Chapter 824: Relying on a man is not a capability; relying on yourself is.

It was only her first day at work, yet she was already causing quite a commotion.

Basically, all the Ji Group employees were discussing about her taking up the planning manager position.

As expected, everyone thought that she had relied on him to get this managerial position.

Everyone, especially those in her department, was very unsatisfied with her taking up this position.

“Our new manager doesn’t seem to be very competent.”

“Exactly. Our boss’s assistant is the highest position she has ever held. What qualifications does she have to be our manager?”

“What are you guys rushing up for? We don’t need to be dissatisfied over this for long. Our department’s Director Xu isn’t just for show!”

“True. That director doesn’t have a good temper, especially to those women who rely on men to get their positions. I think that even if our manager is the CEO’s girlfriend, she’ll still be unable to win against our female devil!”

“Tsk! The background of this one is different; she’s our boss’s girlfriend! Also, she’s the first girlfriend to be acknowledged by him!”

“What of it? Even if our director’s personality isn’t good, she’s at least very capable! Many companies are trying to poach her, so relax. Our CEO isn’t that stupid to make things hard for the director just because of one woman.”

“Yes. Although I don’t like our director, I must admit that she’s truly very competent…”

Pei Ge, who had merely come out to take a breather and check the company’s situation, heard this discussion about her by coincidence.

She helplessly pursed her lips at this.

It was a given that these employees would think she got such an important position due to her being the big boss’s girlfriend.

Still, she felt a little down upon hearing these people say such things about her.

Work hard, Pei Ge! You must show them your capabilities and have them acknowledge your skills!

She encouraged herself inwardly as she strode back to her office.

Once she got to her office, she surprisingly found a woman sitting on the sofa for guests inside.

This woman was none other than the other lead of the employees’ discussion earlier.

“Director Xu?”

She was nonplussed to find this woman here.

“Why are you here?”

It must be mentioned that this director was just as what those people had described her: She did not have a good temper.

That was because she could easily feel a strong and fierce aura from her.

Although this woman was not ugly, she was not pretty either.

She seemed to be around 40 years old. Her makeup was done well, but it could not hide her fierce look.

Her eyes, especially, were slanted upward, giving off a ferocious vibe.

“Manager, it is now the working hours. Please don’t move around needlessly.”

Her attention was instantly piqued by this. This woman is really as fierce as she looks.

“Director Xu, I only went out for a while and did not leave for long,” she explained in a hushed voice.

“Is that so? I’ve waited here for some time.”

The director gave her a caustic smile.

“…” This made her certain that this director had a bad impression of her and was here to look for trouble!

“Manager, I know that you have our CEO’s backing and that you are his girlfriend. Although I don’t understand why he’d place you on this position, what I want to say is that, since you are now under me, you will have to follow my rules.”

Pei Ge pursed her lips lightly but did not speak and just kept listening to her.

“I don’t care if you are capable or not. I don’t even care if you are here merely to spend your days. After all, you are the CEO’s girlfriend.”

At this point, she was frowning deeply.

This director doesn’t put me in her eye at all. In fact, she doesn’t intend to leave me with a shred of dignity.

She views me with disdain and despise.

“I only have one request, and that is for you to stay here quietly and not give me any irritating trouble, or else I won’t care that you are the CEO’s girlfriend and will drive you out of the Ji Group.”

Director Xu eyed this woman derisively.

What she hated the most were women who relied on men to assume positions.

This woman did not possess exceptional beauty but was able to snag their big boss. This made her feel even more disgusted.

Average women like us should rely on ourselves. Relying on men is beneath us!

She thought that saying all those things to this small fry was enough to frighten her; unexpectedly…

“Director, are you done speaking?” Seeing that the woman had finally shut her mouth, Pei Ge’s frown loosened as she put on an amicable smile.

“Yes,” replied the other coldly.

“Since you’re done, it’s now my turn.”

She put on an apt smile and regarded the director openly.

“I can understand why you are looking down on me; it’s because you think that I got this position not because I did something significant but because I relied on my boyfriend.

“However, this is just our first meeting. As the person in charge of this department, don’t you think that saying such things to me is very disrespectful?

“Also, how can you be so sure that I relied on your CEO to get this position? You’ve been working at the Ji Group for so long; you should know better than anyone what type of person your boss is, or perhaps you think that he’s the kind to be used by a woman?”

Her successive questions made the director’s caustic attitude toward her diminish. Instead, the woman’s face slowly turned blank.

“Anyway, I think that there’s a need for me to tell you this: Appointing me as the new planning manager was done by my boyfriend’s father. It has nothing to do with your boss.”
