MMO: Pierce Heaven Til’ It Breaks 786 Babarossa’s Wrath

Ranged attacks, melee attacks, retreat, resist the suction force…

This was the last segment in defeating Babarossa, and it was also the hardest segment. The techniques required were simple, and the strategy was obvious, but things kept going wrong when it came to the actual execution.

Over the next three consecutive turns, six melee fighters died to the Sunsword. Not a single one made it back to camp alive.

Then, it was Li Yi’s turn to make his move.

When ranged fighters attacked Babarossa within 5 yards of it, the system would recognize it as a melee attack. Li Yi activated God Mode and rapidly approached Babarossa, attacking it once and then immediately retreating.

There was an explosion of Phoenix Flames, and a red damage figure of [−1565451] appeared above Babarossa’s head.

“Boom!”

A pillar of flames descended from the sky at the same time, crashing down on Babarossa’s head. It was Qian’er, attacking immediately after Li Yi did.

Although Qian’er did not have as many Holy Points as Li Yi had, her class’ characteristics made up for the difference. Given that their equipment was equal, the destructive power of Fire Wizards was among the best of all the classes in King of Pantheon.

Li Yi retreated by flying back, and Qian’er used Flash to escape from Babarossa’s grasp as well.

Landing their attacks meant that both Li Yi and Qian’er were granted a new debuff, Babarossa’s Wrath. Tapping the buff emblem would reveal a short explanation: [Babarossa is furious at you for your cowardly ambush. From now on, you will be his primary target until his anger at you subsides.]

Regardless of who it was, anyone who successfully hit Babarossa now would obtain this additional debuff, Babarossa’s Wrath. When that happened, the debuffed player must stop attacking and never approach Babarossa again, or else Babarossa would ignore the gap between skills and attack the target of its aggro first and foremost.

Other players had to take their place in the attack formation until the debuff on the previous players vanished. Only then could they participate in the attack again.

Now that they were under the influence of Babarossa’s Wrath, Li Yi and Qian’er could not attack it anymore. They had no choice but to sit back and watch as their party members took their turns.

The next time, it was Unending Unmatched and Sexy Red Undies who went forth, successfully dealing damage to Babarossa. Compared to Li Yi and Qian’er, however, their debuffs were slightly darker in color.

As their party members took turns attacking, the color of their debuffs would gradually fade and finally disappear altogether, removing their attack restrictions.

Another round of attacking began, and two Thieves moved at the same time. However, both of them fell at Babarossa’s feet…

The attack had failed!

“Get a taste of the Shield of Kannon’s Wrath!”

Babarossa roared and raised its shield high above its head. The air inside the green light barrier began to swirl with the shield.

“Whoosh whoosh—”

The entire party began to lose HP like crazy, be it the main tanks or the healers. In the end, everyone’s max HP was reduced to 50% of their initial value.

Failing once meant losing half their health, so failing twice meant certain death!

“Don’t panic, keep calm and continue!” Li Yi roared at just the right time!

They had lost half of their damage dealers, so the healers and main tanks could no longer just stand idly by. They had no choice but to take turns attacking too, if only to remove their main attackers’ debuffs.

Although their base HP had been reduced by half, the other members of the party did not panic. They continued to attack with one ranged and two melee fighters each time, chipping away at Babarossa’s health.

After the party successfully damaged Babarossa five times, Li Yi’s and Qian’er’s debuffs vanished at the same time. Now they could attack Babarossa again.

As Li Yi was getting ready, he yelled at Little Elf from the Magical Realm, “Little Elf, has your Battle Resurrect cooled down?”

“Yep, it is!”

“Okay, pull me back later!”

The ranged attack segment began, and both Li Yi and Qian’er dashed forth at the same time.

“Shooting Star Arrow Hail!”

Li Yi ran up to Babarossa and immediately unleashed his most powerful attack.

“Smack-smack-smack-smack-smack-smack…”

The Shooting Star Arrows pelted down like rain, hitting Babarossa squarely. While he used Shooting Star Arrow Hail, Li Yi could not move, nor could he adjust the direction of his arrows. He could only stand there, locked in the same pose, until all the arrows had rained down.

Qian’er used an Explosive Flame and then used Flash to return to base, whereas Li Yi was still frozen there in the midst of casting his Shooting Star Arrow Hail.

Babarossa waved his Sunsword lightly, and Li Yi’s health immediately hit zero. He was killed in an instant.

Just then, the next round of attacks began. Brother Windcloud Nine and Unending Unmatched worked together, rushing forth.

While Babarossa was in between skills, Little Elf from the Magical Realm revived Li Yi with Battle Resurrect.

There were fifty of them in the party, but Li Yi was still the only one who could truly deal immense damage to Babarossa.

One cast of Shooting Star Arrow Hail was enough for Li Yi to take deal fifty million damage to Babarossa, more than what the others could do in a dozen turns.

If they did not have Li Yi, there was no way this party could possibly clear this dungeon. It was beyond their current capabilities anyway.

Now, they only had one last chance at this. If they failed even one more time when attacking Li Yi and the others would have no choice but to start over.

