It was already past midnight when Li Chuntao and Su Ling came back to the penthouse. The two were greeted by the two cats who purred on Li Chuntao’s leg as soon as they saw her.

Meanwhile, Shen Zichen was sitting on the couch, a pair of eyeglasses on his face while he slumped lazily, reading the medical books Li Chuntao had brought home recently.

Su Ling wasn’t surprised to see the Young Master Shen here. If he didn’t know, he would assume that his Miss Chuntao and Shen Zichen were already cohabiting together.

Shen Zichen had been spending more time here than his own place and would always come here straight from his work.

Seeing that he wasn’t needed there, Su Ling left the two to give them some privacy. The penthouse alone was too large for the three of them, so it was almost impossible to run into these two unless he needed to see them.

“I thought you’re going to have overtime tonight?” Li Chuntao asked as she took a seat next to him, letting the two cats wander around, not kittens anymore, as Li Chuntao thought they grew overnight without her noticing it.

“The surgery scheduled was moved to Friday. There are tests needed to be done before we could push the surgery to the patient.” Shen Zichen closed the book on his hand, sat up, and placed it on the coffee table in front of them before regarding Li Chuntao.

“You’re late though. Something came up?” He asked.

Li Chuntao nodded and rested her head against his arm.

“Yeah, a kid got injured while they were cleaning the garden. I had to stitch him up myself because Doctor Qin couldn’t,” she sighed and rubbed her eyes. She was tired and was ready to retire for the night but the heavy rain outside took too long to stop forSu Ling to drive safely.

“Well, good for him. But he can’t possibly expect you to help him every time,” he commented, a deep frown etched on his face.

“Don’t be silly, Zichen. I’ll help if it’s needed. You can’t ignore a patient when you know they need help.” Li Chuntao groaned and closed her eyes.

Although Shen Zichen didn’t like her being friendly with another man, he supposed Chuntao being with Qin Linfeng was better than her being with Mu Jianyu. Just the thought of that man was enough to irritate him. It also didn’t help that his woman was about to move in Mu Jianyu’s place.

“Chuntao, do you really have to move in with him?” He scowled at the thought that she would be left alone with Mu Jianyu. What if the man tried to take advantage of her?

Li Chuntao sighed and peered at his face. He was already in his pajamas. He must have been waiting for her to come home before he went to bed.

For once, Li Chuntao couldn’t help but feel moved by his efforts. For a long time, she’d always come home to an empty house, knowing no one was waiting for her back home.

“I thought we already talked about this?” She stood up and dragged herself to her bedroom and removed her coat. Shen Zichen followed and closed the door behind him. He watched as Li Chuntao sat in front of her vanity and removed her earrings, watching him from the reflection of the mirror.

“I can’t help but be worried.” He admitted his concern. He sat on the edge of her bed and continued to watch her wipe away the light makeup from her face.

“And I promise you that I will break him within three months,” she countered.

Shen Zichen only agreed with her plan to stay with Mu Jianyu with an ultimatum. She can’t stay longer than the three months they had agreed on. After three months, she should move out and live with him, far from Mu Jianyu’s prying eyes.

Li Chuntao’s lips curled into a slight smile seeing his scowling face in her mirror. Ever since they started their affair that fateful night, Shen Zichen had started to become overprotective of her. He started talking to Su Ling, always asking her bodyguard about her welfare whenever he wasn’t around to check on her.

“You are worrying too much. Are you forgetting I’ll bring someone with me to his place. We can’t possibly be alone when she’s around.”

Upon Li Yuren’s insistence, Li Chuntao would bring a female bodyguard with her, disguised as a maid to keep her safe, much to Shen Zichen’s relief.

“I know, but still…”

Li Chuntao turned around to face him, giving him a pointed look.

“I’ll be fine. Just trust me on this.” She insisted.

Shen Zichen wanted to argue that it wasn’t her that he didn’t trust, it was that treacherous Mu Jianyu, but he supposed it can’t be helped. She’d planned this even before they started their affair. He could only hope that nothing bad will happen to her during her stay with that bastard.

How could he remain angry at her when she was looking at him like that? These were the rare moments that he couldn’t help but blame himself for being too soft on her. He couldn’t say no to any of her wishes and now it was biting him back hard in the ass.

Seeing that he was finally dropping the issue, Li Chuntao left him on her bed and took a quick shower before retiring for the night. However, when she came back after showering and changing into a pair of pajamas, she found him still sitting on her bed deep in his thoughts.

“What is it now?” She asked, bringing him back to his senses. Shen Zichen stood up and looked at her.

Li Chuntao sat at the center of her bed and using a clean towel, started drying her hair. However, because her hair was too long, a few of her locks were slipping out from it.

It was Shen Zichen’s turn to chuckle at her silliness. He climbed up on her bed and asked for the towel in her hand before she hurt her own scalp from rubbing it too hard.

He simply couldn’t bear watching her destroy her beautiful hair like this. Didn’t she know that aside from her sweet lips, her eyes and her long hair were his favorites?

“Let me do it instead. Your scalp and head will hurt if you keep rubbing it like that.” He told her.

Li Chuntao stopped her attempts and scrutinized him for a moment before begrudgingly passed the towel from her hands.

“Fine,” she scoffed and let him do as he wished. Not that she could complain receiving his help. These were the rare times she enjoyed getting his attention.

Shen Zichen then carefully started drying her hair. He was able to dry it without encountering a problem and even gave her a light head massage she enjoyed. Her eyes started to droop because of it.

Once he was done, Li Chuntao didn’t wait for him and settled on the bed without him. She turned off the lights from her lamp shade and decided to retire for the night. It didn’t take long for Shen Zichen to follow her lead. He settled next to her, pulling her body towards him.

For tonight and even the next ones, he would make sure that she will only be his.
