If she and Moyu hadn’t reviewed all the contracts the company had previously signed for, they wouldn’t be aware that they were about to lose a massive project from the Ye Corporation. 

Ye Xiaozu took the lead and entered the site with their assistants trailing behind them. Lu Tianxin pulled her phone and started to take videos around them, with the intent of discussing this with her cousin and Gu Yuyao later. 

The construction manager rushed to meet them and scowled the moment he saw Lu Tianxin taking photos and videos of the site.

“Miss, taking pictures and videos here are prohibited.” He told her. 

“Why not?” Lu Tianxin raised a brow at him and scoffed. The man in front of her was already in his forties, some of his hair had started to turn white. He was wearing a faded gray shirt and baggy pants and a hard hat on his head. 

Why? Was it because he was feeling guilty that the project was behind schedule? 

“I’m Lu Tianxin, Deputy CEO of Tang Enterprise. I came here today with President Ye for a site inspection.” She paused and looked around. “I’m sure my assistant has notified you ahead of time about our visit today.” She said with annoyance. 

“As for me recording substantial evidence on the progress of this project, you should go to CEO Tang and complain about it yourself. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind me firing incompetent people who laze around on their jobs.”

Ye Xiaozu was taken aback by how harsh Lu Tianxin’s tone was. He had never heard her talk like this when they were still together before. Well, except for a few rare circumstances where the other person had touched her bottom line, but even then she wasn’t this sharp. 

Today, Lu Tianxin ditched her business suit and opted to wear a casual plain white shirt and a pair of pants that accentuated her womanly curves, her feet enveloped by a pair of sneakers. If people didn’t know who she was, they wouldn’t think she’s associated with the Tang family by the way she dressed. 

Still, with her bare face free from makeup, she exuded a natural charm. It was hard for men not to check her out, much to Ye Xiaozu’s irritation. Lu Tianxin wasn’t even aware of how those wolves thought of her as she ignored them altogether. 

“Let’s not waste our time here.” He cleared his throat, forcing everyone to break their gaze on the woman standing beside him. “Walk us through and brief us on the progress of this project. From my understanding, Tang Enterprise started this project half a year ago and the reports are showing that you couldn’t finish it on time.”

The construction manager gave him and Lu Tianxin a cold glare before begrudgingly led them inside and gave them a tour. 

She had a feeling that he was trying to intimidate her, but who cares? She only needed to record everything and review it later with Tang Moyu. It was clear that there was a mismanagement here and they needed to reassess the people in charge if they wanted to keep the deal with Ye Corporation.

She still couldn’t understand why Tang Zhelan let all of this happen. Didn’t she know that without Tang Enterprise, their whole clan would suffer a blow? 

It might sound like Tang Moyu used an underhanded trick to possess the majority of the company’s shares, but she knew that if Moyu didn’t, the company would have suffered worse. Lu Tianxin wasn’t sure though how much money Tang Moyu had to churn out to be able to secure her influence within Tang Enterprise. 

The crew acted along with the construction manager and some of them didn’t even bother to hide their irritation over the surprise inspection that was going on. Overall, Lu Tianxin could estimate that only about thirty percent of the project had been completed so far and they would need to scamper for more time and push in more effort to meet the deadline that was set on the contract. 

If only she could give them a piece of her mind right now, but it was clear that these people were looking down on her because she was a woman trying to get involved into a man’s business. 

Lu Tianxin finally understood Gu Yuyao’s words when she told her that Tang Moyu didn’t earn her status as the empress of the business world easily. Her gender alone was enough to make other people doubt her.

The construction manager tried to assure them that they would be able to finish on time, which Lu Tianxin doubted it could happen. 

Meanwhile, Ye Xiaozu hadn’t said a word throughout their inspection and only inclined his head in response to let them know he was listening. Lu Tianxin wondered what he was thinking about right now. 

Would he insist on ending the deal with Tang Enterprise now or would he try to bargain to expedite the progress of the project just as her cousin, Moyu, had told her earlier?

“Ye Xiaozu would rather work with us to finish the project. If he fails to open the shopping mall and theme park on time, he will be heavily criticized by his relatives. This could also mean that he isn’t ready to manage their massive family business. They only need to make a valid point and solidify the reason to oust him from his position.” The empress told her. 

Lu Tianxin crossed her arms over her chest, her eyes slightly narrowing at the thought. Just like other wealthy families, the Ye family was a vicious one. No wonder her Sister Yimei didn’t want Luo Luo to grow up in that kind of family.
