Divine Beast Adventures Chapter 161 – Arrival

The convoy of airplanes flew on towards Bei Du, not encountering any more assaults from powerful exotic beasts. The ones they encountered were usually easily dealt with by a wave of autocannon fire.

If not, a few mini-missiles would do the job. All the annoying flies would be gone then.

The flight took over a dozen hours. By the time they reached the group of cities around Bei Du, it was already close to midnight.

From afar, the teachers and students could see rows upon rows of lighted buildings on the ground through the windows, like an ocean of light.

In a word, it was huge! In two words, it was really huge!

The students and teachers, who had mostly never left Qian Wei City, were blown away by the view of the group of cities below.

Compared to this, what did Qian Wei City count for? It was like a tiny village in the mountains!

The convoy didn’t fly directly to Bei Du. Instead, they landed at the airport of a nearby satellite city.

There were hundreds of thousands of senior high schoolers coming to take the examination this time. It would be quite the pressure on Bei Du City if they were all gathered there at once.

The city Zhang Che and the others landed at was called Jin City, situated about fifty kilometers southwest of Bei Du. The population numbered around a million, twice as populated as Qian Wei City.

After getting off the airplane, Zhang Che bade farewell to Huang Tielan.

“Do your best, Zhang Xiaoche. I believe you can do it!” Huang Tielan cheered, pumping her fist, standing by the door of an armored car. “You must come find me in Bei Du after you pass your examination!”

Zhang Che nodded, “Mmm, I will!”

After that group of cars had set off in Bei Du’s direction, Zhang Che returned to the group of Qian Wei City’s teachers and candidates. He realized the gazes from everyone were somewhat strange.

Zhang Che was annoyed. -Keep looking all you want. Try and look for a woman to live off of if you can!-

Anyway, there wasn’t anyone here who he was familiar with. He didn’t mind being isolated. -I don’t live for your opinion, do I?-

The relevant department of the organizers for this examination had sent a fleet to receive the teachers and candidates. After receiving them, they drove directly to a hotel nearby. By the time they reached their destination, it was already late into the night.

After being in an airplane for the entire day, although they were provided simple meals, everyone was feeling hungry. The organizers probably realized this, too, and didn’t arrange for them to go rest for the night immediately. Instead, they arranged a banquet at the lobby of the hotel for Qian Wei City’s candidates and teachers.

Zhang Che’s eyes immediately lit up at the sight of the tables full of food!

What a pitiful human-shaped monster; he hadn’t had much food throughout the day. Now that he finally saw so much food, he was so touched he was on the verge of tears.

As such, Zhang Che immediately became the focus of the group.

-Is this guy a man or a monster? His appetite is a little too big!-

However, Zhang Che only felt like crying as he looked at the pile of empty plates before him. He wasn’t moved. The truth was, the food wasn’t enough to satisfy him. What should he do? Did he have to ask the organizers to bring a few more tables full of food, and scare everyone to death?

“Uhm, Zhang Che, are you full?” one of the accompanying teacher, Niu Feng, who was sitting next to him by coincidence, asked concernedly. “Should I talk to the organizers and ask them to bring more food?”

-Teacher Niu Feng is such a nice person!- Zhang Che nearly wept from happiness. However, he feigned a satisfied expression and said, “Thank you, Teacher Niu, but no need for that. I’m already full.”

“It’s good that you’re full. It’s good that you’re full. Hur hur…” Niu Feng swallowed his saliva. It was the first time he had discovered someone with an appetite bigger than a bull’s!

After their meal, everyone went to the front counter to get their room card and headed up to their rooms. It was already late into the night. They still had to wake up early tomorrow and assemble at Jin City Plaza to get information on the examination.

It was impossible for them to have single rooms. This hotel was unable to provide more than two hundred single rooms.

Everyone was separated by gender, with three people sharing a room.

After Zhang Che found the room indicated on his room card key, he realized that his classmate, the one with a flat face, was also coincidentally given this room.

“Eh? Zhang Che?” the flat-faced classmate was obviously surprised as well. However, he quickly came back to himself and asked, smiling, “I thought you went to look for more food. How was it, that table of food must have left you wanting more, right?”

Zhang Che had a very bad first impression of this guy, and was too lazy to pay any heed to him. He found his bed and put down his backpack, getting ready to wash up.

Seeing this gigolo ignoring him, the flat-faced guy immediately felt irritated, especially since there was someone else around.

The anger went up to his head. He directly mocked, ignoring any consequences, “Zhang Che, I know why you got together with Huang Tielan. Her family is rich and influential; at the very least, you won’t die of hunger. Isn’t that right?”

“Hmm?”

Zhang Che suddenly disappeared from his bedside, appearing before that flat-faced guy in the next moment, lightly slapping his face, sending him spinning a few rounds and falling on the ground. The flat-faced guy saw stars circling around him, a trail of blood flowed out of the corner of his mouth.

Zhang Che looked at his palm as if nothing had happened. -It seems that I still can’t control my strength with finesse. I really didn’t intend to strike this hard.-

Seeing the flat-faced guy standing up angrily, Zhang Che swept his gaze across him coldly and said, “Did your mother not teach you to watch your mouth when you’re outside? Since you knew Huang Tielan’s family is rich and influential, have you ever thought of the consequences for angering me?” After saying that, Zhang Che walked out of the room.

The flat-faced guy’s complexion went through several changes, but he couldn’t put up a strong front. He hated Zhang Che to the core, and yet he was angry at himself for not thinking things through before acting on them. Could he afford to offend Huang Tielan’s family?

Zhang Che walked along the corridor outside, heading towards the emergency exit and went up the stairs to the hotel’s roof.

Well, like his classmate said, he truly was still hungry. How could he fall asleep if he didn’t eat something to fill his stomach?

After coming up to the roof, Zhang Che looked around him and confirmed that no one could see the situation up here, and that there weren’t any surveillance system installed here. He summoned the Rock Tortoise out gently with a wave of his hand, and had this moving storage spit out a mass of green stuff at his feet.

“Luckily I came prepared, knowing that I would get into such situation sometimes. Otherwise, I really would have no answer for tonight.”

Zhang Che recalled the Rock Tortoise and picked up the green object on the ground with a smile on his face. He peeled off the huge leaves on the outer layer, revealing the large piece of roasted exotic beast meat underneath.

On the day of his return from the beast world, Zhang Che knew that with his huge appetite, he would come across situations where he’d go hungry after he returned to Mercury. As such, he had the frisky monkey and Cold Abyss Flood Dragon hunt down some large exotic beasts with plenty of meat and roasted them, stashing them in the Rock Tortoise’s unique spatial pocket.

It turned out that the Rock Tortoise’s spatial pocket was actually able to preserve freshness and heat. After taking out the roast meat, it was actually still warm. The thick scent of meat fragrance spread out, leaving Zhang Che’s saliva dripping.

“Now I can finally have a satisfying meal!”
