It was probably due to the girl’s words that Pei Ge felt nervous right now.

“Sister Pei Ge, why can’t I see you anywhere? Aiya, hurry up and come over! My uncle will be here soon!”

The urgency in the girl’s voice brought her back to reality, and she intuitively rushed into the company lobby.

Qin Qitong grabbed her by the arm the moment she stepped into the lobby.

“Sister Pei Ge, where have you been? I couldn’t find you anywhere!”

There was a smile on the girl’s face, yet all she could think of was her use of the word ‘father-in-law’.

“He he! My uncle will definitely like you.” The girl smiled at how nervous she looked.

Pausing a little, she asked, “Why?”

“My uncle adores simple, obedient girls and despises manipulative, scheming women. Since you’re so good-natured, my uncle will of course not dislike you,” the young lady replied matter-of-factly, not considering the possibility of her cousin’s dad disliking Pei Ge.

Qin Qitong’s explanation made her of what had happened earlier outside the company.

Er… Ji Ziming’s dad doesn’t dislike that type of behavior from women, right?

As she pondered on this, unbeknown to her, the man’s father had witnessed exactly that uncharacteristic display of hers.

…

A luxurious but inconspicuous silver Rolls-Royce was parked not far from the company building. Thankfully, it was office hours now, or else a lot of people would stop to gawk at this car, but even so, many of those passing by turned to stare at it.

“Master, where have you been? I’ve been looking for you.”

The car door suddenly opened from the inside, and a middle-aged man wearing white gloves stepped out from the driver’s seat.

The man in a chauffeur’s attire addressed Father Ji politely.

“Let’s go” Father Ji glanced at the driver and gave this authoritative order.

The driver looked confusedly at him. “Eh? Leave? I thought master wants to see the young master’s company?”

“I’ve already seen it; it’s enough.” He frowned, sounding unhappy.

“Ah? Seen it already? So fast?” The driver became even more confused at his reply.

Raising a brow, he glared at his driver coldly. “Less talking and just get moving.”

“Oh, okay, okay.” This was when the driver realized that his boss was in a bad mood.

Thus, he astutely opened the door for the man as he mulled over his boss’s bad mood. He’s still okay earlier, so what caused his grumpiness? Did someone upset him?

The car quickly left Chenguang Real Estate. No one knew that a person of a higher standing than the great CEO Ji had once been there.

Er, actually, the two ladies at the lobby were aware of it!

“Eh? That’s strange. Uncle called me earlier and said that he’ll be here around this time; why is he not here yet?” Qin Qitong mumbled, glancing at her watch.

“What’s wrong?” Pei Ge also grew confused when she saw the girl act like this.

They had been standing in the company lobby for a while, and it was almost time for work…

“Sister Pei Ge, this is so weird! By now, my uncle should have been here already…” she complained, her brows furrowing.

“Qitong, work is about to start soon. I think we’d better go up first. If your cousin’s dad is really coming, he should be here to inspect the company, right? That has got nothing to do with us…” She persuaded other softly.

Speaking of which, if she were to meet the annoying fellow’s dad now, she would feel terrified.

His mom was not bad as she came across as an easygoing and amiable elder, so there was no pressure being around her.

As for his dad…

An image of middle-aged man resembling the annoying fellow appeared in her head.

Just that thought was enough to scare her!

“Sister Pei Ge, who said that my uncle will be here to inspect the company and that it has nothing to do with you?” Qin Qitong pouted, her slightly louder voice breaking the other woman’s chain of thought.

“Ah?” Pei Ge was nonplussed, and a foreboding rose in her heart. “Wh-What do you mean?”

“Although my uncle said that he’s coming to inspect the company, he’s actually visiting especially to meet you!” The girl could not hold it in any further and told her the truth.

“Huh? Huh?! Here to meet me?” At once, her eyes widened at the girl in disbelief.

“Uh-huh. Yes, my uncle is actually coming here just to see you today!” She confirmed this to her with a smile.

“Sister Pei Ge, don’t look at me like that. I only found out about when he called me earlier,” she defended, feeling uncomfortable at the other’s pointed stare.

“What’s all this about?” Pei Ge felt a little dizzy.

The annoying fellow’s dad was especially coming to see her, but… what was there to see about her? Was it because she was his son’s girlfriend? It was really unnecessary, right? She was not married to that annoy—

Ehhhhh? Could it be that her marriage certificate with that annoying fellow had been seen by his parents?

An idea flashed across her mind. The trip the man’s dad made to see her, could it be related to his ‘MIA’ status? With that, her imagination began to run wild.

Could it be that…

His dad realized that his son had gone behind his back and married her, so they had him locked up?!

En. That was quite likely! Had they not said that Ji Ziming’s first relationship ended because of his parents’ interference?