Li Yi’s debuff had vanished when he was resurrected, so now he could attack Babarossa again.

“Whoosh whoosh—”

Babarossa swung the Sunsword twice, and Brother Windcloud Nine fell, but Unending Unmatched used Thunder Barrage and immediately retreated. Thanks to him, the party avoided getting wiped out again.

As long as one person landed a hit, Babarossa would not use his Shield of Kannon.

“Don’t say anything!”

Before Sister Windcloud Nine could open her mouth, Brother Windcloud Nine secretly PM’ed her.

“Okay, I won’t say anything.” Instead of using their private chat, the natural airhead replied on the group channel.

They were still taking turns on the attack, but perhaps Brother Windcloud Nine’s death had affected the team. The next two melee attackers to take the stage seemed to be out of sorts— they did manage to damage Babarossa, but they could not escape in time and died to its sword.

Now, the only DPS fighters left alive were Li Yi and Qian’er. Everyone else was dead.

Li Yi roared, “Just hang in there for another five minutes ad we’ll win! Healers and main tanks, stall it for us!”

If they ran out of melee fighters, he just had to use the ranged attackers. If they ran out of ranged attackers, the healers and main tanks would have to do their part too. No one could slip up when taking their turns, or else only total annihilation awaited them.

Little Elf from the Magical Realm pressed forth with her Air Dance Technique and Li Yi coordinated with her, following closely behind her and using a True Overlord Arrow.

Li Yi and Little Elf from the Magical Realm both made it back safely, and they continued their assault in waves. Next up were Sister Windcloud Nine and Nirvana Inaction.

Li Yi did not want to let Sister Windcloud Nine take a turn either, but the situation left her with no choice. She simply had to do it.

Everyone else was marked with Babarossa’s Wrath, so who else was there to do it?

Sister Windcloud Nine was quite determined to do her part. She summoned her Tuhr Sword and rushed at Babarossa, throwing her arms wide open and trying to embrace it.

If this had happened in real life, it would be nothing short of a fearless display of sacrificial bravery. In the game, however, it just came off as a little naive.

Babarossa raised its hand and with a swing of its sword, Sister Windcloud Nine’s body was cleaved in half.

“Whoosh!”

Just then, the Tuhr Sacred Sword emitted three Blade Aura shots, dealing more than a million in damage to Babarossa.

Although Sister Windcloud Nine had died, she still accomplished her mission.

On the other hand, Nirvana Inaction could not complete his task. As soon as he reached Babarossa’s side, he actually used a powerful technique with a long channeling bar, but before he could even finish loading the channeling bar, Babarossa killed him just like that.

“Idiot, moron, retard!”

“You just had to smack it with your staff, why the heck did you use a channeling bar skill? Where’d your brain cells go?!”

“How much damage did you think you could deal with that channeling bar skill? All you had to do was smack it and buy time for our main cannons. I’m gonna faint, Nirv, you… you render me speechless.”

Brother Windcloud Nine and Sister Windcloud Nine had both died, but no one in the party would ever tell them off. Even if they did make a stupid mistake, no one would ever say a word against them.

However, that did not apply to the others. For example, the God Creator Guild’s super healer Nirvana Inaction made just one silly mistake, and everyone else immediately roasted him to ashes.

Another small fireball went flying, but this time, Li Yi was the only living member who did not have Babarossa’s Wrath on him. In other words, he had no choice but to take things into his own hands now.

He did not attack. Instead, he turned around and yelled at Qian’er, “Go and use your Territory!”

“Alright!”

Qian’er used Flash to appear before Babarossa, and she lifted her delicate hand slightly, her body rising into the sky slowly. Babarossa slashed her three times with its Sunsword, and Qian’er’s HP had hit zero a long time ago, but she… did not die!

“Territory — Divine Flames’ Descent!”

Qian’er called out softly and roaring flames engulfed the entire map…

Qian’er dealt a terrifying 35 million damage and then promptly died. In fact, Babarossa had already killed Qian’er as she was casting Divine Flames’ Descent, but that was the terrifying part about her Territory. Even if its caster was dead, the spell would be unleashed anyway.

This was a supremely powerful skill unique only to Fire Wizards. The other classes were nowhere near capable of this.

Qian’er successfully dealt Babarossa a devastating blow. Although she had died too, she had completed the task Li Yi gave her commendably.

By then, Babarossa only had about a hundred and fifty million HP left. Li Yi frowned and shouted, “Does anyone else have a powerful Territory?”

No one replied.

Jiaojiao had one, but she had died a long time ago.

Li Yi was the only DPS left, and including Li Yi, there were only five players left alive in the party.

“F*ck, and we can’t use the Holy Light Talismans either!” Brother Windcloud Nine swore from where he lay on the ground. He still had a huge stack of Holy Light Talismans on him, but unfortunately, they were utterly useless in this dungeon.

The next round of coordinated attacks began, but just as Li Yi was frowning and frustrated, a healer and a main tank rushed at Babarossa, regardless of the Babarossa’s Wrath debuff they still carried.

With that debuff still active, even if they could damage Babarossa, there was still no way they could make it back alive.

It was a suicide charge!
