Fang Xinxin dearly wished that a lighter would appear out of nowhere at this moment.

It was too difficult to create a fire with wood.

It was a pity that they truly did not have access to any other tools.

Around an hour later, with Bai Qinghao’s persistent effort, sparks finally formed from the tree branches and the dried leaves began to burn.

“This is amazing! We finally have a fire!” The joy on her face was plain to see.

Bai Qinghao’s brows relaxed. He immediately added the withered grass he had collected earlier into the firepit. As the fire grew stronger, he added some thin branches and finally some thicker firewood…

Fang Xinxin watched his actions closely. She knew that he was well-trained in outdoor survival skills.

Through her past life, she had learned that all his combat skills and gun skills were obtained through real life experience and proper training.

Thus, he was able to remain composed on an uninhabited island like this. He was unflustered as he did what they needed to survive.

She glanced at the pile of thick tree branches outside the shed. It would be sufficient to keep the fire burning till midnight.

If they carefully rationed it, the fire could even last through the night.

Most importantly, with a fire, they could cook now.

Fang Xinxin glanced at the large rock he had previously found. It had a large dip in the center. He had clearly intended to use it as a wok.

It was a pity that they still could not cook without water.

Both of them were well-educated and understood that seawater contained too many minerals and salt. Eating food cooked with seawater would affect their health and in rare cases, it could even poison them.

In other words, they could only use drinkable water to cook.

However, they had yet to locate any water sources within a kilometer from where they were.

Both of them relied on the water they collected every morning to keep themselves hydrated. They absolutely could not use it to cook.

Fang Xinxin sighed internally. She knew that Bai Qinghao wanted to give her the best and hoped he would not be upset.

She smiled and said, “Hubby, have you ever had barbecued sea crabs?”

Bai Qinghao was also troubled by the lack of water. Since young, he had been trained by the best of the best. Thus, his survival skills and combat skills were very good.

Considering his unique status, he would not have survived till this day if it were not for his abilities.

He did not mind the current, difficult conditions. As long as he was with Xinxin, he felt that he would always be happy.

However, he truly could not bear to put her through any sufferings.

He watched as she smiled beautifully and was smart enough to realize that she was intentionally putting on an act to stop him from worrying.

He swore that he would improve their living conditions tomorrow.

“No.” He shook his head. He truly never had barbequed sea crabs in the past.

“In that case, we’re in luck tonight.” She found several long branches from the pile and pierced them through the crabs. She then placed it in the fire pit to cook.

Bai Qinghao saw that it wasn’t easy for her to pierce the branches through the crabs. Thus, he quickly fastened several long branches to the top of the firepit. This way, a makeshift barbeque grill was formed.

When roasting the food, they only needed to pile the food on top of the grill. This would save a lot of energy.

Unlike most food, crabs only needed around ten minutes to cook.

The originally translucent crabs had turned red and the sweet scent of freshly cooked seafood filled the air. It stirred their appetites..
