Mo Qingchen was just sitting there, sipping at the wine straight from the bottle. And he was watching her ride him.

“You could have ended all of this the day it came out, but you instead chose to drag it on and slowly watched as things got worse. You allowed those people to stomp over you and your company. Why did you do that?” Actually, he knew the answer to that question.

She opened her eyes and looked at him critically. “Everything was going down the drain. Have you no idea what a nightmare it is when the executives don’t know the full situation and take action? How many careers have been ruined because of it?” she argued. 

“I understand that very well. But you aren’t a conservative when it comes to mitigating rumors. Then why do you lack confidence when it comes to your company?” he scolded. 

“It’s not that I lack confidence but that I don’t want to jump into anything lest…” she trailed off. Lest she lost it all. This was her baby, how could she see it struggle? “It was protocol.”

“It almost ruined your company’s image. There are still going to be people out there who think poorly of the brand. They won’t trust you.” 

Qian Meng nodded. “That is what happens after a scandal. I expected it. There was no way I could come out of it unscathed considering that some of the employees at the outlets were treating customers poorly if they thought they didn’t have the purchasing power.”

“And you resolved that beautifully. Why didn’t you do this the very day the news broke?” Mo Qingchen pressed her to answer. 

“To…” she hesitated. “To evaluate the situation before I took a drastic step.”

Mo Qingchen shook his head. She would remain stubborn in her belief until the very end. But it was his duty to tell her as he saw it.
