“Bad person?” Grandpa Ge’s expression turned stern and he quickly stood up from his chair. He walked out of the guard house with a police baton.

Seeing Grandpa Ge walk out of the booth with a weapon and a big wolf dog in tow, Pei Ge hesitated. Maybe, I shouldn’t have said that?

This neighborhood’s guard dog was quite good at catching trespassers and had bitten countless thieves already. If that annoying person were to get bitten….

“Ge Ge, go in first. It’s already very late; your mother must be worried,” Grandpa Ge kindly said when he saw her dazedly stand there and stare intently at the watchdog.

“Ah? Oh, yes!” Pei Ge nodded and, after considering it for a while, added, “Grandpa, actually this bad person may not be totally bad, so don’t be rash. This dog can be kept back in the house.”

Actually, that annoying person… didn’t do anything bad. If he gets bitten, I won’t be able to live with the guilt.

Grandpa Ge was confused by her words.

The bad person is not a bad person?

However, Grandpa Ge, who had lived long enough, quickly figured out what was going on.

Under the bright lights, a man walked with steady steps toward the neighborhood’s entrance.

When he walked out of the darkness and into the lights of the neighborhood’s entrance, his face seemed to glow and to look especially attractive.

Shiny black leather shoes, form-fitting suit, and an impeccable face… Grandpa Ge did not think that this was the bad person Pei Ge was talking about.

Wang, wang, wang! Whereas a human being could judge a person’s physical appearance, a dog could not. As such, the wolf dog by Grandpa Ge’s feet began to bark loudly at the scent of a stranger.

The dog’s barking jolted Grandpa Ge out of his musing.

“Young man, are you looking for that girl earlier?” Grandpa Ge could tell that this handsome, young man that carried himself well was no ordinary person.

Ji Ziming relaxed once he saw Pei Ge safely enter the neighborhood and merely nodded at the elderly man’s questioning.

This confirmed Grandpa Ge’s assumption.

“Did you two quarrel?” Grandpa Ge smiled kindly at him.

Since the person asking was an elderly man, he politely nodded his head.

“Hai! Young man, this girlfriend needs to be coaxed. You’d better apologize to Ge Ge and admit your mistakes. Don’t worry; you’ll easily be forgiven since she’s a reasonable lady,” Grandpa Ge kindly advised as he regarded Ji Ziming with wise eyes.

Girl – Girlfriend?

Listening to Grandpa Ge’s words, Ji Ziming forgot how to speak for a moment.

“However, it’s already this late at night and Ge Ge said not to let you in. Young man, go home first and text or call her to apologize while on your way,” Grandpa Ge happily continued to give him advice.

“…” Ji Ziming coldly glanced at Grandpa Ge, who was smiling broadly.

While the grinning Grandpa Ge regrettably did not notice his gaze, the elderly man’s watchdog did.

“Wuuuu…” The watchdog whimpered, tucked its tail between its legs, and hid behind Grandpa Ge when it perceived the coldness Ji Ziming was emitting.

Pei Ge, you are really something!

Compared to Ji Ziming who was braving the cold wind outside, Pei Ge was in relative comfort.

She whistled a tune once she got back home.

Changing into her in-door slippers, she was about to shower and go to sleep when she saw her mother watching TV in the living room.

“Mom, why are you still up this late? Didn’t I tell you not to wait for me and sleep early?” she asked softly.

Zhang Manhua waved her over quickly when she saw that her daughter had returned and asked, “You child, how can I sleep with you out there? Sit here and tell me how the blind date went.”

Without a choice, Pei Ge sat beside Zhang Manhua and replied, “Good, I guess.”

“So it’s a success?” Zhang Manhua asked excitedly.

“I don’t know, but when Dr. Chen left, he asked for my number,” she answered with some uncertainty.

“Silly lass! It’s obviously a success!” Zhang Manhua positively beamed when she heard that her daughter’s blind date had asked for Pei Ge’s number and continued to question, “That Xiao Chen, how does he look like? How is his personality? More importantly, what do you think of him?”

Pei Ge smiled at her mother’s probing and replied seriously, “Dr. Chen looks energetic and has a stable personality. As for the feeling he gives me….”

“Eh?” Zhang Manhua curiously looked at her daughter. Actually, her daughter providing her with a lot of information was already a good sign. It meant that her daughter was rather satisfied with today’s date.

“I think he’s alright. He seems like a family man,” Pei Ge smilingly said. However, inexplicably, the one that appeared in her mind was actually Ji Ziming’s handsome face.

Pu, pu, pu! Why am I thinking of that man?! That annoying person is so annoying! Besides his face, there’s really nothing worth praising about him! How can he compare with Dr. Chen?!

“That’s good! That’s good! You must strive to get along with Dr. Chen. From what you said, I also think that he is a fine man.” Zhang Manhua’s face softened and the joy was evident in her eyes.

“You are not getting any younger. Settle down soon, so that my heart can finally rest. This way, when I meet your father, I will have the face to talk to him,” Zhang Manhua said this with a gentle smile.

“Mom, what are you talking about?! Dad wouldn’t let me marry this early!” Pei Ge broke into a smile at the mention of her father and began to act cutesy with her mother.

“You were really spoiled by your father.” Zhang Manhua laughed as she dotingly tapped her daughter’s head.

“Who says? I am clearly being spoiled by you as well!” Pei Ge giggled and hugged her mother.

“This child; you are already this big, yet you are still acting cutesy with me. Go on now. Take a bath and rest.” Although Zhang Manhua’s face showed dislike, her voice was full of love and happiness, clearly loving that her daughter was so close to her.

“Going, going.”

While the mother and daughter chatted happily at home, a certain CEO, meanwhile, had a sullen look on his handsome face.

He looked at the spot where he had parked his car. It was empty now. Not mentioning the car, even the tires were missing.

It was evident that the car of this certain CEO had been stolen.

“… Damn it!”
