Chapter 965: Meeting the In-laws (2)

Xu Qianqian watched from the side and said nothing. Initially, when she entered and saw Wang Yunzhong’s two sisters, she was surprised. However, because of the occasion, she didn’t ask.

At least in Xu Qianqian’s heart, she thought that Wang Yunzhong’s relationship with his two sisters was not good.

Halfway through the meal, the old lady changed the topic.

She immediately put down her chopsticks and looked at Father Xu and Mother Xu. “In-laws, we’re sitting together for the marriage of the two children this time, so let’s say some things openly. If you have any requests, tell us. We really like Qianqian. We’ll try our best to satisfy whatever we can.”

Father Xu and Mother Xu only smiled and nodded, but they didn’t know what to say.

Xu Qianqian couldn’t help but smile when she saw this. “Uncle, Auntie, my parents are more practical. Let’s just hold a normal wedding. There aren’t so many requirements.”

“Yes, as long as the two children are doing well. As elders, we don’t have so many requirements,” Father Xu said.

When the old lady heard this, she probed, “Then what we mean is to hold the wedding as soon as possible. After all, Qianqian is pregnant. We can’t let her get married with a stomach, right?”

“Yes, yes.” Father Xu nodded.

The old lady said, “Then we’ll arrange for the wedding. As for the monetary gift, we’ll give Qianqian two hundred and eighty thousand yuan and give Qianqian three gold pieces. What do you think?”

Two hundred and eighty thousand yuan was not a low amount even in Baiyun City.

…

The Xu family was from Liyang County. In Liyang County, it was considered a lot to get a hundred thousand yuan as a betrothal gift. When Father Xu and Mother Xu heard two hundred and eighty thousand yuan, they realised there was around three hundred thousand yuan as a betrothal gift.

They were shocked and thought they had heard wrongly.

However, Xu Qianqian’s expression froze when she heard this number, as if it did not satisfy her.

Father Xu and Mother Xu naturally had no objections. The Wang family was so generous that they spent so much money to marry their daughter. This made the two of them, who initially felt inferior, feel more confident.

It seemed that the other party really liked their Qianqian.

After the main wedding date and betrothal gifts were booked, they left the rest of the trivial matters regarding the wedding for Old Madam Wang to decide. Father Xu and Mother Xu nodded in agreement.

During the meal, Old Madam Wang was the only one talking. Even Old Master Wang interrupted little, as if the two of them had already discussed it at home.

As soon as they reached home after dinner, Old Madam Wang nagged at the old man, “Qianqian’s parents don’t have any opinions. We can’t count on them to help with the wedding.”

The old man looked at the old lady impatiently. “You didn’t expect anyone else to help you in the first place, right?”

“Mom, how can you handle such a big matter yourself? Let Xiao Mei and Zhi help you,” Wang Yunzhong said casually as he took off his shoes.

The old lady immediately glared at him. “Do I need them? I’m annoyed just looking at them! Didn’t you see your sister carrying that bag today? It’s such a small piece. What can it contain? Yet, it’s two hundred and sixty thousand yuan? Why didn’t she just snatch money?”

“She had money but nowhere to spend it, so she bought some fancy things!”

At the mention of Wang Yunmei, Old Madam Wang felt stifled for no reason. To her, only a lunatic would buy a bag for two hundred and sixty thousand yuan.

Seeing this, Wang Yunzhong couldn’t help but frown. He looked at the old lady and said, “She’s rich now. Can’t she spend however she wants?”
