In his heart, Fu Sichen gave a long sigh. He stared at himself in the mirror— his eyes were red. He didn’t feel like himself. He gave his face another splash of water.

Now that Pei Zhen was stuck in a coma, he had to do something. He couldn’t just be depressed all of the time.

Fu Sichen spent some time calming down his emotions before coming out of the bathroom. As he was coming out, he noticed that Pei Zhen the cat was staring quite intently at Pei Zhen the human.

After a while, for seemingly no reason at all, the cat let out a whimper.

This caught Fu Sichen by surprise.

Fu Sichen walked up softly, and saw the redness in the Persian cat’s eyes. “Are you crying?”

The Persian cat jumped, startled by Fu Sichen’s voice, and took two steps back. Feeling thin air beneath his feet, the cat fell off the edge of the bed and onto the ground.

Even though he was covered in fur, it still hurt to fall down from such a high place.

Pei Zhen grimaced in pain and was about to pull himself up, when Fu Sichen’s hands reached out to lift him up.

“So you know that it was Pei Zhen who saved you?” By now, Fu Sichen was completely convinced of his cat’s intelligence. But, at the same time, he felt sad. He comforted the cat, “Don’t cry, Pei Zhen will be okay.”

“No. As long as you’re around, I’ll always be nervous and uncomfortable,” thought the unfortunate cat.
