Jiang Yuning stopped breathing for a second.

Staring into each other’s eyes, they were just a few inches apart. He found her extra attractive while being thick-skinned. “You—you are pretty. Every part of you is pretty, even your hair.”

“Good boy.” Nian Xi smiled and opened the shopping bag she brought. She took out a black jacket and said, “Your coat is ruined. It’s cold out, so I bought you a new jacket on my way here. It’s not a good brand. I just grabbed one. I don’t even know if it’s the right size or not. I just described your body type, and the salesperson recommended this one.”

Jiang Yuning took the jacket from, examined it and then said happily, “Xi, you have such a good taste. This jacket is gorgeous. I’ve never seen such a good-looking black jacket.”

Nian Xi didn’t feel so confident hearing that compliment. That jacket was very ordinary. The shop she visited catered to middle-aged men.

“Eh… Just wear it tonight. I’ll buy you a better one later, as compensation.”

“I don’t need your compensation.” Jiang Yuning shook his head and said softly, “Just stay with me.”

Nian Xi was a little confused.

“I want you to keep me company.” Jiang Yuning glanced at her.

“Are you hungry or thirsty? Can I get you something?”

“That’s all?” Nian Xi asked.

Nian Xi left the room. About ten minutes later, she returned and handed him a bag. Jiang Yuning looked inside but found no steam buns. There were some takeaway containers in there though.

“Where’s the steamed bun?” he asked.

“When did I agree to buy you a steamed bun?” Nian Xi glanced at him.

Jiang Yuning gave a start. Indeed, she did not agree to do that. But she did nod her head.

“There are no steamed buns. Here, have some rice.” Nian Xi opened the containers. Inside were vegetables and meat. Mmm, smelled so good.

His hands were bandaged, so Nian Xi volunteered to feed him. She put a large piece of meat into his mouth and said, “You’re injured so badly. Can you heal well if you only eat steamed buns and vegetables? You have to eat some meat. You are not allowed to be picky about your food in front of me.”

Hearing her words, Jiang Yuning obediently swallowed the food in his mouth. He hated eating meat, but whatever Nian Xi put in his mouth tasted great. “Xi, I’ll eat whatever you feed me,” he said.

Nian Xi burst out laughing. “I want a boyfriend, not a son. Are you sure you want me to feed you? Do you want to be my son? Well, you can start by calling me mommy then.”

“Eh-hem.” Jiang Yuning nearly chocked on the meat. He finally coughed it up and looked at her with tearful eyes and said, “Stop feeding me. I can do it myself.”

Smiling, Nian Xi said, “Now is a special time. You can feed yourself when you get better.”

“Oh.” Jiang Yuning sighed and said, “You should eat too. You must be hungry.”

Nian Xi was starving! She started eating while feeding Jiang Yuning. Soon she forgot to switch chopsticks and started using his.

A few minutes later, Jiang Yuning’s white cheeks became red. He looked at her sheepishly and said, “Xi, why is the food getting more and more delicious?”

Nian Xi paused and stopped chewing. Jiang Yuning continued murmuring, “Because your saliva is on the chopsticks.”

It was like kissing indirectly. He felt so shy.
