“I didn’t,” said Jiang Yuning with an innocent expression.

“You didn’t? Are you serious?” Nian Xi complained, “Who are you to me? How can I suck your fingers? We shouldn’t suck other people’s fingers, should we?”

Jiang Yuning blinked, thought for a moment, then said, “No, not really, but I don’t mind sucking yours. You’re not like the others to me.”

He immediately regretted saying that. Once again, he accidentally revealed his thoughts.

Nian Xi rubbed her forehead speechlessly. She almost slapped the table. “I’m not asking if you mind or not. I mind, okay? I’m not a lascivious girl.”

After finishing her meal, Nian Xi asked the waiter for the bill.

Jiang Yuning hurriedly took out his wallet.

“I’ll get the bill,” Nian Xi said. She ordered more food than he did and it was her idea to go out to dinner.

Jiang Yuning shook his head quickly. He had never gone on a date before, but he understood that a guy shouldn’t let a girl pay for dinner. Uncle Han had also warned him that having the girl pay the bill on a date would be a huge mistake.

He worried that Nian Xi might pay the bill before he did, so he quickly took a wad of bills out of his wallet.

“We don’t have ten yuan for change,” said the waiter apologetically, “Can you use Alipay or WeChat?”

Jiang Yuning was so confused. He was new to WeChat, and he didn’t even have an Alipay amount.

Nian Xi figured that he had no money in his WeChat account, so she hurriedly said, “I’ll pay the bill. You can buy me dinner the next time.”

“Keep the change.” He finally came up with an idea.

“Thank you, thank you,” said the waiter happily.

“No,” Nian Xi didn’t agree with that, then said to the waiter, “You can send me the ten yuan via WeChat.”

The waiter pulled a long face. While turning around, he murmured, “What a stingy woman.”

Nian Xi was infuriated to hear that. Jiang Yuning turned and said to her, “You’re not stingy.”

Nian Xi nodded. Thankfully, he knew her well enough.

Ten yuan meant nothing to her, but, the restaurant didn’t offer her any discount, so why should she pay more? Her money was earned through effort.

“You are trying to save money for me,” Jiang Yuning continued.

Nian Xi stayed silent.

Why was the conversation getting a little strange?

Jiang Yuning looked at her deeply in the eyes, said, “Xi, you really are a thrifty girl who knows how to live life.”

Nian Xi wanted to bury her head in her arms.

What did she just hear? Someone just called her thrifty. God.

Since she was a little girl, her family had always complained about how extravagantly she spent money and how hard it was for her to save anything.

For the first time, someone told her she was thrifty. She nodded without thinking, said, “You are right. My parents always taught me to work hard and save money since I was a little girl. Every penny should be spent wisely.”

Jiang Yuning nodded. Nian Xi’s parents were so good at educating their daughter.
