Seeing that Lady Song and the empress were starting to get impatient, Ye Xixi gestured to her butler to get the children from the other room. 

She’d rather release the three children now, before the devil himself came knocking on her door. She couldn’t afford to put the company in jeopardy just because she offended the empress and Qing Tian Group. 

The moment the children entered the sitting room, the tension that was visible on Tang Moyu and Lu Tianxin’s bodies vanished into thin air. They were both relieved that their children were safely returned to them. 

“Mommy!” The Tang twins’ faces lit up the moment they saw their mother waiting for the two of them, while Lu Ziluo immediately ran towards his mother and buried himself in her arms. 

“Are you alright? Have you eaten anything yet?” Tang Moyu asked her children, cupping one side of each of their faces at the same time. Her twins had been taken with Luo Luo that morning and she wasn’t sure if Ye Xixi had treated them well. 

“En! Auntie Xi fed us yummy food earlier. You should have come earlier, Mommy. You could have joined us for lunch.” Little Star said with a bright smile. 

Tang Feiyu turned his head and blinked when he saw a familiar woman who was sitting next to their mother. His eyes widened as Song Huifen smiled at him. 

“Ah! It’s Pretty Auntie!” The little boy exclaimed. “Hurry, Little Star, say hi to Uncle Ji’s mommy!” He told his twin sister. 

Song Huifen regarded the Tang twins. While she still couldn’t get over the fact that Xiao bao definitely looked like her son when Tianyi was younger, his twin sister barely had traces of a Feng in her facial features. 

“Hello,” she greeted Little Star. “I’m your Uncle Ji’s mommy. What’s your name, little one?”

Little Star’s eyes widened, her lips forming an ‘o’ as she looked at Song Huifen. 

“My Yu gege is right! You are really pretty, Auntie!”

Song Huifen laughed at that, before picking up the young girl, settling Little Star on her lap. She gently tucked the stray locks behind the girl’s ear and regarded her. 

Indeed, most of Little Star’s features had come from her mother. Song Huifen could almost imagine what Tang Moyu looked like when she was a child. 

Was it a coincidence that the Tang twins were half and half of Tang Moyu and her son, Tianyi? 

Song Huifen’s suspicion about the children’s lineage being a part of her son’s strengthened the more she observed them. 

“Uh-huh, can we go home now? I’m hungry again.” Little Star told Song Huifen, before patting her small tummy. 

Tang Moyu found herself sighing in relief. She was glad that nothing bad happened to her children while they were here, or else, all hell would break loose if Ye Xixi dared to hurt her little buns. 

Song Huifen stood up, cradling Little Star in one arm before facing Ye Xixi, whose face couldn’t contain her frustration. 

“Thank you for looking after them today. I hope this won’t happen again in the future, because I won’t guarantee that your family business would continue to exist if one of these little buns were harmed.” 

Of course, it was a blatant warning for Ye Xixi and the whole Ye family, just in case they even thought of offending the empress again. Still, Ye Xixi couldn’t understand why the Song family was supporting the fallen empress. 

What was Tang Moyu’s relationship with them, that Song Huifen would personally come here just to retrieve the empress’s children? She really needed to find out.

“Uncle Ji, we’re home!” The sweet little buns ran towards their Uncle Ji and crawled up on his lap before giving both sides of his cheeks a kiss at the same time, giggling away as they did. 

Tang Moyu’s eyes softened at the scene. Her children had truly accepted Feng Tianyi in their lives and she wondered if it was time for her to do the same.

“I only said those words to Ye Xixi for her to consider other options, aside from snatching the custody from Lu Tianxin. You two don’t need to marry if you don’t like each other.”

“The way I see it, Ye Xixi isn’t sure of your capabilities yet, which is normal.” She told Ye Xiaozu. “If you want to protect your nephew, you have to man up and prove to everyone that you aren’t like your father.” 

“I will.” Ye Xiaozu agreed. “Lady Song, thank you for helping us today. If it wasn’t for your intervention, I don’t think this day would have ended peacefully.” 

The empress dowager waved it away. She didn’t do any of it out of concern. If Tang Moyu’s children weren’t involved, she wouldn’t even bother to go there and meet Ye Xixi. She simply wasn’t interested. 

“Don’t mention it. You aren’t in debt to me. I just wanted Tang Moyu’s twins back because Tianyi asked me to. It’s rare for my son to ask me for something, so I indulged his request.”
