“Sister Pei Ge, you are also unable to contact my cousin?!”

“Are you serious?! Mr. Ji went missing?! Gosh! Don’t tell me that the groom ran away? You guys only have a few days to the wedding!”

Two voices suddenly broke the elegant and warm atmosphere in the dessert shop, startling the other customers who were enjoying their desserts.

In fact, their attention had been attracted to these two voices.

Pei Ge speechlessly glared at Qin Qitong and Lily when she felt the intense gazes of those around them.

“Can you two lower your volume?! You don’t have to speak so loudly! Don’t you know that we are in a public area?!”

“Aish, it’s only because what you said was too shocking so I couldn’t help myself!”

“Indeed! Sister Pei Ge, why did you say earlier that you couldn’t reach cousin?! My uncle and aunt thought that you are in contact with him, so they didn’t look for him.”

The two friends protested. Although they spoke different sets of words, the worry in their eyes was the same.

They were worried that the groom was missing with the wedding very near. They were even more worried that the groom would still be missing on the wedding day.

“Aiya, you guys are overthinking this.”

She waved their worries off.

“Ziming only went on a business trip. Don’t think too much into it.”

“Ge Ge, how big is your heart exactly? Even if he is on a business trip, his phone can’t possibly be switched off all the time!” Seeing that she was still trying to defend the man, Lily instantly flared up.

“That’s right! Although he is my cousin, I still think that there is a problem with him on this issue!” Qin Qitong also nodded her head strongly, expressing her opinion without any signs of helping her close relative.

“…”

Seeing that both her best friends were being this concerned for her sake, Pei Ge finally lowered her head and stared blankly at the desserts in her plate.

Actually, her nonchalant attitude about the man was just an act.

Only god knew how worried she was about him.

She was not afraid that he was missing because of the upcoming wedding; she was merely worried that he got into an accident outside.

Moreover, there was something that she minded even more inside.

“Ge Ge, are you okay?”

“Sister Pei Ge, I didn’t say something overboard on purpose. Don’t be sad. My cousin must be on a business trip! He must’ve switched his phone off because of something!”

Realizing that their words had an adverse effect on her, both panicked.

She noticed how her two best friends were at a loss on what to do when they saw her sorrowful gaze and suddenly burst out laughing.

“Sister Pei Ge, you really scared me to death!”

“Stupid Ge Ge! You’re not allowed to frighten people by acting all deep and serious next time! You scared this old ‘man’ so much I almost had a heart attack!”

The moment he finished his statement, Pei Ge immediately burst out laughing again.

“Pfft! Lily, you were so manly just then! I’ve never seen you look so manly!”

“Ha ha ha! Yes, yes, yes! His voice dipped so much lower, and he even called himself an ‘old man’! Should I say that he is indeed a man? A total young-master material! Ha ha ha!”

Qin Qitong also joined in, laughing.

“Hey! Don’t laugh, you guys! Stop laughing! You guys are too much! Stop laughing!”

Lily felt embarrassed and angry at their laughter and indignantly glared at them both. He held back his breath and warned, “You guys had better forget what just happened! You’re not allowed to say that I am a young-master material! This is the biggest insult to me.”

Who knew, though, that his words would make the two ladies’ laughter to turn more boisterous?

“Ha ha! The biggest insult!”

“Ha ha!”

“Continue laughing and see if I will help you do your makeup and style again!”

“No, no, no! We won’t laugh anymore. Okay…”

The trio continued their banter for some time, driving away the depressive mood from earlier as their faces glowed with joy.

“Sister Pei Ge, after thinking about it for a while, my cousin loves you so much, so what our words are definitely far from the truth.”

“Yes, I also gave it some thought. With Sir Ji’s personality, if he wants to run away from the wedding, he’ll directly call it off instead of going missing.” The two concluded together. “That’s why we both think that he must be at a place with poor cellphone reception! He should be back in a few days!”

She felt warm in her heart at the two reassuring her together.

This was despite the bit of gloominess she felt because of this matter with Ji Ziming.

“Guys, do you think…”

She pressed her lips together as a look of hesitation flashed past her face, as though she was conflicted about revealing something.

“Hm? What’s wrong, Ge Ge?”

“What’s wrong, Sister Pei Ge? What do you want to say?”

The two friends looked at her curiously, not knowing what she wanted to say.

“You two, come closer.”

Finally, as if having decided, she beckoned them closer.

“For what? So secretive,” the two muttered a little confusedly; still, they went closer to her out of curiosity.

She swept her eyes on their surroundings. Seeing that no one was paying further attention to them, she used an extremely soft voice to say, “Do you guys think… that Ziming suddenly went overseas because he didn’t like my body…”

“Huh?”

“Ah?”

Not just the naïve girl, even the old stylist did not get her point.

“The night before he left, w-we did it… then he went on a business trip the next day. Also, his message was very cold, and after that, I couldn’t contact him anymore. Do you think… that it’s because my body didn’t satisfy him?”
