Although he and Song Fengyan always argued, they had a better and deeper relationship comparable to real brothers.

They always had each other’s back and Feng Tianyi regretted not being able to do anything for Song Fengyan after everything his cousin had done and sacrificed for him. This time, Feng Tianyi made up his mind to get to the bottom of it and find out the truth of what happened between Song Fengyan and Lan Xiyan in the past and what caused their breakup.

He excused himself, leaving the children in Tang Moyu’s care as he made several phone calls in private and informed He Lianchen about what had happened today. He wasn’t able to do anything for Song Fengyan back then, but not this time. He would find out the truth no matter how nasty it was.

He then found Tang Moyu sitting on an armchair near the children, reading one of his older books. Feng Tianyi found it amusing that she was willing to spend time to read some of his works when he never asked her to. She only said that she wanted to take a peek at how his mind works through his books, something she never bothered to explain.

“Liking what you are reading so far?” He leaned forward to see which part of the story she was in. He saw that she was already halfway through the story and he was curious to see how she would react once she read the ending.

“Yeah. Although I must admit that the MC annoyed me so much from being an arrogant jerk.” Tang Moyu said with all honesty. This wasn’t the first time they had talked about Feng Tianyi’s books and plotlines, and the empress had never attempted to sugarcoat her opinions.

“Perhaps, there’s a reason why he is like that, don’t you think?” He asked, but his lips already curled up as he had already expected that she would say such words.

“Uh-huh.” The empress replied, clearly not buying his reasons. “Don’t give me spoilers and let me read in peace.”

Feng Tianyi laughed and left her be, before she decided to turn her annoyance on him. He didn’t want to pay dearly from his mischief. While she busied herself reading and the children slept peacefully, he went to the kitchen and silently started working on their dinner. But still, once in a while he wondered how Song Fengyan was faring right now.

His cousin had asked for a few days off, which was fine, But Feng Tianyi also knew that he asked to take leave for a reason. He could only hope that he wouldn’t confront Lan Xiyan empty-handed. Not only would it turn into a messy situation, but he also didn’t want Lan Yunru to get involved in a custody battle if Song Fengyan insisted to exercise his rights as her father.
