After filming all the scenes she had on the film, Lin Meirong rushed to leave the set to meet her doctor at the hospital back at the capital. She’d arrived in a disguise, making sure no one would be able to recognize her.

With news about Mu Jianyu and Li Xiuying’s divorce spreading everywhere the rumors about Mu Jianyu keeping another woman had also circulated. She wasn’t sure where it started but it had surely put her relationship with Mu Jianyu on a strain.

The man, her lover, had gone missing for days now and refused to pick up her calls late at night. Now that he was separated with Li Xiuying, why wasn’t he coming to her? She assumed that the rumors were holding him up somewhere.

Was he waiting for the news to die on its own before he checks on her? Lin Meirong wasn’t sure anymore.

If Mu Jianyu abandoned her right now then this child in her womb would be useless to her. She’d been contemplating whether she should abort the child before her bump started to show or wait for Mu Jianyu’s return.

‘The trouble of having you would be worthless if Jianyu doesn’t come back to me,’

This was why she was here, trying to seek the doctor’s opinion, to know if she could still abort this child or not. The fate of this child will be on Mu Jianyu’s hands. If he doesn’t come back soon, then this child will go away with him.

The doctor came back with the results on her hand. She gave Lin Meirong a good look before sitting across her.

“Miss Lin, are you sure you want to get an abortion?” She asked Lin Meirong.

“I-I haven’t decided yet, doctor but is it still possible?” She asked back.

“Of course but I thought you wanted to have this baby before. Did something happen?”

Lin Meirong shook her head and plastered a fake smile on her face.

“I just think I’m not ready yet, doctor that’s all.” She reasoned out. She can’t possibly tell the doctor what was going on in her mind right now.

Lin Meirong spent another hour talking with her doctor before leaving the office and sat on a bench outside as she pondered what to do next. She sat in silence as she digested what the doctor had told her earlier.

Should she abort this child or not? She couldn’t decide at all.

Director Yao had been threatening her to reveal her secrets to Mu Jianyu if she doesn’t cooperate. The last time she met that man, Director Yao asked for money which she begrudgingly complied.

However, Lin Meirong knew that if she continued to allow him to threaten her, more problems would arise later. He might even ask for more in the future, which would dry up her funds even before she could sink her claws on Mu Jianyu’s wealth.

Just thinking about it was enough to give her a headache. She needed to find a way to dispose of that man or else she would never be in peace!

But her lover had gone silent for almost a week now. What was she supposed to do now? She knew that as long as she had this child, Mu jianyu would have a hard time casting her aside. He might have done it to Li Xiuying but she wasn’t as dumb as that woman!

‘Tch, what a nuisance!’

She also still had a problem finding where her stupid husband and child went after she left the countryside. Two weeks ago, she hired a private investigator to seek out the location of her family in hope that she would be able to persuade her husband to annul his marriage with her, giving her back her freedom so she could marry Mu Jianyu.

Who would have thought that when the investigator arrived at her hometown, her stupid husband, as well as her child and sister-in-law, had gone missing.

A witness claimed that two men arrived at their village also looking for her husband. The next day, her whole family was seen leaving their village together with those outsiders from the previous day.

Lin Meirong bit her thumb as she thought who could have taken away her family. Was it the Li family? They are capable of abducting people with their influence but why would they come after her family when it was clear that Mu Jianyu was the one who offended them and not her?

This was starting to get out of her hand. She cannot take control of Mu Jianyu, couldn’t dispose of Yao Qigang, and couldn’t find her useless husband. Everything was going astray far from her plans! If this continues, she would lose everything!

More people came her way and Lin Merong started to feel uncomfortable on her seat. She should leave before anyone could recognize her. It would be bad if her name came into limelight in a bad way even before the nomination for the awards starts.

Lin Meirong decided to take the stairs since it would be less crowded than using the elevator, sharing it with other people. She managed to avoid the other patients and visitors and went down the stairs only to meet the person she didn’t want to see at all.

Li Xiuying. What was she doing here?

“Lady Li,” Lin Meirong slightly nodded her head to greet Mu Jianyu’s ex-wife.

Li Xiuying stared back at him with a poker face, not giving Lin Meirong a chance to know what she was thinking.

“Miss Lin, what a coincidence.”
