Chapter 1399 – Tragic

Shield Guard was the fourth reward that Qin Yu obtained. It was a defensive divine way but it was different from the typical defensive skills. 

It used the original energy of the cultivator to create an identical replica of the user. This helped the user to escape danger easily. 

The exact technique was more complicated and Qin Yu only touched the surface of it. However, after using it, Qin Yu realized how effective it was. 

This was how Qin Yu was able to escape with the Crystal Token right beneath the eyes of the five True Saints. 

Gentle Spread Saint gritted his teeth and swore to himself that he would kill Virtuous Nine if they met each other again. This was the only way to resolve the hatred in his heart. More importantly now, he had to retrieve the Crystal Token.

It was a brick! 

The brick had a light green color and there were many scratch marks on it, proving its age. There was a smiley face drawn on it, and the smile appeared to be mocking him silently. 

“Ah!” 

Gentle Spread Saint yelled as he squeezed strongly and shattered the brick in his hand. The moment it shattered, a ‘bam’ emerged and a strong force pushed Gentle Spread Saint backward. 

“Virtuous Nine! I will kill you in this life!” Pure hatred and anger exploded out of him.

With the key in his hand, Qin Yu could not be bothered with the True Saints after he left. 

He had already expected the outrage from Gentle Spread Saint and Qin Yu simply ignored it. Furthermore, what could hatred do? Even if the hatred between them was ten or a hundred times deeper, Qin Yu was still alive and well.

Fire Spirit was puzzled. 

Why did his attitude towards her suddenly change? She was not used to this, and she was surprisingly disappointed as well.

Fire Spirit gritted her teeth and tried to remain calm. “Yes, Master. I will do my best to ensure that nothing goes wrong!” 

Stone Pagoda listened to this conversation silently. 

Who would be able to tell him what was going on? Was something wrong with Fire Spirit? While her reply sounded normal, Stone Pagoda knew that the girl had sadistic thoughts. She was enjoying the poor treatment from Qin Yu! 

My goodness, Qin Yu had bullied a normal person until her mind got twisted…scary, this was so frightening!

Qin Yu’s lips twitched. He had sensed the strange reaction from Fire Spirit and he felt the wave of consciousness from Stone Pagoda. Was this it? The legendary masochist? His hair stood on its ends! 

Bear with it. It isn’t anything major. As long as she listened to him obediently, all was well. 

He silently shook his head and casted these thoughts aside. His body flashed and he flew outside. 

In another palace hall a long while later, Fire Spirit flew around busily as she tried to activate the key. Qin Yu finally understood why the twin brothers had not activated the key when they had it. Instead, they kept it with them and got entangled with Wind, Cloud and Rain. 

This was so troublesome! 

If he was right, the twin brothers and the three True Saints were desperately looking for him. 

A lot of time had passed and although the palace grounds were large, they could arrive at any moment. The tightly shut door could be opened from the outside in the next second. 

It would be a lie if Qin Yu said he was calm right now. 

However, Qin Yu saw how busy Fire Spirit was and she had not taken a rest so far. She was already doing her best and it would backfire if he disturbed her now. Taking in a deep breath, Qin Yu could only smile bitterly. There was nothing else he could do but continue to wait. 

He prayed that his luck would be good this time. If the five True Saints caught up to him, there would only be disaster. 

Time ticked by and another half a day passed. Qin Yu frowned as he paced back and forth. He felt very anxious and he had a feeling that something terribly wrong would happen if the key was not activated soon. 

“Fire Spirit!” 

Taking in a deep breath, Qin Yu cried. 

“Master, hold on a moment, it will be done soon!” The Crystal Token was placed in the middle of some engravings in the floor. Numerous streaks of crimson red light started to form. 

Fire Spirit worked even faster as she felt Qin Yu’s wrath. 

Finally, a soft buzzing sound formed and the red streaks of light turned blinding. All the light gathered into the Crystal Token. 

“It is a success!” Fire Spirit exclaimed excitedly. 

‘Slap!’ The Crystal Token shattered and an illusionary door appeared. A strong suction force emerged and surrounded Qin Yu. 

“Master, don’t resist it!” 

Only a fool would resist this force after waiting for so long. Fire Spirit had wasted her words. 

Qin Yu sneered to himself but he maintained his smile. If things went smoothly, he would obtain the real Inextinguishable Flame soon. The furnace shook impatiently as it prepared itself for a feast. Once it devoured the flame, it would help Qin Yu’s Great Dao immensely. 

When that happened, his powers would increase a notch again! Hehe, by then, Qin Yu would not need to fear anyone. He could easily crush the twins and smear their flesh onto the ground. 

With that, all his dangers would disappear. He could be fearless! 

As his body was sucked into the space crack created by the token, he heard some movement in the palace hall. 

Qin Yu turned back. Blinking his eyes, he thought to himself. His intuition had been right. A strange wave of sadness washed over him.

Actually, he was feeling sad on behalf of the Saints. Was there anything more pathetic than helplessly seeing their enemy escape right before their eyes after putting in so much effort to chase him down? Furthermore, the key was personally given to Qin Yu by them. 

This feeling was an incredible sense of satisfaction. Their hearts raced and their hair stood on end. In the next instant, Gentle Spread Saint puked blood. 

This proved that Qin Yu had an incredible intuition and his intelligence was superb. Blood spurted out of Gentle Spread Saint like a fountain and he grew mad from anger.

He glared deathly at the illusionary door that was slowly disappearing. Hatred, resentment, pain, and despair filled him as tears threatened to fall from his eyes. 

How pathetic! 

He was so pathetic. 

“Ah!” Gentle Spread Saint cried like a mad man and his aura surged uncontrollably around him. 

Gentle Smoke Saint frowned deeply but remained silent. His eyes held the same pain and anger as his brother’s. 

Virtuous Nine must die!

Not everyone felt similarly to the twin brothers. Wind, Cloud and Rain wore dark looks across their faces and they held a lot of resentment in their eyes as they stared at the twin brothers. 

“Gentle Spread Saint, how incredible you are! I have so much admiration for you!” Wind Saint clenched his teeth as he said sarcastically. 

“Shut up!” Gentle Smoke Saint yelled, “We were the ones who found the Crystal Token. If you guys had not chased after us relentlessly, how would things have come to this?” 

He stepped forward with a cold glare in his eyes, “You guys must take the responsibility for that!” 

Rain Saint scoffed, “What a joke. You guys gave the key to him, why are you blaming it on us? You guys are the fools!” 

Their eyes burned with rage and they were all like a volcano about to erupt. 

They had narrowly missed him. If they were just slightly faster, the result would have been different. The Three Saints had wanted to go in this direction but the twin brothers thought otherwise. In the end, they went another way and wasted so much time. 

“Damn it!” Gentle Smoke Saint yelled as he raised his hands threateningly. 

Slap! 

He was stopped by Gentle Spread Saint. With bloodshot eyes, he spoke in a hoarse voice, “It is too late and crying over spilt milk is useless. Unless you guys want to fight to the death again, shut up!”

Silence filled the air. 

Rain Saint was about to say something but was stopped by Cloud Saint. He shook his head at Rain Saint and instructed him to leave the twin brothers alone. Everyone knew what to do and it was pointless to continue arguing. Yet, all of them felt very unsatisfied. 

Finally, Gentle Spread Saint sighed deeply. His eyes flung open, revealing his bloodshot gaze, “Wait…we will wait here until he returns. He will definitely be back!”
