Rise of the Great Emperor Chapter 19: Strange Fishes

Chapter 19: Strange Fishes

Swish!

Rushing back home, Lin Xiao clicked his tongue when he realized that it was getting dark. He reached his home and sensed the two people’s movement inside the house. His younger brother was tending on the few potted plants that they placed near the window while Wenren Yu was resting near the fire place.

“Yun, I’m home!”

“Brother, you’re late.” Lin Yun turned around to look at his brother then to the basket behind Lin Xiao. “Did you manage to join the hunting squad.”

“No, that bastard Su Han makes it impossible to join,” Lin Xiao said with clear annoyance. He proceeded to tell the other two what had happened while he cleaned three fishes for their dinner tonight. The rest of the fishes were left inside the basket that Lin Yun filled with water to keep the fish fresh.

After hearing what had happened, Lin Yun was speechless. “He’s still searching for trouble?”

“As usual.” Lin Xiao played with his knife and cut the fish’s skin carefully. “Should I just scream to his ear that I cared nothing for that pampered Xu Qin?”

Lin Yun obviously knew who Xu Qin was. Even though he had been spending most of his time to stay in this residence and tend to the plants while training, he had been to the villages a few times a year. Xu Qin was the most beautiful young girl in the village.

“Bro, I think she’s not bad.”

“Do you want me to skin you alive?”

“Ah. It’s that bad?”

“She’s indeed pretty.” Lin Xiao used the stick to roast the fishes near the fire. “But she’s too spoiled. Even I have standard when I want to pick girls.”

Lin Yun laughed at his brother’s words. While Xu Qin’s personality might not be a match for his brother, Xu Qin was still a very pretty young girl and also a capable cultivator. Amongst the youngsters, it was clear that she was one of the few who had the best talent.

In the past, there was no doubt that Xu Qin would surely enter Taiyi Sect with her talent. But now, it didn’t seem to be possible anymore.

“Yes, yes, my brother can get better girls.”

“Of course!”

Wenren Yu rolled his eyes at these two’s conversation. He looked at the fishes that Lin Xiao caught. While the light was dim, he still could see the fishes clearly. The pattern on top of the fishes was what caught his attention.

“Lin Xiao, where did you get the fishes?”

“Where? From the large lake at the north,” Lin Xiao replied calmly. “There are a lot of fishes there, but normally we don’t dare to go because there are a lot of beasts around.”

“But you still go?”

“If it means I can join, why not? Besides, I didn’t see any beasts when I head to that lake before.” Lin Xiao proceeded to tell about his experience and everything that occurred while he was going. The forest was very quiet with no trace of beast at all.

“The fish is cooked. Let’s eat now.”

“Alright! Yum! As I thought, the fishes taste really good!”

Wenren Yu behaved more politely compared to Lin Xiao. Taking a bit of the meat, his eyes narrowed. He could sense Qi inside the fish. It was as if the fish was a container that could hold Qi and transferred it to those who ate it.

‘This is not ordinary fish.’

The rumor about how beasts would be seen roaming around didn’t seem strange now. If the beasts were there to catch these fishes, Wenren Yu knew that it was not that strange. For low ranked cultivators, eating these fishes will surely help them to advance faster because the accumulation of Qi would strengthen their flesh.

Body training stage was very consistent to its name. At this stage, cultivator would start by strengthening their body and used the Qi they absorbed to make their body stronger. Each stage meant different strengthening. At the beginning, it was their flesh, which was why the first stage up until fifth was very easy to see.

But the sixth stage was the strengthening of their skin and the seventh stage was the strengthening of their bones. The eight stage would be their marrow bones and the ninth stage would be the increase in strength of the skeletons in their body. The tenth stage would be the overall increase of strength and performance.

Only with a strong body would a cultivator able to reach higher stage because their body is their foundation.

“What do you think of the fishes?” Wenren Yu asked. He was stumped when he noticed the two of them were ready to cook two more fishes since they have already eaten the first fish.

“It’s not enough to eat just one,” Lin Xiao said with a grin. “Isn’t it better for us to eat more meat before they rot?”

Wenren Yu smiled bitterly. In any case, he better also ate the fishes. Slowly but surely, Wenren Yu could feel that he was getting stronger. It shouldn’t take long for him to advance to body training rank 7 at this rate.

In the end, the two glutton siblings cooked three fishes each for them while Wenren Yu only have two. They still have 11 fishes left for tomorrow.

“Bro, you should get more fishes if possible,” Lin Yun said jokingly.

“Well, they’re good, but I don’t think I’ll always be lucky enough to encounter the empty north forest.” Lin Xiao laughed. “I’ll try to make bow and arrows to try hunting tomorrow so that we can have meat.”

“Alone?”

“Yes.”

“But it’s dangerous!”

“I’m not going to join that annoying hunting squad with Su Han and Su Hei inside,” Lin Xiao said with a snort. “I’ll think for a method to hunt safely.”

Lin Yun still wanted to protest, but in the end, he shut his mouth and returned back to his room. As for Lin Xiao, he had to bear sleeping while sitting again because there was still an intruder named Wenren Yu borrowing his bed.

‘I need to make additional bedding for Wenren Yu too.’

There were so many things to do.
