“I’m still worried.” Qiao Shuyi was hesitant. After all, she was a daughter raised by a rich family. How could she leave her alone for a few months?

Jian Changsheng’s attitude was the opposite. Since his daughter decided to be an actress, she had to learn to face these things. This was the life in a production team. Qiao Shuyi could follow her once, but not forever. She had to let go sooner or later, right?

However, considering Qiao Shuyi’s love for her daughter, Jian Changsheng took a step back. “There’s nothing to worry about. At most, you can come to visit her once a week like I do in the future. It’s better than you doing nothing and accompanying the production team every day. Yiyi has to film and can’t take care of you.”

Hearing Jian Changsheng’s words, Jian Yiyi’s eyes lit up. She quickly said, “Mom! Dad’s idea is not bad. If you miss me, you can take a day every week to visit me.”

When Qiao Shuyi heard this, she couldn’t help but think for a moment. Seeing that her daughter and husband were trying their best to persuade her to go back, she thought about it from another perspective. It didn’t seem to be of much use for her to stay here. In the end, she nodded. “Alright, I’ll go back with your father. I can bring you something when I come to visit later.”

Jian Yiyi quickly agreed. “Yes, Mom, don’t worry about me. I’ll call you every day!”

Qiao Shuyi could only nod helplessly, but she was not completely relieved.

…

Baiyun Square has always been the most prosperous area in Baiyun City. There were a few large shopping malls and dozens of high-class restaurants there. In an inconspicuous corner of the street behind Baiyun Square was a fast food restaurant called Mr. Burger.

Although this shop was inconspicuous, its business was very popular, especially during the weekend. The customer flow almost never stopped from opening in the morning to closing at night.

This was where Guan Tao worked. She would only come two days a week on the weekend. She would earn five yuan an hour, and she could earn forty yuan if she worked eight hours a day. In 2002, earning forty yuan a day was not a low salary.

To Guan Tao, if she could earn eighty yuan in two days on the weekend, she would have enough living allowance for a week. She could even save up some money.

Although it was past mealtime, there were still many customers in the shop. Guan Tao was wearing an ill-fitting work uniform, and her main job was to take orders and clean the dining table.

Guan Tao was burying her head in cleaning the mess left behind by the customers who had just left. The door of the fast food restaurant was pushed open from the outside, and the wind chimes inside made a crisp sound.

“Welcome to Mr. Burger!” Guan Tao shouted in a loud and sweet voice. She turned around. “Please come in…”

She looked up and saw that the person standing at the door was Gao Yang!

Gao Yang was wearing a camel-colored windbreaker with a pair of black slacks and white sneakers. He blinked at Guan Tao.

Guan Tao was stunned on the spot before suddenly coming back to her senses. “You… Why are you here?”

As she spoke, Guan Tao had already walked forward and stood beside Gao Yang. She looked around and asked, “How did you find this place?”

She didn’t remember telling Gao Yang where she worked.

Gao Yang’s expressionless face softened the moment Guan Tao approached him. Hearing this, he said softly, “I saw the advertisement for this shop in your book.”
