“Wenxin, is this the temple you’re talking about?” PEI GE asked as she looked up. The temple was no longer in ruins and was more like a broken wall. Even the entrance was covered in weeds, and the door was half-closed, as if no one was inside.

“Yes, sister Pei Pei, this is the place.” Wen Xin replied as she stuck her head in and shouted,””Is anyone there?”

“Wenxin, did you really see an emcee here just now? This place is so old and it feels like it’s going to collapse. How can someone still live here?” She expressed her doubts.

Wen Xin replied,”sister Peipei, I’m not lying to you. It’s true. When I came just now, the old host was leaning against the door. However, he didn’t seem to be in good spirits. He looked like he was on his last breath.” It can’t be …”

Just as she said this, a man’s muffled cry came from inside.

!!

“Hey, Wenxin, don’t say anything. I think someone’s crying inside!” PEI GE hissed.

“Ah?” Wen Xin frowned and pricked up her ears to listen carefully.

There was really a man’s cry! It was very soft and intermittent.

“Wenxin, let’s go in and take a look.” PEI GE said.”See if you need any help.”

“Yes.” Wen Xin nodded and quickly helped her inside.

The furnishings and arrangements inside were not as good as they looked from the outside. In fact, they were even more dilapidated. Even the incense and paper money burning stoves were covered in cobwebs and dust.

“Sister Pei Pei, it seems that no one has come to this temple to worship or add oil to it for a long time. The old Abbot lives here alone. He’s really dead, and I don’t think anyone knows.” Wen Xin mumbled softly.

Fortunately, there was the afterglow of the setting sun, which shone down from the high sky, illuminating large areas of the empty courtyard, making the temple look more glorious.

PEI GE, on the other hand, liked the retro and original architectural style.””Although many people think that temples are magnificent, some temples might be built just to shelter people from the wind and rain. No matter where the statue is, it should be able to protect the kind. It has nothing to do with the luxury of the temple.”

Wen Xin nodded, feeling that PEI GE’s words made sense.

PEI GE supported Wen Xin as they continued walking inside.””There’s a room with a curtain over there. Let’s go and take a look. Now that we can’t hear the man crying again, I wonder if someone has fainted inside or something.”

When they were about to reach a clean room, the curtain was suddenly lifted. It was the China Boy from earlier.”How did you guys end up here?”

The boy’s eyes were slightly red, and his hands were slightly clenched into fists.

PEI GE was also surprised.”Oh, so you live here. Sorry, we didn’t mean to barge in. It’s a temple, and my friend said that he saw an old Abbot. I sprained my leg and can’t leave for the time being, so I want to rest for a while. I’ll also see if there’s any anti-swelling ointment I can borrow.”

PEI GE was very sincere and was also telling the truth, so Wen Xin hurriedly explained,””Yes, I was in the wrong for what happened on the mountain. If you’re still angry, I’ll apologize to you sincerely. But it’s really inconvenient for our miss right now. Please help us. We need to rest here for the night. We can only leave the mountain tomorrow after the swelling has subsided. ”

The man hesitated for a moment before looking at her and saying,””There’s a room opposite. It’s my usual room. Although it’s simple and crude, I’ve tidied it up quite well. If you don’t mind, you can make do with it for one night. I’ll bring you the anti-swelling ointment when I find it later.”

She bowed slightly and smiled.””Okay, thank you. Sorry for the trouble.”

“Thank you for forgiving us and letting us stay for a night. We’ll pay you according to the hotel’s price, so don’t worry. ” Wen Xin said hurriedly when she saw the boy turn around to go back into the house.

The boy turned around and looked disdainfully at Wen Xin, his face filled with disgust.

Only then did PEI GE realize that Wen Xin had provoked the boy again. She hurriedly tugged at Wen Xin’s sleeve to stop her from spouting nonsense.

Then, he immediately smiled and said,”Oh, that’s not what my friend meant. She wanted to say that the repair of the temple requires some expenses. We will pay a certain amount of incense money. After all, we have disturbed the cultivation of the gods.” The boy merely glanced at Wen Xin, then without another word, lifted the curtain with his hand and walked in.

“Hey, sister Pei Pei, did I say something wrong again?” Wen Xin, who was standing at the side, pouted and asked PEI GE this when she saw the boy enter.

“That’s right, but you can’t be blamed for this. I know you mean well. But generally speaking, people who live in temples are indifferent to fame and fortune, not to mention that helping people is a good deed that monks should do. If you use money to taint their character, isn’t this no different from looking down on the gods?”

Wen Xin felt that PEI GE’s words made sense and was enlightened.””So that’s the case. No wonder he looked like he wanted to press me to the ground with his eyes after I said those few words. Alright, I was wrong. ”

PEI GE smiled and patted Wen Xin’s head, indicating for her to help her to the boy’s room.

Wen Xin immediately understood. As she returned to her room, she asked,””But, sister Pei Pei, don’t you think it’s strange? Why didn’t we hear the man’s cries after we walked in? Could it be that he heard us talking, so he stopped crying? Or was The Man Who Cried just now the same boy? To be honest, I saw his eyes were red just now. He obviously cried. ”

With Wen Xin’s help, PEI GE successfully reached the room.

Just as the boy had said, the room was very clean and tidy, without any strange smells. Although there were only beds, cabinets, tables, chairs, and the simplest ceramic tea set, everything in the room made people feel unusually comfortable.

“Wenxin, don’t make wild guesses. Maybe we heard it wrong. Even if we didn ‘t, this is someone else’s privacy. If they don’t want us to see their weakness, we can’t force it. Alright, Bring Me Some Water. I want to wash my face and hands. “I fell down just now …” PEI GE pleaded.

Wen Xin quickly snapped back to her senses and interrupted her,””Aiya, sister Pei Pei, look at me, it’s all my fault for being reckless and gossipy. Alright, have a seat and wait for me. I’ll get you some water immediately. ”
