She and Feng Tianhua could have simply discussed it and settled with an agreement to free themselves from the arrangement, if his brother truly wanted to be with another woman. No doubt, Tang Moyu would find it reasonable if the terms would be favorable for both parties. 

“I’m not sure myself. I think maybe because I had no other goals in my life back then. So long as I could please my parents, I didn’t mind being his wife.” Tang Moyu answered truthfully, which Feng Tianyi appreciated. 

It was already hard for him to get past her walls and get to know the real her. He was also aware that he needed to tread carefully so he won’t lose her. 

“What about now? What’s your goal?” He could tell that dating and marriage would be the least of her priorities, something he hoped he would be able to change soon. 

“It’s really simple. To be happy with my children and friends.” She said as her eyes softened at the thought. 

The sole reason why she was working hard was so that she could be assured that she could provide for her twins, making sure that they would want for nothing, even if she couldn’t be the father they wanted. And having her friends around her was enough for her not to feel alone. 

What she hadn’t expected was her meeting Feng Tianyi, her ex-fiance’s half-brother. He came into her life at an unexpected time through her children. Anyway, nothing could be changed now, but she still wasn’t sure if she was truly bothered by the revelation of his true identity to her. 

Perhaps, she needed more time to sort out these thoughts and feelings she had for him to truly understand where he stood in her life. 

Tang Moyu admitted to herself that she’d enjoyed his company, that she didn’t mind having him around her and her twins. But her fear that he might lie to her again and betray her just like Feng Tianhua did was the main reason she’s hesitating to truly accept Feng Tianyi’s feelings for her. 

It wasn’t easy when he was just Qin Jiran before. But truth be told, she hadn’t expected that it would be more complicated now that he was Feng Tianyi and not just some crippled author her twins befriended months ago. 

She heard Feng Tianyi grunted as he started unbuttoning his blue pajamas. 

“What are you doing?” Tang Moyu blurted out. 

“It’s so hot and I feel sticky.” Feng Tianyi’s face had a blush on it as he panted for breath. One minute, he was shivering from cold, then another minute it felt like he was being roasted in the fire. “Can you please get me a change from my wardrobe? A shirt and a pair of pants will do. And an undergarment if you don’t mind.” 

He would have done it himself if only he didn’t feel awful at the moment. His only option was to ask the empress for a favor. 

She was impressed by how organized his clothes were. It was easy to see where to reach for the clothes he needed as Feng Tianyi had sorted his clothes according to their purpose and colors. She took a white shirt from one of the drawers and a pair of pajama pants before taking a black boxer short with a slight blush on her face. 

The empress scolded herself inwardly, trying to stop the blush that was threatening to spread on her face. 

‘Come on, Moyu! For god damn sake, you are already an adult. With children on top of that! Stop acting like a shy teenager!’ She chastised herself. 

She went back to where Feng Tianyi was and found his eyes shut as he leaned back against the headboard of his bed for support. His pajama top was already hanging open, allowing the empress to see his admirable broad chest narrowing to his waist. 

His skin glistened from sweat that it was already starting to seep through his clothes. 

The devil might have lost the strength in his legs, but it seemed like his upper torso and lean arms compensated for it. 

Tang Moyu cleared her throat and placed his clothes beside him before excusing herself. 

“Let me get a washcloth and a basin of water.”

She decided to take that short time to calm herself down. Why was she riled up anyway? Was it because this was the first time she saw an almost naked man up close? 

When she lost her virginity to her twins’ father, she didn’t have the chance to see his face clearly, nor did see his naked body hovering over her. So this was technically the first time she’d seen one up close. 

When she came back to Feng Tianyi’s room, he remained in the same position where she’d left him. As she placed down the basin of water and washcloth next to his bed, she wondered if she should help him wipe the sweat from his body or let him do it himself. 

Feng Tianyi cracked an eye open and saw her conflicted expression. 

“M-Moyu? What is it?” He asked. He was having a hard time focusing his gaze on her pretty face as he started to feel dizzy. 

Seeing his awful state, Tang Moyu pitied him and decided to assist him. ‘This is a bad decision,’ she thought. She gritted her teeth in frustration, fully aware that her blush seemed to be taking a permanent place on her face due to the awkward circumstances she and Feng Tianyi were in. 

Suddenly, she swiftly walked back to his wardrobe, not bothering to be careful about opening its doors this time. She opened the drawers one by one until she found the things she was looking for before closing the wardrobe and returning to Feng Tianyi’s side.
