Yunyao looked around her as she thought about what Zixie had said. She knew that this devil Zixie would definitely do what he said he would if she did not comply but she really was not willing to submit to a human.

“So, have you made up your mind yet?” Zixie asked as he looked at Yunyao. “You can choose to refuse but you know what the consequence of that is!”

Yunyao clenched her teeth. There was a saying that expressed the notion that it was better to live pathetically than to die. She should agree to Zixie’s demand first then escape when she has a chance after she regain her power.

“Okay, I promise you.”

Zixie laughed when he saw the reluctance on Yunyao’s face. How could he not understand Yunyao’s thoughts? Sadly, she would never have the chance to escape for the rest of her life now.

“Little girl, make a contract with her.” Zixie pointed at Yun Yao and spoke to Gu Ruoyun. “Once you are bound to each other by the contract, she would be obligated to protect you with her life. With her by your side, I would not have to worry so much.”

No matter how one looked at it, Yunyao’s abilities were pretty strong. That was one of the reasons why Zixie told Gu Ruoyun to subdue her.

“Whine.”

Baobao whimpered when it saw that its master had subdued another spiritual beast. It rubbed its head against her thighs as if it was reminding her to not forget about it even though she had obtained another spiritual beast.

“Thank you, Zixie.”

Gu Ruoyun smiled at Zixie and spoke with gratitude. “You have already helped me so much before this. If it wasn’t for you, I probably would not have survived and my soul would have been lost!”

“Mmm.” Zixie stroked his chin lightly as he smiled devilishly at Gu Ruoyun. He boldly swept his gaze across Gu Ruoyun’s body. His eyes were so full of intent that it seemed as if he could see through her clothes. “You have grown up quite a bit in these three years. If you really want to thank me, why don’t you just devote your body to me and marry me, hmm?”

As he was speaking, his strode towards Gu Ruoyun, backing her up against the wall. His breath fluttered intimately against her neck, causing her to feel slightly ticklish in that area.

Gu Ruoyun took a few steps back. Her back hit the ice cold wall as she spoke with an inscrutable tone,”You’re a spiritual beast and I’m a human. Marriage is probably impossible.”

“Little girl, don’t you know that a spiritual beast who has attained human form is basically the same as an actual human?” Zixie narrowed his purple eyes slightly, his smile mischievous, “If we had a child, it would definitely be human. We could try it out if you don’t believe me.” 

As she looked at that gorgeous man whose face was inches away from hers, Gu Ruoyun’s heart did not even skip a beat. A smile graced her lips as she spoke, her tone ambiguous, “Even so, you would still be a phoenix and that is a fact. I’m not interested in an interspecies relationship. So if you are going into heat, you can always go and look for a female phoenix. I’m not interested in you.”

Zixie’s face darkened at that. This girl, did she mean what she just said? Not only did she discriminated against his identity as a phoenix, she even said that he was ‘in heat’?

“Alright, I will stop teasing you, little girl. Let’s get back to the point.” Zixie inhaled deeply. He was really worried that he might die from frustration if he continued his conversation with this little brat. “I will be continuing with my isolated cultivation. I would not be able to appear for a while. If there’s any danger, let Yunyao handle it. Don’t force yourself and try to shoulder everything on your own.” 

Gu Ruoyun was slightly taken aback. Was it really a flash of heartache she had seen in his eyes? Was she mistaken?

This fellow’s heart would actually ache for her? Was it because he could not bear to see her hurting like this?

In her eyes, Zixie was her teacher and her friend. He was strict when it was necessary but there had never been any tender feelings.

Yunyao, who was still huddled up in a corner, looked at Zixie and then turned to look at Gu Ruoyun. Her eyes started to dart back and forth between the both of them.

A scandal!

There must be something between Zixie and this human!
