight back, but the most annoying thing was that the opponent would be rendered incapable of retaliating.

1

There was nothing he could do except watch his pet get defeated time and again.

“Let’s stop fighting. I will never fight you guys again. I’m just a rookie; why should I undergo such hellish training? Boohoo!”

“Haha, Yang Zhou, your pet’s actually very strong, but its attributes just happen to be restrained by mine. Get up and let’s play for a while; I can let you go first!”

1

Su Bai laughed.

“Howl!”

The cub also held its head high up. The results of its hard training for small money had been very remarkable so far. It could now instantly activate the Vine Whip skill and use its flexibility to directly form a domain, which it could control the existence of others in.

The Parasitic skill was also very useful. The cub could cast it at will, and it was its most toxic attack, which was hard to defend against no matter how skillful its opponent was.

Furthermore, Su Bai had been feeding it the emerald green thorn plum spirit fruit, which had helped increase its virulent power tremendously.

Another skill of it was Hypnotic Powder, which the cub had practiced well enough to integrate into its Thorns Domain.

2

When the cub unfolded a domain, some thorns would bloom with small white flowers, which wafted a delicate fragrance. As long as its target continued absorbing the floral fragrance, the opponent would be hypnotized.

“Stop, I’ll never spar with you guys again.” Yang Zhou shook his head, feeling too aggrieved.

“I heard that a group of servant-level monsters had run into the mountain west of Carp Town. Are you guys interested in hunting?” Chen Rouxue invited.

“I also heard of that. I’m considering it. After all, it’s hard to see the shortcomings in our friendly matches. Only life and death battles will reveal those.

“I’m not free tomorrow, though, so let’s do it next Sunday or the Sunday after that. Our participation in the game happens to be next Thursday.”

Su Bai agreed, having always desired to test the waters in the wild.

“Okay, we’ll go next week then. The Sunday after this coming Sunday is at the end of April and is not far from the test. If our pets are injured, it may affect our tests.”

“Okay, we’ll go next week then.”

The three of them settled on a time.

After that, Chen Rouxue and Su Bai practiced for another hour to prepare for the competition.

…

Back home, Su Bai took a shower and then lay down on his bed, while the cub played with the mobile phone beside him.

Tomorrow was the fifteenth, Monday, and was also the day for the first trainer certification test in the first half of the year. He had already signed up and was feeling very confident.

During dinnertime.

“Dad, haven’t you contracted the reservoir yet? Who’s being so hateful?”

After half a month, the reservoir had yet to be contracted.

“Everything was originally settled already, but the head in the neighboring village suddenly turned back on his words, saying that their village wanted to build spiritual fields and plant spiritual plants in the reservoir.”

Father Su was very irritated.

“I heard that the son of the village head had just returned. That guy worked as a trainer apprentice at the Green Sea Research Institute in the city for a period of time.

“It seems that he’s preparing to take a junior trainer certificate, and the village head is now publicizing it.”

Su Yue frowned and explained.

“By the way, brother, aren’t you also going to take the test for a junior trainer certificate tomorrow? It would be great if you could obtain it, too!” exclaimed his younger brother.

1

Their parents also knew about this, but they did not hold much hope. This was because the trainer exam was much harder than the pharmacist exam and even required lots of experience. The passing rate every year was not uniform, and in their opinion, their older son was only going there to give it a try.

“I’ll try my best to obtain a certificate.” Su Bai nodded. This kind of thing was not easy to make a promise about. He would have to give it his best shot tomorrow. With his Pet Tamer interface, plus the fact that he had been reading a lot of books these days, he felt that his success rate was still pretty high.

At dinnertime, he could distinctly feel the annoyance vibrating off his parents. The reservoir incident was probably very frustrating to them.

It had obviously been in their hands, and everything had been settled, but because of one statement, the other party went back on his words, making everyone frustrated.
