The sudden apology from Zuo An caused Xu Weilai to raise her eyebrows. With her arms crossed, she turned and looked at Zuo An. “Why are you suddenly apologizing to me?” She asked, even though she knew the answer.

Zuo An took a step forward. He lowered his head, then looked up again at Xu Weilai. He knew she was clear of everything that was going on, but he would still give her a serious explanation, “The Butler is my father’s confidant. He represents my father. My father will hear of everything that happened today. That was why I said you’re my girlfriend when he asked. That was to let my father understand my stand in this matter. For a person who immediately maintained his distance after he uncontrollably hugged her, she was certain he would never cross the line to do something that would upset her.

She understood the meaning behind his words, although he said it indirectly.

What he wanted to say was he did not want to be a gentleman.

She smiled and changed the topic. “Aren’t you tired? You should rest for a while. I’ll take a nap too.”

She sat on the bed and leaned towards the head of the bed as she spoke, then closed her eyes.
