“You jerk! What do you think marriage is?! A game?!”

Unable to control her emotions, she pointed and screamed at him.

Her scream drew the many people’s notice in the lobby, causing the two of them to become the center of attention.

However, at this time, no trace of anger could be seen on Ji Ziming’s face.

In fact… his eyes crinkled at the corner with laughter.

Seeing the laughter in his eyes, Pei Ge was infuriated further as she thought that he was mocking her.

She bellowed, “It’s you who dragged me here to get married, and now it’s also you who refuse to get married! What do you want exactly?! Does toying with me fun?!”

The moment these words left her mouth, the crowd started buzzing with the man as their topic.

“Ai ya. That handsome man being the one to suggest marriage, I totally didn’t see that coming.”

“Indeed. How did that woman catch that handsome man’s eye? She’s not even pretty and definitely not on that handsome man’s level.”

“Who knows? Everyone has different tastes; maybe, that man likes that type of girl.”

“He he he! Didn’t you guys hear that woman say that that man is just toying with her and doesn’t really want to marry her?”

“Aiyo! How outrageous! How could that man do that? Marriage is one of the most important events in a woman’s life; how could he play around with it?”

The murmurings of the crowd, especially the middle-aged women, made her feel extremely awkward.

Despite this, the source of hubbub did not share her sentiment at all. He was still his ever indifferent self. In fact, he did not seem to hear the noise around them as he directed all his attention to her; it was as if he could only see her.

“Forget it; since you don’t want to anymore, let’s not get married.” She sucked in a deep breath to calm her raging heart and pressed her lips with resolve.

She resolutely turned away from him after saying that, clearly not wanting to see him anymore.

Actually, she was initially a little unwilling to come to the Civil Affairs Bureau with him because he had not followed the usual protocol for proposing marriage, but now that they were here and had even taken the photo for the marriage certificate… In the end, it was him who wanted to back out of this marriage.

For some reason, she felt extremely upset and stifled inside…

Forget it; forget it. It’s good if we no longer need to get married. Marriage is not a child’s play, so this is good. This is good…

Comforting herself with this thought, she lightly sighed in disappointment and moved to leave. However, just as she was about to walk away, the man, who had been silent all this while, suddenly grabbed her hand.

“I didn’t go back on my words.” While he sounded indifferent, his tone had a hint of wrongness.

Her eyes opened wide at his words.

“Wha-What do you mean by that?” Is he referring to the mar-marriage certificate?!

She did not know what to say to him.

The man’s hand was clearly icy to the touch, yet she only felt warmth radiating from it. It seemed to be heating her heart that had gone cold.

“The marriage certificate is already with me.” He raised his other hand and waved the stuff in it before her.

“The-The marriage certificate?!” she involuntarily exclaimed in shock, her voice sounding somewhat joyful.

Indeed, the man was clutching their marriage certificate in his hand.

“How-How did you get ours done so quickly?” She calmed her rapidly pounding and fluttering heart and stared numbly at the man, unsure of how to express her feelings.

A slight smile appeared on his face at her blank look, explaining, “Getting it done is a simple matter.”

Actually, before this question completely passed her lips, she already realized that he probably did not need her presence to get the marriage certificate. That was because he did not even need her residence booklet to apply for marriage!

“Oh.” She nodded and stared with twinkling eyes at the identical red booklets in his hand.

That’s our marriage certificate! I really want to see what that looks like!

He could not stifle his laughter when he saw her eyes brightly shining in curiosity.

“You want to see them?” He waved the booklets at her.

“Mhm!” She reflexively nodded and then felt embarrassed by her action thereafter.

“Here. See for yourself.” He passed the two red booklets to her as he hid his happiness from her.

She quickly grabbed the booklets from his hand.

Although they weighed almost nothing in her hands, she felt that they were densely packed.

The feel of the booklets in her hands suddenly dampened her mood.

Am I considered as a married woman now?

She pursed her lips and nervously flipped open each copy of the marriage certificate.

She could not keep herself from leaping for joy when she saw their details and photo in each booklet.

I’m truly married to Ji Ziming, this annoying fellow, now… Whatever our true relationship is, we are indeed married now.

When she did not speak and only continued checking the marriage certificate, his heart suddenly felt a mixture of calmness, peace, and warmth.

“Is our marriage certificate nice to look at?” he smilingly asked in a very gentle voice.

“Yes…” She nodded. Our marriage certificate indeed looks nice…

“Since you think that way, I’ll let you look at it some more.” He gazed at her fondly, and in that moment, he felt that he had done something right and wrong.

The whole scenario playing out like this left the audience in awe.

“Aiya… They’re really a couple, huh. They can even turn something as mundane as getting a marriage certificate into a romantic surprise…”

The crowd’s earlier sentiment of the bride’s appearance not being on par with the groom’s did a one-eighty, and now, they were only thinking that the two really looked compatible. To them, amid this warm and pinkish atmosphere, the scene was extremely pleasing to the eye.

“What a good match…”
