Jing Yichen wanted to keep teaching his son how to say mom and dad, but the nanny drove him out of the nursery to the living room.

The nanny felt that she was becoming the best-paid nanny in the entire A City with the easiest job that offered the longest holiday time.

Jing Yichen had taken over almost all of the nanny’s work and she was left with nothing to do. She felt kind of guilty to be paid thousands of yuan a month without actually doing anything.

She had proposed getting a cut in the salary, but Shangguan Ning did not approve of that. She still gave her the salary based on the original standard.

The couple regarded their son as the apple of their eyes. Shangguan Ning took great care of Jing Rui and Jing Yichen also looked after him well. He got up more often than Shangguan Ning during the night to check if Jing Rui had gotten hungry or if he needed a diaper change.

The nanny was an honest and discreet woman who had been very careful in taking care of Jing Rui. She had been to many noble families to take care of little masters and ladies. But none of the parents were as careful as Jing Yichen.

The nanny thought that Jing Yichen was a very responsible man. He might look cold and silent and scared people off but he was extremely nice towards his wife and son!

Jing Yichen had no idea what the nanny thought of him. He had only spent half an hour getting his son to sleep and that was making him feel proud.

He kissed his son’s cheeks and tiptoed out of the baby’s room. He asked the nanny to guard Jing Rui before returning to the bedroom himself.

Shangguan Ning was rubbing her wet hair. She had not washed her hair for days. After gaining some strength post eating, she had gone to take a quick shower. But she didn’t have any courage to look at herself in the mirror.

Jing Yichen took the towel from her hand and said calmly, “Let me.”

Shangguan Ning gave it to him without any protest, considering that she didn’t have much strength left.

Jing Yichen wiped her hair for a few minutes and when it stopped dripping, he picked up the dryer, and went to work on drying her hair proficiently.

After that, he combed the long hair before picking her up and carrying her to the bed.

“Just lie down. He is asleep. The nanny is with him. You can choose to talk or sleep with me. 100 yuan/minute for talking, ten times more for sleeping, alright?”

Shangguan Ning chuckled at the sight of his serious face and said without hesitation, “I have a lot of money. Come, sleep with me!”

Jing Yichen laughed at her words. He laid down next to Shangguan Ning, scooped her into his arms and tucked her forehead under his chin before saying, “It is so nice to hold you in my arms.”

Shangguan Ning understood that fear still lingered inside him after what happened a couple of days ago. He was not worrying about himself but about her, who might have suffered because of Tang Shunian.

She answered softly, “It is so nice to be in your arms.”

She moved her hand over his back and felt one of the unhealed wounds there.

She pulled up Jing Yichen’s shirt and saw his wound. She let out a sigh of relief when she saw it healing well. Then she reached out for his pants so as to check the wounds on his thighs.

Jing Yichen took hold of her cool hands and said in a threatening tone, “Are you sure about this? You must be responsible for me after you remove my pants. If you are desiring for me physically, I, as your husband, can make that sacrifice for you.”

Shangguan Ning felt helpless. She was just trying to check on his wounds. What did he mean by twisting her actions as if she was thirsting for him.

She had no intention to do that at all!

She had no strength to do that with him right now!

Shangguan Ning had to give up checking his thighs up and glared at him. “This is slander!”

Jing Yichen laughed and said softly, “Alright, it’s not you, it is me, okay? I am really thirsty for that.”

Shangguan Ning pinched hard on his waist and only stopped after hearing his crying of pain.

Jing Yichen pretended to be wronged and that amused Shangguan Ning. But she was still worried about his wound. The wound on his thigh had been very deep, all the way to the bone. It was impossible to have been cured within a couple of days.

“You better go to the hospital for treatment. What are you doing at home? We have no doctor here. You might suffer more if there is any infection.”

“I am not that weak. It is just a small wound that has already started to heal.” Jing Yichen did not care about the wounds. His recovery rate was fast. Four days had passed since that incident happened and his injuries were healing well.

“It is not a good idea to stay at the hospital all the time. Home is the best and is more convenient for us. Mu Qing comes to check on us every day, anyway. There is not much difference between staying at home or at the hospital.”

Shangguan Ning knew that Jing Yichen had come home for her sake, because she needed to only rest rather than go through any treatment. She would recover better at home.

But Shangguan Ning was not happy making Mu Qing visit them so often.

It seemed as if Mu Qing became a doctor truly for Jing Yichen. He needed to be available for them all the time, and was at their service, be it at night or under bad weather. He held no grudge and worked diligently for them.

Shangguan Ning was not glad to see him being bullied by Jing Yichen every day.
