Jing Yichen’s low laughter reached Shangguan Ning, who was standing outside the kitchen. It made her want to be swallowed by the ground, out of shame. It was not until she ran out of the kitchen did she realize that Jing Yichen was just teasing her. He had no intention of stripping!

Too bad that she was so inexperienced with men. Otherwise she would not have made a fool of herself.

She flung his white suit onto the sofa in annoyance, picked up the tea from the table, that had gone cold and gulped it down. Finally she felt that the heat on her face had subsided.

Delectable smells were emanating from the kitchen. The fragrance and flavor were so tempting that Shangguan Ning couldn’t help but drool.

Could he really cook?

Her confusion didn’t last long. Half an hour later, Jing Yichen carried the dishes to the living room.

“Limited ingredients. Just put up with it.”

Jing Yichen had cooked three dishes and a bowl of soup – wok of shrimps and scallions, broccoli wok, braised eggplant and mushroom soup.

They had been in a hurry at the supermarket today, so Shangguan Ning had casually snatched up everything except the fresh shrimps which were carefully selected by Jing Yichen.

And she didn’t have any meat in the fridge except for some frozen dumplings and glutinous rice balls.

So he was right about “limited ingredients”.

Shangguan Ning’s eyes brimmed with tears, seeing the food. It had been years since she ate these kind of homemade dishes. She couldn’t cook and no one cooked for her.

She forced back her tears and with a lovely smile, said “I will eat up all of it. It doesn’t matter whether the food is delicious or not!”

A feeling of satisfaction flowed in his heart at the sight of happiness on her pure face.

He had learnt to cook only because he didn’t like the dishes cooked by others. And now, he had something else to look forward to.

He was not able to control his feelings any more. He massaged the top of her head with his large hands and said gently. “Just eat until you are full. It is okay to waste.”

“I would cook for you again in the future if you want.”

Shangguan Ning’s hand that held the chopsticks froze. She felt an indescribable feeling in her heart.

She had always thought that hair had no sensation. Why then, did she get the feeling of an electrical shock when he touched her hair?

Had she been so hungry that she became silly?

She grinned, picked up a shrimp and stuffed it into her mouth, disguising her emotions.

As she was drinking the delicious mushroom soup, she surveyed Jing Yichen with a weird look. He was removing the apron and sitting himself down at that moment.

He was totally unreasonable! Wealthy, good-looking, charismatic, intelligent and good at cooking!

Most importantly, a man like this was still unmarried! No, no, still single. That was almost impossible !

Shangguan Ning’s mouth moved but her brain was churning. She was suddenly reminded of what Zhao Anan said before, about her brother – he lived clean and never approached women.

That sounded like a compliment but also, it explicitly indicated that there was something wrong with this man.

Could it be that… Jing Yichen had problem with that thing?

Or, did he like men?

She stared at the man who was seated opposite her and was eating elegantly, looking handsome as usual. She couldn’t help but sigh in her heart. He really had the ability to conquer both men and women.

A feeling of happiness and satisfaction filled his heart when Jing Yichen saw Shangguan Ning savouring the food cooked by him.

But the way she looked at him was somehow weird.

He subconsciously wiped his lip’s corner, but there was no rice there!

As high as Jing Yichen’s IQ and EQ was, he was still unable to read people’s mind. What he was not able to realize at this moment was that just by cooking a meal, he had been categorised as impotent in her list. A genius like him would never be able to understand this illogical way of thinking.

The sunshine in the afternoon shone into the living room through the large ceiling-to-floor window. It was warm, nice, and quiet just like home.

Seeing the busy and slender figure in the kitchen, Jing Yichen suddenly felt that if he could spend the rest of his life in this way, it would be amazing. He was a man with a strong self-control. He didn’t indulge himself although he really enjoyed the beautiful hours that the two of them spent together.

Shangguan Ning was unable to run away now. They would have much more time to spend together in the future.

He had invested a great deal of time coming here today.

There were still many things left for him to handle at work, and he ought to leave now.

Business was a man’s strongest power. Only by being powerful enough would he be able to give her a stable and happy life. Love and marriage were two separate concepts. What he wanted was always more than love.

He had been pretty sure of that.

Therefore, when Shangguan Ning finished washing the dishes and came out of the kitchen, there was no one in the living room any more.

The tea was still steaming hot, and his warmth still remained in the room. Shangguan Ning took a look at the scene and her heart let out a sigh.

The two of them had parted, and gone back to whatever they were busy with.

But what Shangguan Ning would never know was that the man who just left, had stirred up the entire legal and illegal corners of A City for her sake.

It was a cold evening, and a sense of foreboding permeated the air.

Black Knife, who was an overweeningly arrogant leader, admired by the gangs, was kicked to the ground at this moment, losing all his dignity.

He dialed the number with a shivering hand and spoke the second the call went through. “Master Jing, please tell them to stop! I didn’t release Black Wind, and I haven’t hidden him either. I don’t know where he is, and if we get to know, we will get him here without your asking us!”
