“Pei Ge, I’m officially appointing you as the Ji Group’s planning manager.”

She was stunned when she heard this.

She looked up at him in disbelief.

“U-Uncle, what did you just say? P-Planning manager?!” she stuttered, frightened.

“Pfft! Look at how scared Ge Ge is because of you.” Madam Ji smilingly shook her head.

Mister Ji only lifted his brow coldly and snorted. “You’ve already experienced running a whole company. Why are you still giving me this reaction? It’s merely a planning manager position.”

“…” She speechlessly nudged her lips and commented inside, What do you mean by a mere planning manager?! This is the Ji Group we’re talking about!

It’s one of the 500 most successful companies in the world. Let alone the capital, can anyone not know of the Ji Group across China?

Can Tianjin’s Jiaheng compare to it? Can it? The answer is of course not!

“Uncle, I think… that this position is a bit—”

He cut her off.

“What? Not satisfied with it? This is the only vacancy in the company right now; if you want to be promoted, you must use your abilities to kick those above you out. The Ji Group is fair to all employees.”

“…” She nudged her lips, feeling helpless at this.

“Uncle, you’ve got the wrong idea. I think that it’s a bit too high, actually. I don’t think it’s right for me to become the planning manager fast.”

She tactfully pointed out. She had heard before that he planned to transfer her to the Ji Group’s main office after she was done dealing with the matters in Tianjin, but she had not once expected that she would get promoted to such a high position by him!

“Not right? I think it’s just right. If you have nothing on, we’ll sign the contract now and take this time to familiarize you with the job.”

He raised his hand casually.

“Uncle, I haven’t done any planning before; I’m really not confident with this position,” she insisted.

Indeed, she had not received proper training and had not even stayed long in the planning department before.

The position she had always held was that of a lowly assistant. Although she was a CFO for a period, her experience in the real-estate industry was just meager…

Mister Ji was displeased by her repeated rejections and excuses.

Although he hated those who did not have the skills to back their arrogance, he hated more those overly modest to the point of being self-abased.

Jiaheng’s recovery gave him high expectations for her. He was even seeing a bright future from her.

Unfortunately, his son’s girlfriend lacked the confidence…

“Hmph! Planning is about coming up with ideas and strategies. Business planning is to help a business find a direction for growth and progress, and the one in charge of overseeing the planning process and final strategy is the planning manager.”

With a cold glance at her, he stiffly explained this.

Although she was confused at first, his next words warmed her heart.

“When you were acting as Jiaheng’s CFO, you showed a keen eye for planning and strategy. Your view is far and wide, and you can find new opportunities for a company. These are enough proof that you have the makings of an excellent planning manager.”

‘You have the makings of an excellent planning manager.’

This statement played on a loop in her head. She did not expect him to praise her openly.

What was more surprising was that his impression of her turned out to be this good…

“Thank you… Thank you. I’ll definitely do my best.”

Looking grateful and touched, she earnestly thanked him. Her voice was filled with joy and sincerity.

Seeing the grateful and joyful look on her face, he lightly coughed and continued. “Of course, if you don’t perform well, then you don’t need to resign. The planning director will personally fire you.”

“I understand! I’ll definitely treasure this chance, uncle, and strive to be a competent planning manager!”

Although he was pouring cold water on her, how could she still not understand his awkward personality? Hence, she just smiled brightly at him.

“Just to be a competent planning manager?” He cocked an eyebrow and regarded her with displeasure.

She laughed inwardly at this but kept a neutral face outwardly as she said seriously, “Yes! I’ll definitely work hard to kick out those above me and get their position!”

“Mhm.” He nodded approvingly.

At this point, Madam Ji could not bear to watch this scene further and glared at her husband. “Old Ji, what are you teaching this lass to do?! What kick others out to get their position?”

Ha ha! She laughed inside as she listened to Madam Ji’s grumbling. In fact, she had only said that to tease her boyfriend’s father.

Unexpectedly, she stumbled upon his true intention, causing the man to feel satisfied.

Ha ha! This is becoming more amusing!

“The business world is like a battlefield. If one wants to succeed, they must be decisive, merciless, and dedicated. Those in our line of work can’t be meek lambs.”

He lifted a bluish white porcelain tea cup and placed it on his lips to take a sip, thereafter.

“Our Ge Ge is so clever. Even if she’s not merciless, with just her dedication, she can reach great heights! She’ll be part of our Ji family soon, so she should be treated specially!”

Madam Ji rolled her eyes at him.

“Hmph! If she doesn’t have even one unkind bone in her body, how is she going to survive being part of our Ji family?”

He disagreed with his wife’s point of view.

“Yes, she’s talented, but if she just relies on our family, then she’ll never grow! Also, she can’t stay in our Ji Group forever. She is bound to start her company in the future. What will she do when that time comes?”
