He frowned at the voice coming through the receiver and instantly figured out the reason for that woman’s queer behavior.

“You came to look for her last night?’ he coldly questioned.

“Huh? N-No, no! I certainly did not!” Mu Heng hastily denied, stuttering out a few noes in the process, and ended up giving him away to his best friend.

“What did you tell her?” The man squinted coldly as he pressured his Casanova friend.

“Ziming, I really didn’t tell her anything!” Knowing that he was already caught, he truthfully recounted his actions.

“I didn’t say much. I merely joked about you most likely not returning home due to a woman…”

The man’s frown deepened at his explanation.

“Mu Heng, I think you are too free lately,” he coldly remarked, sounding very serious.

“No, no! I’m certainly not, Elder Brother! I came over last night to look for you, but who knew that you wouldn’t be at home? Also, what I said is the truth—”

The further he spoke, the surer he became that he had not done anything wrong.

“Ziming, don’t mind me for saying this; if you are really in a relationship with Little Chili, then properly date her. Don’t be frivo—”

He hung up the call before his best friend could finish speaking.

Putting the phone to one side, he surveyed the empty room with desolate eyes.

Meanwhile, the person, whose call had been hung up by the man, felt all his hair stand on end.

“I’m dead; I’m dead! I’m dead for sure this time!” With his best friend hanging up on him wordlessly, a flustered look descended on his usually dandy face.

All he could think of was: Dead! I’m dead! I’ll surely be tortured to death by that petty man this time!

“No! I should flee first for now!”

He then swiftly packed his luggage and took out his passport, intending to lie low overseas.

As for Pei Ge, she was entirely clueless on what had transpired between the two men.

She did not think much about anything and just attended her classes for the day.

She was initially against attending these classes, which seemed pretty useless to her, but after learning them for some time, she realized that the knowledge she got here were in fact invaluable.

Gradually, she grew to like these classes, especially the etiquette class.

Although her mentor for the etiquette class was very strict, she realized that, thanks to the person’s teaching, she had become more elegant over time.

While the chance was minute to her, others viewed it as quite remarkable.

Take for example her mother; she had just moved houses a few days ago, yet when she returned home that weekend, her mother actually praised her posture.

“Ge Ge, what kind of training is your company giving in this training camp? Why do I feel that you’ve become prettier?” Zhang Manhua was stunned at the transformation of her daughter in these few days that they had been apart.

“Huh? Did I?” She blinked in confusion. I only went to study at Bauhinia Court as per usual.

“Yes, you did! You used to walk with your toes slightly pointing outward in the past. Now…” She grinned. “From the moment you entered, your steps were… aligned properly. It feels that…”

She frowned and thought for a while before her eyes lit up again.

“Elegance! You seem to be a little more elegant now!”

She bobbed her head to agree with her own observation.

Pei Ge blinked and mumbled inside, What elegance?

“Mom, you must’ve missed me a lot!” She smiled.

Who knew, though, that her mother would excitedly clap her hands together the moment she smiled? “Even your smile is elegant now! It’s like the young mistresses in dramas!”

“…” Ugh?

She was stunned for a moment. Belatedly, she realized that the elegance her mother was talking about was most likely related to the etiquette taught by one of her teachers in Bauhinia Court.

She had just learned how to walk and smile demurely recently.

Oof! The results are a little too remarkable!

“Ge Ge, what exactly are you guys studying in that training camp? Look at how much you’ve changed after just a few days. Even your elegance has been enhanced!” her mother asked, her eyes lighting up in happiness.

“He he! Mom, our company has arranged etiquette lessons for us.” She smiled at her mother.

Zhang Manhua only nodded again and praised, “You company is really good! How much longer will this training camp last?”

How much longer will this training last? I don’t know about that.

“I’m not sure. Probably still quite some time,” she replied with a smile.

“Then, you should properly learn everything during your training. I think that this etiquette class is really good!” Zhang Manhua held her hands with a smile.

“Okay, I will.” She nodded solemnly. She would put effort into the class even without her mother saying it!

“Can you adjust to living in the company dormitory?” Zhang Manhua continued to ask about her daughter’s life away from her.

“It’s fine. I’m used to it now,” she quickly replied.

Can’t I get used to it? That house is where we used to live! I can’t get any more used to it!

I’m more used to that garden-themed villa than the owner of that house, Ji Ziming, himself.

Noting that her daughter did not seem to be lying, Zhang Manhua finally felt at ease.

“Are you staying together with your colleague?”

Her next question made Pei Ge freeze.

“Er…”

A little taken aback, she was at a loss on how to answer her mother’s question.

“What’s wrong?” Confusion flashed past her mother’s eyes at her stunned look.

“Ah, nothing. I just thought of my roommate.” She covered up her blunder with a smile.

“Hm? Aren’t you getting along with your roommate?” Zhang Manhua asked, concerned.

“It’s not that we don’t get along well; rather, I don’t really like my ‘roommate’.” She had a serious look.

“Why? Is it because your roommate doesn’t clean after their mess?” Her mother probed in concern.

“It’s not that, too. My roommate is a pretty clean person, except…” She blinked as images of the past few days she had spent with the man flashed across her mind.

“This roommate is nitpicky and too lazy! Plus, a little petty!”
