“Witness—right; witness!”

Pei Shishi is a witness! She was there when my father died!

Dad, rest assured; I’ll definitely avenge you!

I’ll push every murderer or yours into hell! Regardless of the price that I must pay, I’ll make them regret killing you!

“Dad, I’ll definitely…”

Fu Mingxuan finally realized that something was amiss with the woman when he heard her muttering.

“Ge Ge, Ge Ge! Are you okay? Hey!”

He called her a few times, but the woman on the other end did not respond. Fearful, he nearly put on his clothes and drove to her house.

“Mhm… Senior, I’m all right.”

Pei Ge finally responded to his calls, though her voice was really soft and hoarse.

“Are you really all right? Ge Ge, don’t worry; no matter how difficult it is, I’ll pursue your father’s case and capture his murderers for sure, so don’t be too upset…”

He kept comforting her with his solemn promises, but she already had her ideas.

She knew that he would put greater effort into investigating this matter and believed that he truly wanted to help her catch her father’s murderers.

Despite all these, she understood that he would only be wasting his effort.

Just like what he had said, her father’s death had happened a long time ago.

Over a decade had passed, and some of the data to her father’s case the police had gathered then were already gone.

What was more about the evidence and witness?

Under such circumstances, how could one catch the killer? How could one seek justice for her father?

Therefore…

“Senior, thank you, but we should put a stop to this matter. You don’t have to carry on with the investigation.” With a calm expression, she slowly told the man.

The man, who was starting to get fired up, received a shock at her words.

“What?! Ge Ge, are y-you saying not to continue the investigation?”

He could not believe that those words had come from her lips.

“That’s right. We don’t need to waste more time investigating this. Let me resolve it by myself.”

“What are you saying? Resolve it alone? How will you do it?”

The man sensed something amiss from her words. Although he could not pinpoint what was wrong, he still got an ominous feeling.

“Senior, don’t worry. For my father’s sake, I will succeed.”

Technically, Pei Shishi… isn’t difficult to deal with, is she?

When they were children, she was not even as smart as her. Her cousin only succeeded in plotting against her because she had treated her as family.

Right now…

She would not let the ‘family member’ that hurt her father get away!

“Ge Ge, don’t be rash! You—”

“Alright, senior. It’s getting late. Thanks for your help these past few days. Rest early. Good night!”

“Ge Ge, wait! What are you planning to do? Tell me about it and don’t do anything silly!”

Knowing that something was indeed off about her, he got agitated such that his volume had pitched higher. His usual composure completely vanished as well.

“Be at ease; I won’t do anything silly.”

In a place where the man could not see, Pei Ge’s lips curled into a cold sneer.

Although I am willing to sacrifice my precious life for father, I will certainly not ruin myself because of those bastards!

I’ll live a more blissful and longer life than those bastards! I will then watch them suffer and live their lives in perpetual regret!

After hanging up the call, she felt unusually calm; this was probably because she had decided.

“Hoo…” Taking in a deep breath, she dispelled all her foul feelings.

“Dad, I’ll surely avenge you…” After softly mumbling this, she got a hold of a pen and paper. She sat at the desk and began drafting a plan.

As she was writing down her plan, her phone rang again.

The woman was so absorbed in her writing that she did not intend to pick up the call.

Alas, the caller seemed to be very adamant. It was as though if she did not pick up, he would keep calling her.

Without a choice, she could only pick up the call.

Since she was focused on her writing, she did not see clearly who the caller was.

“Hello…”

Picking up the phone, her voice had a hint of impatience.

Who knew that the person on the other end would remain silent even when she spoke?

“Hello? Who are you? I’ll hang up if you’re not going to speak.”

Her mood was not very good to begin with, so she spoke in an unfriendly manner on the phone.

The person began to speak lightly thereafter, apparently cowed by her threat.

“Who were you on the phone with earlier?”

That deep and clear voice drifted into the woman’s ears from the phone. That voice sounded so familiar and made her agitated…

“…”

This familiar voice made her brows furrow slightly. Probably because she was on an emotional rollercoaster, she was not excited at all to hear the voice of Ji Ziming who had disappeared for some days.

Rather, it sounded too calm that it was overly creepy.

“Ji Ziming?” she asked with uncertainty.

Who knew that a certain great CEO would become even more upset upon hearing her addressing him in this way?

“It’s Ziming.”

Hearing this familiar conversation, her lips could not help but curl upward.

It’s indeed Ziming…

“Who were you on the phone with earlier?”

The man repeated his earlier question, which she did not answer.

However, the response that he got was: Du, du, du… This was the sound made when she hung up the phone.

Listening to this sound, the great CEO, who was currently by himself, was completely at a loss.

“Hmph! Fancy asking me when he doesn’t even have an explanation after disappearing for so long! I’ll let him have a taste of being unable to contact someone right now!”
