Feng Tianyi remained seated next to his mother, unmoving, while Tang Moyu made several phone calls on one side. Song Fengyan had arrived at her house in Peach Blossom Garden, which was a great relief and reassurance for her and Feng Tianyi, knowing that their children would be safe with him.

Although their little buns and Lan Yunru hadn’t been officially named as part of the Song family, they couldn’t play safe for now. At least the news about Song Huifen’s illness had been suppressed for now.

Tang Moyu had decided not to inform their twins about Song Huifen’s current condition, not wanting them to worry about their Mommy Fen. It was bad enough that her husband was acting like this right now. It would be better to spare their children.

“Tianyi, I’ll go and buy food for us.” Tang Moyu said worriedly as she looked at her husband. “Everything will be fine. We’ll get through this.” She added, hugging him from behind as they watched over Song Huifen’s sleeping form.

This was the first time she had seen her husband like this. Feng Tianyi looked helpless and defeated at the same time. He might not admit it out loud, but he loved his mother so much and Tang Moyu was aware of this. Song Huifen had an undeniable influence over Feng Tianyi’s life.

Tang Moyu had left him alone with his mother for a moment. She felt that he needed it. He sat there, knowing he was useless. Since he was young, Feng Tianyi had let his mother down and did whatever he wanted to do. He was a failure as a son.

He sat there rigid on his seat, still as a sculpture. He ignored the nurse who came into the room to check on his mother. Thinking about it, this was nothing compared to the days Song Huifen remained on his side when he got involved in that accident six years ago. She was one of those people who remained on his side when he reached the lowest point of his life.

“Mother…” Feng Tianyi held his mother’s hand tightly. Song Huifen had been the person who gave him the push he needed to move forward. If it wasn’t for her insistence, he would never come back here, to Shenzhen, which would eventually lead to him meeting his children and Tang Moyu once again.

Just as he thought that he had everything in his life when he married Tang Moyu, he was reminded of what he could have lost if he continued living life on his own accord. Not only did he have a wife and children who depended on him, but he also had a mother who wasn’t getting any younger.

If he had been a responsible son and shared the burden of running the Qing Tian Group with his mother, Song Huifen wouldn’t have to force herself to do everything for him. Since his body had now recovered, Feng Tianyi realized that he had no more reason to be selfish. It was time for him to face his responsibilities in the company.

When Tang Moyu returned, she brought food and flowers with her. She placed the flowers on the table next to the bed. Because she and Feng Tianyi left in a hurry, Tang Moyu had to give their children a call earlier.

“The doctor said she could go home once she wakes up. Have you decided what to do next?” She asked her husband, aware that they cannot allow this to happen again.

Feng Tianyi sighed and rubbed his forehead. If only he’d check on his mother more often, none of this would happen. Now, not only was his mother’s position in danger, his children’s future might be affected as well. 

“I’m sorry, Moyu. I don’t think I can extend your vacation any longer. You’ll need to take over the management of Xiao Xing first. Mother needs me back at Qing Tian Group.” He apologized to the empress with a grim expression on his face.

The corner of Tang Moyu’s lips curled up as she allowed him to wrap his arms around her waist and pressed the side of his face on her stomach. Running her fingers through his thick mane, she was glad that he was seeking her help and not trying to do everything on his own.

“I understand. I’ll talk to Song Fengyan and He Lianchen to arrange it.” She said, aware that he had been trying to give her some time to have a break, something she wasn’t accustomed to. The sooner she could join Xiao Xing, the better for Feng Tianyi and his mother.

In fact, she’d been waiting patiently these past few days for Feng Tianyi to allow her to resume working. While Tang Moyu enjoyed spending time with her twins, she was restless whenever their little buns were at school, leaving her with nothing to do at home but sleep.
