Provocative Fiery Wife: My Superior is a Affectionate Spitfire Chapter 1113 – You have just gotten engaged!

Chapter 1113: You have just gotten engaged!

-An apartment in New York-

“Boss, there’s nothing suspicious on Gu Zhengrong’s side. Should we head back?”

Du Wen asked the cold and stoic man next to him.

Who knew how long they had been in New York?

Their business project here had long been completed, yet the CEO still refused to leave, and his reason for staying was simple.

Everyone knew that Ji Ziming was staying for a woman.

The secretary did not elicit any response from the man, alas.

The man did not even look at him as he stared coldly outside the window at the bustling street below.

“Boss, sir and madam have been asking for you to return.”

He could only continue speaking when his superior did not respond.

Of course, the sir and madam that he was talking about was naturally his boss’s parents.

“Besides, boss, do you know? Sir has found you a fiancée back home…”

Taking a deep breath, he spoke of the news he had just seen on TV.

He only knew that the CEO had gotten engaged after he saw it on TV.

Honestly, he was stunned to see that.

He only realized that it was a tactic to force Ji Ziming to return home the moment his father’s people called.

Otherwise, a small matter like his superior getting engaged to a stranger would never make the news!

As expected, his boss turned to Du Wen immediately after he spoke.

“Fiancée…”

Even though the tone of his voice was rather bland, the secretary could discern immense anger from it.

“Y-Yes. Sir and madam seem to be getting along rather well with the Qu family these days…”

His words were cut off by a cold glare from the man.

He stopped speaking immediately, not daring to utter another word.

“In the future, I don’t want to hear the word ‘fiancée’!”

His fiancée could only be Pei Ge—no, his wife!

“Yes, boss!”

The glare from his superior made the assistant feel as if his soul were about to leave his body.

Since his superior’s fiancée ‘had run away’, the CEO’s temper had only been getting worse.

“Then, should we take a trip back home? After all, the news being passed along back home says that you and Miss Qu will be getting married soon…”

Immediately after he proposed this, a light flashed across his boss’s eyes. The man narrowed his eyes, his expression cold.

“It appears that it’s time for me to take a trip back home.” Ji Ziming spoke after a long while.

“T-Then, I’ll go get the plane tickets ready at once!”

The secretary’s spirits were lifted when he heard his boss’s decision to return home.

He had long been sick and tired of New York. Everyone said that being abroad was the best, but he liked China the best.

Here, he terribly missed Chinese food!

He was tired of eating Western cuisine all the time!

“Hang on. You must still have people watch Gu Zhengrong here.”

The man reminded him coldly when he saw how excited the latter was.

“Okay, boss; don’t worry.”

The assistant did not know what to do with the man’s orders.

Even though the Ji was a powerful family back home, their influence did not extend much overseas.

While they were better than most people and did rather well overseas, Gu Zhengrong was no ordinary man.

There was someone backing him up.

That guy must be aware that they were watching him—not that they were doing it discreetly.

Therefore, they were unable to find anything.

The bright and intelligent CEO would have caught the oddities in it usually, but because Pei Ge was involved in this…

The man fell into the trap.

…

Just as Du Wen expected, despite their constant surveillance on Gu Zhengrong, Tang Xiaoyu was still picked up by Egger right under their noses.

When the woman arrived in a car at the hospital in Cambridge, she was stunned.

It was not only because she heard that one of the triplets had died but also because Pei Ge was… in a terrible state.

Looking at the disheveled woman lying in bed, she did not link her with her best friend right away.

“Ge Ge!” She called out before walking over to her side quickly.

She took in the deep frown and sadness on her friend’s face even in her sleep and her heart hurt.

“…What actually happened?”

Raising her head, she glared at the man standing at the side.

“I handed her to you, and this was how you took care of her?”

She glared at him fiercely as if regarding an enemy.

“Sorry…” Although Pei Ge’s present condition had nothing to do with him, Egger still apologized to her. “I failed to take good care of her.”

His apology, without any attempt of defending himself, left her at a loss for words.

She wanted to lash out on him, but knowing that no one was at fault regarding that child’s death, she could only sigh.

“It’s fine. This matter… wasn’t your fault.”

She placed her palm between her sleeping friend’s brows and gently massaged the frown found there.

“What did the doctor say?”

“The doctor said that she’s in very bad shape. Her body wasn’t great to begin with, and now, there’s a possibility of her suffering from postpartum depression because of her child’s death…”
