“Aiya, Ge Ge. How did you end up serving me tea and snacks? You child, you are too polite! He he!”

Mother Ji, who was reading a magazine on the sofa, promptly stood up and affectionately said that to a certain stranger in a white dress. The corners of Pei Ge’s mouth twitched when she witnessed this scene.

Can someone tell me if my appearance is so plain that she even mistakes another person for me?!

“Qitong, is this what you mean by your auntie liking me a lot?” She turned to look at the girl beside her, not knowing how to react to the situation.

Is this what she means by her auntie liking me so much? I guess not!

Will she mistake another person for me if she really likes me?

“Ugh… Sister Pei Ge, please don’t misunderstand.” The girl pouted with exasperation at Mother Ji, who had just identified the wrong person.

“Auntie, you mistook—”

The middle-aged madam looked in their direction with reprimand on her face. “Tongtong, didn’t I tell you to show Ge Ge around? Why did you make her serve me tea and snacks from the kitchen, instead?”

“Auntie, you—” Listen to me! You recognized the wrong person!

She was cut off again.

“Hm? Tongtong, when did you bring another friend over?”

She looked at Pei Ge, who was standing next to her niece, with a lost expression.

“…” Pei Ge: Cries! Auntie, we have clearly just met!

“…” Qin Qitong: Auntie, can you please let me finish speaking first?!

“Tongtong, what’s wrong? What’s with that look? Did I say something wrong?” Noting her niece’s exasperation, Mother Ji posed this question innocently.

“Auntie, listen to me first.” The girl pursed her lips to calm herself down.

“Mhm? What do you want to say?” She looked at her with perplexity.

“I just want to tell you that the one standing beside me is Sister Pei Ge, whereas the one standing beside you and serving you tea is a waitress.” The girl smiled helplessly at her. “Auntie, you. recognized. the. wrong. person.”

“Huh? Recognized the wrong person?” Mother Ji’s eyes widened at that. Turning her eyes on the woman beside her, she then looked at Pei Ge who was standing beside her niece. “But… Ge Ge’s hair was clearly tied into a neat bun…”

Pei Ge somehow sensed Mother Ji giving off the I-have-been-wronged vibe.

Er… That’s not right! Why is she feeling wronged? Clearly, I should be the one feeling that way.

I only changed my hairstyle and my ‘boyfriend’s’ mother couldn’t recognize me anymore! Right now, I feel like I’ve fallen into a trap!

Noting her aunt’s aggrieved look, Qin Qitong rolled her eyes exasperatedly. “I accidentally messed up Sister Pei Ge’s hair moments ago, and since I think that she looks better with her hair down, I told her to just let it hang loosely.”

“Oh, so it’s like that.” Mother Ji nodded understandingly before she glared at her niece indignantly. “You child, why did you mess up Ge Ge’s hair for nothing?”

Great. Now, I just committed an embarrassing blunder before my son’s girlfriend.

Qin Qitong could not help shivering under her aunt’s grudge-filled gaze. She said helplessly, “No, but, auntie, think about it; do you really think that I will make Sister Pei Ge serve you tea and snacks from the kitchen? It’s clearly your fault!

“Also, Sister Pei Ge’s clothes aren’t even the same as that waitress’. It’s all because of your carelessness!”

Her mind went blank as she listened to the two’s exchange.

What in the world is going on?

“Stop, stop, stop. What are you guys talking about?” When she saw that the two’s bickering was about to get worse, she quickly moved to stop them.

Only then did the pair realize that she had a look of total confusion on her face.

“Ah. Tongtong, didn’t you tell Ge Ge about my condition?” Mother Ji pointed to her face when she asked this question.

Shaking her head, Qin Qitong pouted. “I forgot about it since I don’t think it’s important.”

“Look here; I already told you to tell her about it long ago. If you did, things wouldn’t happen in this way!”

“… Auntie, you’re clearly trying to force your faulty logic here!”

As the two were about to start another round of childish bickering, she sucked in a deep breath and asked domineeringly, “What condition does auntie have? Qitong, tell me about it first.”

Could it be that auntie has face blindness, so she mistook another person for me?

Her conjecture was soon confirmed by the girl. She was indeed spot on!

“Oh, it’s like this, Sister Pei Ge…” Her domineering attitude reminded Qin Qitong strongly of her cousin.

Thus, she decided to set aside her quarrel with her aunt to give Sister Pei Ge a reply.

“Actually, my auntie has a serious case of face blindness. It’s just like what happened moments ago; she confuses one person for another if they so much as change their hairstyle or wear the same clothes…”

“So, when I let my hair hang loosely, she didn’t recognize me anymore and mistook another person for me, instead?” She finished her words.

“Yes, that’s it,” the girl confirmed.

“…” She was made momentarily speechless by that knowledge.

Although she did hear about face blindness before, she only ever encountered it on TV or online. Never had she expected to meet someone with that condition in reality.

“He he… Ge Ge, don’t blame auntie for not recognizing you. Because of my face blindness, I can only identify people based on their clothes, hairstyle, unique features, and voice. Even then, I am not entirely accurate and often mistake people…”

Pei Ge’s heart went out to her.

With such a condition, it means that she doesn’t remember her husband and son’ looks, right? How sad must she be?

“No, Auntie. Of course, I don’t blame you. How hard must it be for you with your face blindness…”
