Just as Bai Jinyu took hold of his arm, Fu Huai’an shook him off and punched Wang Quan again, making him completely pass out—his limbs spread across the floor. There seemed to be no life left in them as Fu Huai’an lifted them up as he wished.

In the darkness, Fu Huai’an’s facial features looked defined and cold. His lips were tightly sealed as they locked eyes with each other, his unfathomable, dark eyes radiating a solemness. He unhurriedly put out his cigarette. HIs figure appeared tall and solemn.

Bai Jinyu took a look at Wang Quan who had passed out. Afraid the matter would get serious he immediately called Lu Jinnan to get some help.

Lin Nuan stood under the shower and closed her eyes. All she could see was the way Fu Huai’an grabbed Wang Quan by the collar and punched him recklessly. Her heart was pounding as she hugged herself.

She had heard too many stories of the hero rescuing the damsel in distress. She once couldn’t understand why once the hero saved the princess, she’d always say something along the lines of: “Your heroic act is too generous, all I could do is offer myself to you.”

Now that she experienced it herself, she understood that it was partly because of admiration; but on the other hand, it was because the emotional side of her made her feel certain things.

She heard knocking on the door.

She walked towards the glass door and vaguely saw a tall, slender figure. She turned off the hot water valve and listened intently.

“Take these clothes…”

Fu Huai’an’s deep voice traveled across the door. She immediately grabbed the towel and wrapped it around her as she walked barefoot to the door. She bit on her lip and grasped the handle, opening the door slightly.

She hid behind the door, and before she could peek outside, his hand passed a clean set of clothes inside. It was a clean pink loose t-shirt with a v-collar, a pair of disposable underpants, and jeans.

He was standing with his face looking elsewhere, showing no intention of looking inside. Lin Nuan’s movements, however, showed her guarded mentality.

She took the clothes from behind the door and closed it after Fu Huai’an drew back his hand.

After she finished showering and changed back into her clothes, Lin Nuan dried her hair and walked out of the washroom half wet.

Fu Huai’an was standing against the window, his left hand holding an ashtray as he smoked. Hearing the door open, his deep gaze looked towards Lin Nuan. She could barely see his sharply defined features through the smoke.

Fu Huai’an made her even more uneasy when he didn’t talk.

Noticing the blood stains on his fist, she said, “You still have some blood on your hand…”

Fu Huai’an bit on the cigarette and raised his hand up, looking at it indifferently. He had hit Wang Quan’s teeth when he punched him before, and his hand got slightly injured. He didn’t notice it and thought it was Wang Quan’s blood, so he washed it off. It was only then that he noticed, thanks to Lin Nuan.

Fu Huai’an moved the cigarette from the corner of his mouth into the ashtray. He said with furrowed eyebrows, “I’ll let Xiao Lu send you back home.”
