Tang Moyu’s eyes narrowed as they reviewed the videos while Gu Yuyao tapped on the reports they gathered from the experts with her fingers in annoyance. They had already expected the worst-case scenario for this project, but they still couldn’t help but be disappointed. It was clear that the project with Ye Corporation was totally out of hand.

“Looks worse than what I thought it would be,” Gu Yuyao admitted. 

“I agree, although I don’t know that much about constructions, it’s obvious that it is too far from completion.” Lu Tianxin agreed with her assessment. 

Despite the construction manager’s insistence that they were still on schedule, none of the three women bought his bullshit. Not only was there a possibility of losing this deal to Feng Conglomerate, but Tang Enterprise might also be subjected to penalties for not being able to fulfill their part of the contract. 

Tang Moyu remained silent as Gu Yuyao started listing down the possible losses, the materials, and the manpower they would need to expedite for the construction of the project. Meanwhile, Lu Tianxin’s mind went busy thinking of how to stop Ye Xiaozu from backing out. 

The project should be completed before autumn comes, but at this point, she wasn’t sure if they would be able to meet the deadline. Even though Tang Moyu was able to seize control of the company, Tang Enterprise was still vulnerable to external forces.

Lu Tianxin gave her cousin a worried look, but Tang Moyu was too immersed in her thoughts to notice her. Why was it that her cousin, Moyu, always needed to clean up after other people? 

At first, she drowned herself with work at Feng Conglomerate to save it with Feng Tianhua. In the end, all her hard work was for naught because her ex-fiance discredited her and kicked her out of the company. Now, Tang Moyu had to clean up the mess left by their other cousin, Tang Zhelan.

While Lu Tianxin grovels about the unfairness on behalf of the empress, Tang Moyu reconsiders their options. She wasn’t actually surprised at the condition of the site and this wasn’t the first time she encountered such a problem.

How could you call it a loving family when they raised their daughters to sell them off to wealthy businessmen just to keep their influence steady within the society?

Tang Moyu was annoyed to think that she’d wasted her whole life, trying to be the perfect wife for someone who couldn’t see her worth. That her worth in their eyes was something that she needed to fulfill, or else she’d better fend for herself. 

Just the mere recollection of how she’d suffered five years ago grated Tang Moyu’s nerves. However, she wouldn’t let the bad memories get in her way this time. If only the Tang family had treated her better, she wouldn’t have to trick them and take away the power they had over her.

“So what now?” She heard her cousin asked. What now indeed? 

“The lack of progress started four months ago.” Tang Moyu said in a matter of fact tone, which caught Gu Yuyao and Lu Tianxin’s attention. 

“So they purposely delayed the project, huh?” Gu Yuyao cupped her chin and gave it a good thought. 

Lu Tianxin gasped in shock. The thought never crossed her mind.

“That’s terrible! Who would do such a thing?!” She exclaimed. 

“It’s a no brainer to figure out who’s the person behind it.” Gu Yuyao replied, her eyes boring on the cold empress who’d been deep in her thoughts. 

Wasn’t that around the same time when Tang Moyu had returned and took over the management of Tang Enterprise? Who would dare to pull strings and want them to lose this bid to Feng Conglomerate? 

“You mean Zhelan was the one behind all of this? But why would she do that?” Lu Tianxin frowned. 

Tang Moyu worked hard to save their family business. Why would Tang Zhelan want the company to crumble? Wasn’t she also a Tang?

“Moyu must be a threat to her or to other people.” Gu Yuyao said knowingly. “I wouldn’t be surprised if someone doesn’t want to see the empress return to the industry.” 

Like Feng Tianhua, Lu Tianxin thought. She wasn’t sure why the man wanted to subdue her cousin. It had been five years since their fall out, shouldn’t Feng Tianhua move on with his life and leave his ex-fiancee be? 

Lu Tianxin also hoped that the man wouldn’t cause more trouble to her cousin, especially now that romance was obviously blooming between Tang Moyu and the handsome crippled man living with her. 

“That can’t be helped, but it doesn’t mean that we would stay still and let them plot against us,” Tang Moyu responded in a calm manner. There was no point worrying over it anyway.
