After the warm bath was ready, Qin Yinan carried Song Qingchun into the bathroom.

Before Qin Yinan left, Song Qingchun scanned the crowd that had gathered in the room. She pulled Qin Yinan closer and whispered into his ear, “Brother Yinan, I’m fine. Can you please tell the people to go downstairs and continue the party? There’s no need to wait here.”

Qin Yinan nodded and added as a reminder, “Call me if you need anything, I’ll be in the other room.”

Qin Yinan left the bathroom after seeing Song Qingchun nod and closed the door behind him.

Song Qingchun felt her body warm up in the water, and she instantly felt better.

When she exited the bathroom, almost everyone who was there earlier had dispersed. The door was closed, and it was quiet. Qin Yinan was perched on the sofa alone.

When he heard the door to the bathroom open, he immediately stood up and asked with concern, “Feeling better?”

“Yes.” Song Qingchun nodded.

“Come take a seat and dry your hair,” Qin Yinan said as he plugged the hair-dryer into the socket.

Song Qingchun sat down on the plush sofa. She reached out for the dryer, but Qin Yinan ignored her and gently helped her dry her hair. After that, he carried her in his arms and placed her carefully on the bed. The soaked comforter from before had been replaced with a new one.

Qin Yinan pulled the comforter over Song Qingchun and grabbed the ginger tea before sitting beside her. He then fed her with a little spoon, spoonful by spoonful.

As the warm liquid travelled down her throat, Song Qingchun felt much better. However, the smell of the ginger was too pungent for Song Qingchun. She shook her head at the spoon that was heading toward her after finishing almost a third of the cup. “Brother Yinan, that’s enough.”

Qin Yinan nodded understandingly and placed the cup back on the bedside table. He moved to cover Song Qingchun’s feet, which were poking out from underneath the comforter, before asking, “Song Song, how did you fall into the water?”

Song Qingchun told Qin Yinan everything that had happened earlier, and as she relayed the story, his face became much darker. When she finished, he extended his hand to touch her hair and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, Song Song. This is all my fault for failing to protect you.”

“Don’t say that. Look at me, I’m fine now, aren’t I?” Song Qingchun smiled softly at Qin Yinan.

Qin Yinan did not feel any better from Song Qingchun’s words of consolation, if anything, it only made him feel worse. “I’ve already asked Zhang Zi to go call the police. Don’t worry, I will definitely find out who this person is, and he will have to face the judgement of the law!”

“Thank you, Brother Yinan,” Song Qingchun said softly before adding, as if remembering something, “By the way, Brother Yinan, how did you know I’d fallen into the water?”

“Someone called me,” Qin Yinan replied.

There were two people who knew about her ‘accident’; one was the one who had thrown her in, and the other was the one who had saved her. The former wouldn’t have called Qin Yinan, so by the process of elimination… Song Qingchun’s eyes glowed brightly, and she asked rather excitedly, “Brother Yinan, who called you? Where’s your phone? Let me have a look at it.”

Before Qin Yinan could hand her the phone, Song Qingchun reached out to grab it on her own. She clicked open the call history with much excitement, but in the end, it was a company number.

Song Qingchun was swamped by a wave of disappointment. She stared at the number for a long before raising her head to ask something.
