Huo Siqian’s subordinate hung up the phone and replied carefully, “Boss, they said one to two hours.”

“There wouldn’t be any side effects, right?” Huo Siqian asked warily.

“No, they mentioned that Miss Huo would simply be taking a nap like normal.”

“Good.” Huo Siqian’s lip curved up, revealing the usual hidden smile.

“Good,” Huo Siqian said nonchalantly; he couldn’t care less about the livelihood of that pawn. He had no sympathy for her, despite her sudden change of heart and insistence on helping him one last time.

“Yanyan?” Shen Mingxi called out her name.

Seeing that there was no response, the nurse’s warning flew right out of his head; he kicked the door open and was greeted with a startling scene.

A man with a black mask and baseball hat was choking Huo Yanyan’s neck with a rope. Her mouth was wide open, but no sound came out. Her eyes rolled back, revealing all the whites of her eyes as she struggled for air.

“Mommy!!!” Tiantian screamed and began crying.

“Stop!” Shen Mingxi bolted forward. Seeing the situation, the man immediately turned and jumped out of the window. Seeing his build and physique, he looked like a professional hitman.

Huo Yanyan fell to the floor after the man had let go of her.

“Yanyan!” Shen Mingxi lifted Huo Yanyan, his face completely pale.

“Mommy… don’t die!” Tiantian knelt beside Huo Yanyan and cried.
