Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is a Affectionate Spitfire Chapter 1240 – That friendly uncle looks familiar!

Chapter 1240: That friendly uncle looks familiar!

Leaving the lodge with a pensive look, Pei Ge got in Egger’s car.

Listless as a frostbitten tomato, she stared at the scenery outside the window.

“Mommy, are you alright? You look… sad.”

Seeing her like this, the kids sitting next to her became worried.

She gathered her wits and lowered her head upon hearing her children’s worried query.

“Mommy isn’t. I’m just thinking about something…”

She gently patted the kids on their heads.

“But you look truly upset!” mumbled her daughter, looking naïve.

“I’m really not!”

She grinned at her baby girl. After reassuring them, she looked up at the man in the passenger seat.

“What are you trying to do? Why did you bring my kids here without my permission?”

The man looked at her calmly.

“Don’t be angry; I’m just unable to do anything about these two pestering me, so I brought them with me.”

The two children defended him.

“Don’t blame godfather, mommy! Brother and I really wanted to come.”

“Yes! Sister and I wanted to come ourselves.”

She could not flare up after hearing them defend the man and just pursed her lips to swallow her complaint.

These two still did not know that their biological father was Ji Ziming, and she did not intend to tell them so to prevent unnecessary trouble.

“I know that you’re still mad at me, but I truly didn’t expect a situation like that earlier to happen.”

Egger sighed helplessly and looked at her with gentle eyes when he saw her refusing to speak to him.

Her brows knitted together tightly the moment he said that.

“From then up to now, I just want to ask why you were there and how you knew that I was in his private villa.”

She cast the man doubtful eyes; the other day, she was even thinking if that imposter of hers had anything to do with him.

Today, this man happened to arrive timely.

She had all the reasons to doubt this man.

“I…”

Seeing her doubtful eyes, he felt disappointed.

Although he did indeed plant someone to be by her side, he was upset to see her doubting him like this.

“I’m worried about you, so I arranged for someone to keep an eye out for you.”

Her expression sank the very instant he admitted that.

Her eyes reddened in fury as she glared at him.

“How could you do that?! You went too far!”

“I was just worried about you. You know how ruthless your uncle’s family is. I’m afraid that they’ll hurt you, so…” He got anxious when he saw that she was truly angry and quickly explained himself to him. “I was just worried, and afraid, that… that you’d be hurt by them just like how they did to your parents…”

Pei Ge did not know if she should be touched or mad when she saw the genuine look on his face.

That was because this man truly cared about her, yet… his method was not to her liking.

“Forget it… I don’t want to say more. The next time you are arranging someone to be by my side, please tell me first.”

Suppressing all her anger, she suddenly felt weary.

“Rest assured that there won’t be a repeat of this.”

Soon, the car arrived at her apartment.

Holding the children in each hand, she alighted from Egger’s car.

She bid him goodbye and led her kids up the stairs.

The trio ventured into the apartment once the door was unlocked.

“Mommy, your place is so tiny!”

Her children curiously roamed their eyes around this place she was living and ran about with their short legs.

“Mhm. What do you want to eat later? Mommy will cook for you.”

She could not help but smile when she saw her children looking so spirited.

Despite feeling very unhappy when her two children had appeared in front of the Ji family, she was delighted to be with them finally.

After all, she truly missed her children.

“Mommy, who was that good-looking uncle earlier?”

The adorable little girl asked, instead, as her watery eyes blinked with curiosity.

“What uncle?”

Her daughter’s question baffled her.

“That good-looking uncle who looked as if he was gonna cry!”

The girl grinned at her before sticking out her tongue.

“…”

That’s… clearly referring to Ji Ziming, right?

She felt uneasy.

“I find that uncle really familiar! Anyway, it feels as if I’ve seen him somewhere before, and he looks friendly, too!”

The young one expressed thought and then her tender lips.

“My memory is good, but I can’t recall where I’ve met him!”

As she said that, the little girl turned around and looked at her sibling.

“Brother, you find that uncle familiar, too, right?”
